You know, some here are nearing 100k miles on 5w-20, 5k oil changes, no premix, while others are getting 20k on an engine w/ 20-50 synthetic, idemitsu sohn and premix, 3k oil changes. What does quality of gas have to do with engine life? I thought that 87 octane doesn't affect engine life, just performance. Anyways, I'm using 91 octane, 70% Chevron, 25% Shell, 5% Costco. How long till you tear that engine down? I want to see the results. After reading the most recent pages of the premix threads, it seems like people are mostly using either Idemitsu/PF Plus or MMO. I've been using 4 oz. Idemitsu w/ 4 oz. MMO. I feel safer with that until I see more hard evidence as to the safety of FP Plus, it's actual effectiveness in converting carbon buildup to graphite in the concentrations used, and it's interactions with molybdenum.
