Howdy all,
Kewl, the name of the BBQ place is Ribs and they are in a strip mall. The mall is on the east side of highway 14 just past the post office (I think). I have eaten there many times and their food is pretty good.
That's all for now....gotta get back to work.

This sounds good to me! What time does everyone want to meet up? Just before lunch and then go on the drive? Prehaps we could meet up in the AM and then drive up to the crest then on to Madrid, then on the way back stop and have a late lunch/early dinner. If we were to meet up in the AM say @ the reality place (Justin remember where we stopped @ the end of our journey with the 7's) right there in Tjeres on south 314 just south of the intersection of old 66 then we could head out from there. This is just an idea.
Hello NMRX8! Nice to see you! We are talking about getting together on Sunday August 27th. If you can make it you are more than welcome! It sure would be great to meet another 8 owner!

I think traffic would probably be lighter going up Sandias in the mornings. So maybe people that want to do that drive can meet a little earlier like 10 am. Take about an hour to go to the top and back.. then meet at the the BBQ place say 11:30 and meet the rest of the group, eat and then move on to madrid. We driving anyone crazy yet...LOL..
Any RX-7's that want to come are more than welcome too.

awwww... crud! I think I might be out of town on the 27th.
Speaking of the Auto-X... we were thinking of doing an off-time one this weekend (well, today), but I'm not sure what the status is of that... I called Dudley last night and he's pretty sick so I'll call him in a bit once it's not quite so early and see what the status is.

I just got off the phone with Dudley's wife... he's still really sick... so between that and the weather forcast he's decided to call it off for today. The next scheduled race night is the first weekend of September then... (9/2?).
Kind of sucks, but at least we were able to have some fun with the wet weather last time... even if it wasn't timed

Sorry to hear Dudley's not feeling well. Give him our best and hope that he is doing better soon.
It kind of looks like it might be raining tonight anyway, so maybe a postponement isn't a bad idea. I mean who wants to get their 8 dirty...again.

I sure hope that it is nothing serious Will. Yes please give him mine and my kids best!
Thanks for the info about tonight, but I had kinda figured that it would not be on for this evening because of the predicted weather forcast.

Hey everyone! Whats up? So how many are going to make it this Sunday? Have we decided on at time? I agree with Ocho about the drive up to the Crest needing to be a lil earlier for those who want to go up there. Then going and grabing a bite for lunch at Ribs. I also would not mind the drive to Madrid after lunch. Does anyone have a meeting place in mind?

I have visitors in town this weekend so I'm not going to say I can make it...although one never knows. Never-the-less...
This is a great time for all you RX8 owners to get together to share the adventure and discussions/bets on who get a replacement engine in the upcoming recall... I hope not me!!
So I hope everyone will make an effort to come out on Sunday. I'm going to try even with visitors in town. Besides...the ribs are good....

Whaz up,
We will be making the trip this Sunday. I say we meet around 9:30 or 10:00 either in the parking lot of Molly's Bar (on the right just after exiting I-40 but before you cross back under) or in the parking lot of Ribs BBQ.
We can head up to the Crest, take in the sights, and then head back to Ribs for lunch at around 11:30 or 12:00.
Those of us interested in (of course I am) can head on to Madrid around 12:30 or 1:00. We can stop in at the Mine Shaft and enjoy a libation or whatever anyone else would like to do. After that, everyone's on their own. We can all head back together or just leave when we're ready.
BTW, have you all been checking the re-call thread. The peeps are getting a little crazy. It will be interesting to see what will happen when the local dealers get the official word from MNAO. I logged on to the Mazda USA owners website and nothing is listed yet. Everyone thinks it will hit later this week or early next.
See ya Sunday morning!

I just got my car yesterday and WILL be showing up at: Ribs Hickory Smoked Pit Bar BBQ, 12220 N Hwy 14. around 9:30am on the 27th (sunday). for the Sandia Drive. My uncle is the head of NM state police and he agreed to let any rx8 drive up to 100mph unless it was reckless driving. Looking forward to it!
p.s. Joking about the 100mph thing.

Time 930 at the Ribs parking lot sounds good place to meet. Then sandia drive and lunch at 12ish sounds good to me.. Madrid sounds great also.. Yes it will be interesting how this recall plays out. I have a few mods that I am holding off on now until this recall business is out of the bag.
Faffy and Kewl it's a shame that you can't make it. txag98 you coming?
Zeblien welcome to 8 ownership, you will love the car! Approval for only a 100mph... I break that on a daily basis... ... look forward to meeting you..
Should be fun drive and a good time as always.

So we are up to 3 yes and 2 no. What about you MadDog? Last I heard Ocho was going to make it as well, so that takes us to 4 yes.
zeblien it is good to meet you. What year is your 8? Color? Looking forward to seeing you there at Molly's Bar on the 27th between 9:30 & 10:00am. Ribs is where we are heading for lunch after the crest drive.

Missed you on Sunday, sorry you couldn't make it. Nice drive and lunch...but I can't speak for the second part of the drive. It must have been fun however.

Hi All,
Well the trip was a blast! As always.. All that didn't go sorry that you couldn't make it. But it was fun, good food, drinks and laughs... and aaa some screams of terror... from my car... and others LOL... Madrid was nice, but very busy.. cold beers hit the spot.
en fuego and I head out of Madrid and went east on 334 which takes us back to Edgewood. Note zeblien it was good that you continued on to ABQ and not the mountain road. We were doing a brisk 80+ up “Mountain Mother ******”.. as the Santa Fe Sheriff advised us. Let’s just say at the height of the pass, going about 70 MPH or so in a 45 mph zone (Sheriff advised 35mph zone). LOL… we flew past a Sheriff, he did not have radar on, but knew we were taking advantage of the cars performance. So once Sheriff rounded us up to a stop, he approached with a firm look on his face… stepping to en fuego’s red 8. The sheriff then made his way to my car, asking me how fast I was going. I politely lied and said 50 or so… LOL… he informed me that my buddy had admitted to enjoying the curves of the road. So after some more small talk, sheriff ran our information. As we were both clean the sheriff came back and was much nicer and explained that we have some impressive cars to be doing such high speeds on “Mountain Mother ******”, which the local cyclist and neighbors call it. LOL he also admitted if he had as nice of cars he would probably be doing the same. Well after some good laughs he let us go on our way.. NO Tickets given that day… However, our return rate of speed was much lower at that point, tails between our legs… LOL.. But a great experience. It would have been interesting if all five of us had been driving.. LOL..
