Those Toyo's are some grippy tires. With a pro behind the wheel like that, I probably would've needed a barf bag. Good stuff, hehe... Man, I need to go to a track day...

InfiniFc, I know how to tune my car better than how to run these pages, but I track in fall and spring at Harris Hill Road San Marcos and Texas motorsport ranch cresson texas when i have a chance in mild weather. I think someone put mazdaspeed springs on my car before I bought new, and also Enkei 7.5 x18 38 offset wheels. i like the wheels even though i won't put any baller tires like you got. Ha! I rode with Altain from this forum once, and he had 17x9 wheels with 255/40r17 Toyo 888's. I was nauseous when I got out; i'm sure his 8 pulled about 1.2 g's and I couldn't tell if it was under or over steer. I can see you're way on the rite track. good luck to ya!

    Hi RedRX3RX8,

Thunderhill is a great track. I like it for it's openness in case of any accidental offroad antics, less chance to wreck into a wall of tires or something solid.

The pictures I have were from the first time I ever tracked the RX8. I didn't have a basis to go by so I left them in the stock configuration. Now that I've been there, I know that I'd definitely add more camber up front. The car with the staggard wheel setup (18x8.5 & 18x9.5 w/ Fr 245-40, and Rr 275-35), it didn't understeer as much as I thought it would, but it definitely understeered. The rear was really planted though, but overall I was able to keep a high grip threshold on street tires.

I have a new set of wheels now that I will have to adjust for. 18x10 all around w/ Kumho Ecsta MX 275-35s. Should grip pretty well once I fix the alignment. :-)

    Hey Darrell,

I'd love to instruct you again, but I'm afraid life has conspired to keep me from attending the event at HHR on the 14th. Have fun down there, and hopefully I'll catch up to you at an event next season!
