Well I'm guessing you don't like the tips for the same reason I don't. They don't extend out far enough. It would be a bit more work than just swapping tips, but if you had a short peice of 3"pipe welded in as an extension then you could weld a new set of tips onto that.

Bad day. Just talked to Ray at PFS. They did one run it made 287hp. Then the turbo took a ****. Bearings went and won't make more than 2psi.

Anyone have just the catback system? I read that it has a 13 HP gain but there is no increase in torque, how would this change the performance in everyday driving?? Thanks.

Thats warrantied isnt it? Oh wait.. Maybe not.. You exceeded the 6 psi limit set by the Greddy system... Sorry to hear about that.

Actually up until today it was only runnig ~4.5psi, it was only at 10psi for a few runs. But I don't think Greddy offers a warrenty on their turbos anyway.

They dont?? Really.. I thought that the parts were warrantied for a year..

From the Greddy.com site...

Warranty You Can Count On

At GReddy we take our image seriously and back our products with a real warranty you can count on. In most cases, after examination of the item we will elect to give you a complete new product as opposed to repairing a defective one. We do this for two reasons, first of all to make you a completely satisfied customer, and secondly and warranty items are fully examined to find the cause of a defect and if necessary make running changes to the product line in the future. This is why GReddy maintains one of the lowest warranty claims percentage in the industry.

Geez, sorry to hear about that dude! I'm sure that was the last thing you were expecting. Well, at least it wasn't your engine right?!?

That's true about the engine, that would have really been a bad day. I really wish I knew why it died though. I don't want to replace the turbo just to have it die again.

I'm going to give Greddy a call to see what they say, but I know zoomzoom8's turbo died and Greddy wouldn't do anything as mentioned in this thread.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...9&page=2&pp=15

Really doesn't seem right though especially when almost every other turbo kit manufacturer offers a warrenty and they clearly imply they do as well on their website.

Damn, that blows. I was looking forward to the numbers with the turboxs exhaust system in. I've been at 10psi for the past month and my turbo has almost 10k miles on it (installed 2/05). No issues with turbo.

I noticed your comment in another thread......

287whp @10psi in 3rd
Scott's video shows he made ~290whp @12psi in 5th gear
Maybe I'll visit the dyno next month and see exactly how much the turboxs has added.

I'm sure in this case that GReddy would say that rkolstoni wasn't running the kit the way GReddy intended (i.e. Interceptor X instead of eManage), so they don't have to honor their warranty.

I picked up my busted car tonight after they closed. I had asked them to leave a copy of the dyno sheet in the car. I thought they had said it was running at 10psi, but the dyno sheet shows 8psi. So it looks like 284hp@8psi in 3rd gear
4rth gear made slightly more boost and slightly less hp. I'll be pretty happy with those numbers once I get the turbo fixed.

Oh, kinda hard to compare because of the low psi. Still, great number though!

I just wanted to give me $0.02 now that I have this exhaust. There is definitely a power increase. I was tuning my car yesterday, doing a bunch of 3rd gear runs to redline and the car feels much more responsive than it did in high boost (12.5psi) before the exhaust. Keep in mind that the boost controller was off, and I lost another 2psi or so across the board from switching my wastegate signal (GReddy fix #2). Even with all that, I was still getting about 8psi. I wasn't able to turn the boost controller on and tune around that, but I can't imagine how hard it will pull when the boost is turned up. The sound is great. Its a bit loud, but its really deep and aggresive. I'm sure everyone knows my opinion about the tips, but other than that, I'm extremely pleased with this system.

Glad you liked it.
The silencers work really well if you want to tone it down alitte, but I did notice a slight power decrease with them in.

One bad thing about the greddy turbos are that they are refurbished mitsubishi turbos, which are known to fail. If you are going to get a turbo, I would recommend hks or garret.

------------

Greddy turbos may be refurbished??? NEWS FLASH!!!!

I had the silencers in for a week, and took them out this past weekend. I love the sound without them, but I realize it may attract too much attention, so I'll probably put them back in. When I tune, I'll take them out again.

The only way to fix it would be to do something customized. I'm keeping my eye out for some tips that will fit it.
