Needed: 1 bone stock RX-8 as a test mule for the Cobb Accessport
Hey guys. This is my first post to this forum but bear with me.
I'm one of the owners of Revolutions Performance (www.revolutionsperformance.com) here in Colorado Springs.
Some of you may have heard rumors about the Cobb Accessport being available soon for the FE3S. Well, the rumors are true. We have worked with Cobb Tuning very closely for many years on the Subaru side of things and given our track record they chose to deliver the first alpha test unit in the world to us.
They have the AP's working pretty well on their own internal test mules and are now ready to start testing a few cars out in the wild.
Here is what we need:
A bone stock RX-8 with a manual tranny (they don't have the auto firmware working quite yet). Any owner in the Colorado Springs area will be given first dibs. If nobody in the springs steps up we will widen our area.
We may need the car for up to a week. If everything goes 100% smoothly we should just need the car for a day. However this is the first unit to be used outside of Cobb's lab and there is a very real possibility that the ECU might lock up. If this happens the ECU will need to be sent to Cobb so they can figure out why it locked up. This possibility makes us exclude anybody who uses the FE as their one and only daily driven car.
We haven't worked out the details with Cobb yet about what the compensation will be for the guinea pig. My conversation this morning with Cobb went something like this
"Uh... we just had an accessport show up on our doorstep with a box code we've never seen before... what the hell is it?"
"Oh, that's an RX-8 AP. I didn't know we were sending those out yet. Find someone to test it on"
"Uh... ok... what are they getting in return?"
"We don't know yet, just find a car to test in on"
It really is a great system. If any of you have seen it in action on the Subaru stuff you'll know it's really the only worthwhile tuning solution out there for those cars.
So yeah... anyone?
I'm more than happy to answer any questions.
Your car will be in good hands. We have logged over 7,000 miles on our dyno rollers and have never hurt an engine. We've had a few let go on the dyno... but those were all the result of some dunce we weren't involved with putting something together wrong and renting the dyno.
