Engine Tuning - Midwest Area - August 21 - 22
Greetings,
Is anyone in the Midwest considering having their cars tuned this summer?
Steve Kan of Gotham Racing has said he would be willing to come up to the Midwest Rotary Rally in August to give a presentation on tuning the rotary engine, as well as doing real live tuning on people's cars.
Last year Steve gave a great presentation in spite of the noise from the race cars going by our trackside car corral. This year we are looking at doing some of the tuning session off-track, so we should not have the same noise issue again.
The people whose cars he tuned last year were also very happy with the results.
Let me know if you are interested in hearing Steve speak again this year, and if you would be interested in having him tune your engine.
Cheers,
Steve

Forgot to mention - this sort of tuning is done on stand-alone ECUs, such as Electromotive, Haltec, etc. It can not be done on the stock ECUs for the RX-7, and probably not the RX-8 even though the 8's ECU can be flashed. At least not that I am aware of, so please correct me if I am wrong.
However, Steve's presentation on tuning is still a great way to learn more about this topic, and is must-know info for those who are thinking of replacing the stock ECU with an aftermarket one.
Cheers,
Steve

Hey,
I finally had a chance to talk to Steve and get more info on the pricing for this service in conjunction with the MRR.
The cost of the tuning is $250 each, with a minimum of 4 people.
If we only have 3, I guess that would work out to $333.34 each. It looks like we have 4 people interested on the rx7club.com forum, so this could be a go!
On the bonus side, if we can put this together, Steve may drive his new 3-rotor car up!!! And last but not least, Steve gave a great presentation at last year's MRR on rotary tuning, so it will be great to hear him speak agin this year.
Let me know if you are in for the tuning work, and we can work out the details, how to get the funds to Steve, etc.
Cheers,
Steve
