yea...I don't know if the chatter is coming from the rotor/pad friction or from the back of the pad. I'm pretty sure we greased up the back of the pad pretty good on that side. It seems to only be my driver front that squeeks.

Did you use new rotors, have the old ones cut, or just slapped them on the unprepped old rotors?

BC.

I had only 4K miles on the car when I switched so we didn't turn them. We did clean them with break cleaner though. I had the pads sanded and rotors turned before I left Cleveland in the fall. Helped for like a week...

You using the OEM shims? Starting to think I shouldnt have, if I cared that is. My OCD may get the best of me this weekend.

Well, HPR was very successful. Driving in the extreme rain is rather interesting, especially for your first lap on your first day on a track.

Got in about 30 laps total, definitely have some areas to work on, but got a lot of good feedback from the instructor. Pics/video snippets coming soon.

Only regret was not getting any times at all. Since it is a "driving school," they don't record lap times, and actually might revoke your invitation to the track if you have someone reporting times from the side. I don't even think I can ballpark it, perhaps I can once I review the video.

Very cool and the rain experience would be great with instruction. I think their insurance specifies they cant permit timing during non sanctioned events.

I only got in about 2 sessions on Friday before my fronts were finished, which I expected. Had an AWESOME spin off coming out of turn 1 trying to avoid a timid Viper GTS driver that filled the car with dirt. Its cleaned out now and no damage. Maybe now between you, me and BC we can get some 8s out there for a day.

Yes...their insurance...along with yours...would become void if you were given a time. That said...if you provided your own time via GPS monitors in the car or via someone at the start/finish line...you would be fine. Dunno why they would have a problem with them being recorded on the side. Knowing what you did on the lap and the associated time would help you understand what worked and didn't. Just depends on their definition of "driving school" I guess.

Their explanation/reasoning is that this is a driving school, not a racing school. Therefore, any thing related to "timing" is considered racing to them, which isn't the purpose of the instructions.

To me, timing is a metric for showing improvement. Being able to quantify what you are doing helps alot more than your instructor saying "you're doing better."

What kind of times are you guys putting up, so I might have something to compare to next time?

Also, my computer went the way of the dodo after a power outage while I was at the track yesterday, so video/pics will come at a later date.

Getting to the track and seeing this is rather depressing/intimidating. It rained probably for 2 hours, first session continued as scheduled, right through the weather!

Me leaving the hot pits in my 3rd of 4 sessions. The only decent photo--I need to teach my brother how to take better pictures. He was working corner 1.

I worked the next day while my brother drove. Much better weather! Got only a few pictures.

One of the instructors brought his GTR. REALLY wish I got a ride in it, but the line was huge. So I just got to watch it from corners 3 and 5.

Videos uploading to youtube now. But they are mostly of the racing school, and I haven't got the ones my brother took of me yet.

Those are some decent pics and vids, thank you for posting.

Ive not timed myself beyond within the minute. Im under 3, thats about as close as Ive gotten. When I was there the first weekend of March a noob in a 350Z asked about renting a transponder which they offer, but he was told they couldnt provide this for lapping days because of insurance blah blah like DeViLbOi said. Though I wasnt aware my insurance covered me for lapping days, ie non competition events. I will have to verify this with mine as Im looking at getting track insurance too.

I've heard good things about simple smart phone apps. They will definitely get you in the ball park, but unfortunately I became aware of it while I was at the track, and didn't want to try to download anything on the Edge network...

Watching the Rolex Sports Car Series, and saw the Volvo S60 commercial featuring their race car of version of that car.

Then I noticed that the commerical was filmed at HPR! Pretty cool!

Who left their black S1 RX8 on the side of I-25 yesterday? Also spotted a white S1 up in Denver on I-225 sporting a fancy shmancy bike rack yesterday...was that anyone on here?

Thats pretty cool. They were out during my St Patrick's day lapping session and needless to say the car is quite impressive.
