I think that I will be able to meet everyone on the 20th. My plans might change because my team is practicing for a paintball tournament but I will let everyone know what happens. If anyone has a specific time we could meet that would be even better. sounds like a bunch of fun.

thanks,
steve

p.s. Does anyone here own a dark green 8. I saw it at kiva juice, the one just off of san mateo and I-40 on Monday the 7th. my friend and I parked our bikes in front of it. just curious.

NM Sportscar Challenge: Inaugural Military Appreciation Sportscar Challenge at Sandia Motorsports Park Nov. 12. It’s open to all sports cars and sports sedans, and instructors will accompany first-timers. It will be a five-lap autocross format on the road course. Tech inspection begins at 7:30 a.m., track talk will be at 8:30 and driving begins at 9:30. Cost is $50 and military folks have priority, but non-military are welcome on a space-available basis. Bring your own lunch, water and sunscreen, and a post-event social is planned

I just talk to Todd one of the ogranizers and he said they have plenty of openings still. I don't think I will race, but plan on checking it out. MD are you going to take your 8 out on the track?

By the way I just left a note on two yellow 8's near the Costco by Montano. Let's hope they pay a visit.

Hey all,
Just wanted to pop on this thread to introduce myself. I'm actually deployed to Iraq right now, but as soon as I get back to Germany I'm PCSing to Holloman. I currently own a FC (check my sig), but am selling it before I leave for the states and am going to buy a 8 when I get there. I've already got my wife all psyched up about the fact there are back seats for hauling the kid, lol. Anyways, I don't remember seeing it in any of the older posts, but are there any tentative plans for meets this spring?? Wish I could make that track day, sounds like a blast, but then again I get the autobahn at home

Later,
Josh

Josh, Welcome

The Rocky Mountain RX8 club, of which New Mexico is part, holds a rally in the Denver area each year in the June timeframe. This year track day was part of the two day rally. I'm not sure what the plans are for next year just yet, but keep an eye out on this forum for any updates. I have gone the two years it has been held (remember the 8's haven't been out long) and it was a blast. The first day has included a drive on some of the really fun mountain roads west of denver. One of the local RX8 dealers hosted the rally the first two years and might for 06 as well.

Hi All,
I spoke with two 8 owners yesterday, not sure if they will visit but hope they do. Looking forward to the possible Nov. 20th meet up. Any ideas of where we want to meet. Today I went to the Military Appreciation Sportscar Challenge out at Sandia Motorsports Park. No 8's but since it was my first time watching road course event I didn't sign up... After watching for about 2 hours I regret not doing it ... There were several spinouts today that were pretty entertaining. There were a lot of Miata's there. I will definitely make effort to enter in the next similar event. Attached is a picture from todays event. If anyone needs to contact me.. as a reminder my email address is billsbar14@gmail.com

I think at this time it's you, kewl, myself and possibly Ace1810 (Steve). I just emailed Steve to see if he can make it. Any thoughts on place and time. It's to bad Stinger can't make it. I hit up 4, 8 owners last week but no new posts.

Stinger--- Happy birthday to your son/daughter.

Well how about we meet up at the Range Cafe on Menual, just north of University for breakfast, say 9am, and then take a drive on 14 south (337) to Mountainair. 14 (337) is off of I40 East in the Tijeras Canyon. If we like the south 14 route we can come back from Mountainair that way or take 60 to Belen to or 55 to Estancia. Both 60 and 55 are long straight sections of road. I like the 337 return since it is a winding road....

We could also take 14 north to Madrid with a stop at the Mine Shaft Tavern...

I will try to go there, but it takes me 2 hours to get to Albuquerque from Los Alamos. I also need to take my car to service. I am not happy with my gear box. In the cold it is very difficult to put in gear. Reverse is particularly hard. When it warms up it gets better but if I rev the engine over 6000 changing gear needs quite a bit of force. I just changed my transmission fluid to Redline yesterday. It helped a bit, but I think it still needs improvement. Where do you guys think I should take my car? I don't want them to screw it up even more. I only have 2500 miles on here.

Sunday's plans sound great.

faffy.........

I personally have been taking my 8 to University Mazda ph. (505) 761-1900 and have been very pleased. I was going to Rich Mazda but I received several door dings and poor service there.

It's on the south side of Menaul, just east of university. 2200 Menaul, ph. 888-1660. Hope that helps. I believe a VillageInn or Ihop is accross the street on the North side.

I can not confirm it as yet, but Me and the family might be able to make it in time for breakfast to meet everyone. But alas we will not be able to do the drive with the Birthday party starting at 1pm. I will let you know for sure later in the week if we will or will not be there at the RANGE

Hi NM Forum!

I was wondering, have any of you tried putting TRICK fuel in your 8? I just did today and WOW what a difference it made.

It is 104 octane. I put in 6 gallons (4.95 per gal) and mixed it with 91 octane. My 8 had more get up and go than it ever has had! I highly recomend all of you trying it at least once to see the difference some high octane fuel can make. There is one gas station that I know of in ABQ that you can get it at. It is on the SE cornner of Indian School and Juan Tabo and it is called Premier Gas. This Station also is the cheapiest gas station in that I have seen in ABQ.

faffy, would it help if we moved the time to 10am instead of 9? I think everyone would be willing to consider a move if it would help you....everyone agree? Does the move cause issue for anyone?

That would be nice, but if stinger can not make it by 10:00, I can come at 9:00. It is not a big deal.

Okay, here is what I think we will do. Range at 9:30am - split the difference. Once breakfast is complete we will head out to NM14 for the drive heading either north or south based on what we decide at breakfast. If you have not been to the Range I think you will find it an interesting place. This Range is the best of the three in my opinion....not that, that is worth much I know.

We look fowarding to trying out MadDog's turbocharged RX8. We will not, however, let him lead the pack on the drive since we will not be able to keep up...I know I've driven his 8 and that was before it was all tuned up.....it was impressive to say the least.

Everyone who reads this is welcome to join us...I hope we will see many RX8's and even RX7's at the Range...

See ya Sunday!
