As long as non of your mods bolt directly to the motor you should have no problem with the 100k mile warranty. I would suggest also BHR's upgraded coils. I havn't purchased them myself but have gone through 4 sets of stock coils last year while I was still under the powertrain warranty. I still have random missfires.

My 8 is itching to get out to HPR. I just wanna go a few times first though. Also Driving school so I won't look lame and confused when if I ever get out there. I also wanna do some Auto X. It all depends how my tranny is after I replace the slave cylinder. Already had McDonald Mazda replace second gear and syncros and am still grinding when shifting into second.

Driving school first, then HPR:) A driving school is a bargain. For $150-175 you get personal instruction on a course you don't know, and by the end of the day you've had all the track time you wanted and know what you're doing..

An open lapping day will cost $150 and you won't know what you're doing, you'll be in everyone's way, and I'll hate you.:P

parkpy 05-13-2009 10:24 AM

Hello yffs:

Hitting HPR again this Friday A.M. (May 13th) if anyone is interested. I know that Scott (Ergokinetics) and Mike (E90 M3) will be going as well for the morning session.

Hope some of you guys can make it out!

Ha... Yeah don't hate me. Sounds like school it is. When I can muster up the funds. You should post up on CMZC.net. We need more RX8s and people intrested in HPR over there. We do weekly Sonic meets every sunday and a cruise through the mountains afterwards. That is also the new home of MHR (Mile High Rotaries) You could meet more RX8/rotary owners there.

DarthRX8 05-13-2009 02:24 PM

^^^yeah^^^ sign up on CMZC. We need more 8s!

airstriker2005 05-13-2009 03:22 PM

Hey Colorado Springs, sorry I haven't been around here for a while. Im deployed right now in case you didnt know. I'll be back soon. Hey Greek, remember me? Got the dent fixed. So what happened to Ghosts turbo? Well I'm saving up for a greddy turbo myself. Do you guys know if Revolutions can do the Greddy fixes and how much is labor? Also my buddy here has a Turbo on his 8 but he doesn't know if it's greddy or what because he bought the car like with it and he's a complete NOOB!!!! He's selling his kit to me. I was wondering if Revolutions can uninstall a kit then install it into mine? How much do you think labor is? Well tell everyone at CMZ that I said whats up. Have you guys heard this other speed shop in the Springs called Street Dreams? I knew the owner but I don't know what happened to him. Well, duty calls. See you in a few.

KrumbZ 06-23-2009 08:56 PM

I just arrived in Colorado a few days ago!

Got a house in Loveland (hour north of Denver) we are moving in Tuesday.

I hope to be able to get together and meet some local 8 and Mazda owners!

I was wondering if anyone wanted to get together for UFC 100 on the 11th?

And so far my car seems to be running fine- idle is good and I haven't had to adjust anything. I haven't really gotten on it yet to test out, been too busy, but I am pulling more vacuum it seems (odd) around 22" at idle.

Tomorrow is a free day so hopefully I can test her out in boooooost

Hey chickenwafer how are you enjoying colorado so far? So what did you think of the fight? I went and caught it at Champs in Denver with a few friends.

lancer 07-16-2009 02:25 PM

Hey man. So far Colorado is pretty nice. I love the mountains...the air is crisp....and it isn't 115 degrees! But the bugs and rain are KILLING me. Not used to that LOL

The fight was pretty kickass. When Henderson knocked Bisbing out I knew nothing could up the rest of my night LOL. I was just a little sad when Mir lost to Lesnar....I wish Frank could have put a better fight.

I'm going to the show at Mazda Of Lakewood on the 25th, you guys should come down.

DarthRX8 07-22-2009 04:51 AM

I am soooo pissed that I am going to miss the biggest Mazda meet in CO. So far it looks like you wil have the only 8 in the show (from CMZC anyway). If I wasn't in Iraq I would have definitly been there!

Good luck!

chickenwafer 07-22-2009 05:15 PM

Oh damn you're right man! I will have the only 8. So sad. I will represent well tho!

BruceInColorado 07-22-2009 06:41 PM

Competent/reasonable shop to replace RX-8 plugs?

Is there any shop in the west Denver Metro area (Arvada/Golden/Lakewood)that you trust to replace the plugs on my (2004) RX-8's rotary... and not charge a ton of money?

The acceleration is a bit boggy when hot, and its got 42K, so now's the time.

I know that DIY is best, but I just don't have the room or free time, and I have this recurring nightmare about destroying my car.

I've also read horror stories about dealers charging $800 or more just to replace the plugs - but that's out of control. Yeah, I know I have a cool sports car... but I don't have that kind of dough to blow!

Any help would be appreciated in finding a decent shop that won't soak me because I have an RX-8.

Thanks bro!

If anyone else if free this saturday, you should come out of the Mazda Of Lakewood event. It's gonna be a good time!

CaptainEggs 07-23-2009 11:18 PM

i might come down... depends what comes up. but does anyone know of some good bodyshops in the thorton/ brighton area? or somewhere close to that...

dutch747 08-14-2009 12:07 PM

Hey Darth,

What are using (software wise) to post your pic's? Do you reduce the file size and/or pixels?

Want to post some of my pics but can't figure out how.

Thanks for your help!

DarthRX8 08-14-2009 12:57 PM

Open the file in paint, click on Image, and then go to stretch/skew.

Shrink it down (its by percentage). Then save it and upload it. Let me know if you need more help.

chickenwafer 08-16-2009 04:29 PM

Track season is getting smaller, I think we should organize a club track day :) Thoughts?

DarthRX8 08-17-2009 06:47 AM

There is an autocross coming up at Pike PEak Int. Raceway on 5 Sep.

http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/calendar (this is Porsche's Events)

I am real sad that I missed the autox's that they do right down the street from my house at the world arena. Last year I did pretty well and was hoping to do better this year.

Not many 8 owners that I know in CO or on this site go to the track. Myself and one or two others. The CMZC might have more, but they are not 8's.

Either way hopefully you can get something going. I would be there in a minute! Maybe someone could pick up my 8 and take her for a spin. My wife pulls her out of the garage once a week and takes her for a spin around the block and that is it... :(

I'm game.

chickenwafer 08-17-2009 10:53 PM

I'd prefer road course over auto-x. I hate auto-x LOL I just can;'t navigate the cones well, I always go off-course blah blah blah. Plus my car is more suited to a road course where I can open her up more :)

I will research any upcoming NASA events

sigfrid 08-20-2009 01:33 PM

Track day

I would love to go for a track day. Please let us know what you find. I would also like to see what a turbo car and a supercharged car can do to see which way I may go. I am tempted to sell my 3rd gen rx7 (with a 383) and do a turbo or supercharger on my rx8. I just don't know if it's worth it. Are there rx8's around here with a supercharger? chickenwafer, I would really love to check out your car.

Sigfrid

chickenwafer 08-25-2009 08:55 PM

Yeah you can check it out. I don't think we have any s/c up here. I would stay away mainly due to the high elevation, the supercharger will not perform as well. Turbos are better for high elevation (among other things)

Tayninh 09-01-2009 06:56 PM

Hey Colorado RX-8 drivers. I came out of work today and saw my entire back windshield had shartterd. I can't tell if a rock hit it from a passing vehicle or what happened. I think only the tint plastic is holding it together. Little pieces of glass are falling out of it. I called a mobile glass company and its going to cost me $800 something. Wow Are RX read windows shattering or something going on? I'll check the repair section on here to see anyone else had this issue. I am working out of the Denver Tech center, Centennial.

Tayninh 09-02-2009 08:35 PM

Well my back glass cost $911. Don't ever have the rear glass go! wow. Come to find out a lawn mx dude when driving the mower it threw out a rock about 50 feet away and just happend to hit my rear window and BANG! its totalled shattered. The building owner has insurance and I will get a check for that repair. Ouch! Passed another red RX-8 going home tonight. I beeped the horn and the guy was like being on the moon. No response and he even passed me up later when he made a left turn. He was driving real slow however like he just got the car. Interesting.

DarthRX8 09-04-2009 12:19 PM

DO you have insurance? If so what is your deductible?

chickenwafer 09-05-2009 01:33 PM

Yeah insurance should cover it

cobaum 09-08-2009 09:50 AM

Denver area mechanic

I am a new owner of a 2004 RX8. I searched looking for a Denver area mechanic and only found some old posts. I want to make sure I am getting current information. Any recommendations? I am south central, but if the greatest rotary shop is in the north, I guess it's an excuse to go for a drive. She doesn't need anything right now - runs awesome - I just want to establish a relationship doing simple stuff like oil changes so that I can know I trust them if it really ever needs anything big. Recommendations? Thanks.

KrumbZ 09-20-2009 10:40 PM

going turbo soon!!

Most people around here can help you out with work. I'm not aware of too many shops specializing in rotaries.

Shops

I use Precision (or precision imports) I am not sure of the exact name. They are located by 285 and Federal. Mike and Dan are very nice and their rates are good. They currently have 3 3rd gens, an old mazda R (I think) with a bridgported 13B and they work on a race RX8 from time to time, plus my RX8 when it will need something.

It's coming.... The winter.... I'm a little freaked :|

Lived in the desert the past 15 years, can't remember snowfall until Monday.

Do I need to get winter tires and spare wheels, or all seasons cut it in Denver?

Moving into my apartment on Saturday. Has an attached garage for storage if I get a separate set of wheels w/snows. Also cuts my commute from 20 something miles to 4.

huzer21 09-23-2009 11:36 AM

All seasons will cut it for you. I had winter tires on last year (picked up a used set on craigslist) but naturally after I put them on, we barely had any snow. The previous winter seasons, it ended up being more about lack of clearance than about lack of traction (as long as you're not riding on summer-only tires).

Of course, if you can swing it, dedicated snows/wheels would be a great solution. Also, since it's your first winter in Denver, beware, they do not plow side streets after a snowfall. They just let it melt. Seriously.

I'm in the same boat as you, man! I just moved here from Arizona after not seeing snow or below 40 degree temperatures for 4 1/2 years! I live in Pittsburgh before Phoenix so I have dealt with snow and bone chilling cold before, but this year will suck!

Was in Vegas for 4 years, and Tucson for 11 years before that. Weeeeeeee..... scouring craigslist and CMZC for people selling wheels that fit... Just in case

DarthRX8 09-24-2009 06:37 PM

craigslist usually has someone selling winter tires and they are almost always a pretty good deal!

What's some of the good tracks down in the denver area? And what do they cost to go mess around on them? .. I've never been to an open track so i have no idea how they're ran if somebody would be able to enlighten me >.<

JRichter 10-22-2009 05:18 PM

I can't take my twice cracked windshield any more. Any recommendations for auto glass in Colorado Springs? I've only been here for 3 years so don't know who's best in this area. :dunno:

DarthRX8 10-23-2009 11:53 AM

I have no clue, sorry...

I would call a couple of places and get a quote. MOst of these companies will come to you to do the job too. G/L :)

JRichter 10-23-2009 05:07 PM

Yeah, I guess there is probably not much difference between the main companies. I just need to make some calls. My insurance company gave me quote from someone a while back and it was going to be 263.00 which doesn't sound bad.

This is the best track near Denver. During the winter it will cost $100/day:
