Hey all. I am stationed here in Texas with the USAF and will soon be moving to New Mexico. I should be there by July. Just wanted to drop a line to let you know I'll be moving to your neck of the woods. Anyone near Clovis/Cannon AFB area?? If so, I'll look you up when I get there.

Haven't heard from anyone in the Clovis area, but that doesn't mean much does it? Welcome to NM (when you finally do get here)....hope you enjoy your assignment at Cannon. Keep checking in to see what we might have going on here in the Albuquerque area, maybe we will have a chance to get some of the other 8's together for a visit and shop talk. If you're coming our way sometime let us know....we can always arrange something. We are always looking for an excuse...

well thanks to Omicron I'm back too!
somehow the board forgot my password - been working for several days trying to get back - Paul reset me a new password so here I am (so long as I can remember it of course) LOL. My schedule's pretty good when I'm here - have a show to attend in Ft Worth weekend after this then will be gone about six days in California. But back after that. Just got the 8 washed and waxed so at least there's something resembling the sun out here on the east side of the mountains.
Clovis is a bit under 4 hours from Albuquerque (bit less from here, natch) - I make it in 3 1/2 from my place when transporting alpacas back and forth to a friend whose ranch is there.
The Ribs place we talked about on 14 would be a nice gather I think. But I'm open to whatever. If there's any place between here and Clovis, that would be nice once Tex gets there - Moriarty would be fairly close to most of us and save him 45 minutes or so I think but I don't know what's there. Clines Corners is maybe an hour from ABQ and would save him a bit over an hour - there's a truck place there - don't recall if there's a sit down though.
looking forward to seeing everyone

Hey just wondering if the owner of a slow 8 AT can hang out too in the wonderful world of New Mexico. I usually spend my weekends between Albuqturkey and Denver. ( I promise not to give away any of the secert 6 speed handshakes or club rules)

Sorry I should of said slower AT instead of slow AT.
Anyway its Titanium grey with the GT package. Just a single cd player and dvd nav system so I don't get to lost on my way to and from work.
I should be down this weekend.
So far my favorite places to hang out have been Oneil's uptown and Baggins off of lomas.
Thanks for the welcome and invite to hang out. and Drive
bummer life got a little strange tonight I wont be heading down after all this weekend. Maybe next one or sometime in March.
sorry

Hey all,
How was the meet yesterday? Sorry I missed it. Last minute drama put the kaibash on goint to the meet. Anybody got any good mods to talk about? I installed the CZ and I've got it tuned almost exactly how I want it. A pretty good mod if you can get one for about $300 used. I have the programming equip availble for folks to borrow, too. A real noticable gain in HP. I suspect that I've added close to 20HP with the CZ. A few more HP are possible with it.

Okay NM it is time to show up at the June RX8 rally in Colorado. RonD-NM and I went last year and had a great time. The dates are 4 and 5 June in the Denver area. The 5 June is a planned track day...you get a little education on track driving, spend some time drive on the track...and have lots of fun doing it. If you need more information send me a PM. I plan on driving up on June 3rd. It would be nice to go as a group....lets hear from you!!

I'm in! I can't wait! I was just looking at the Rocky Mnt. RX8 club page and the pics and description of last year's event look incredible! We should definitely plan on a caravan from NM.
Its been FOREVER since we got together! I know that's mostly my own fault, but lets see if we can get Ron and the boyz together soon. I've added a CZ, an RB intake and have a high-flow cat on the way. I am getting a lot of HP for a naturally asipirated motor! You guys need to take a spin and see what about $1k can get you in terms of N/A mods!

Buenos Dias! Picked up My Shinka from Santa Fe last Saturday. After a couple decades of only having SUV's, it's awesome to have a slick little road car again. Can't wait to to take it up north in the mountains.

Welcome! And congratulations on the Shinka 8. Can't wait to see it. Take a read on this forum on the RX8 rally being held in Denver CO on June 4 & 5. Several of us NM 8 owners are going and we would love to have you join us. It isn't too late to make the trip.
I can tell you that last years event was great fun and there were some really awesome mountain roads that we drove during the event...and there was a track day for those who wanted to try their hand with their RX8 on track.
I know you will love your 8, just be sure to read as much as you can on how to care for that new non-SUV engine. It is more understanding it then any extra or special work to maintain it. I'm coming up on two years with my 8 and I still love it.

Thanks Kewl, but next weekend is a planned relaxing camping weekend up in Bland Canyon and a weekend off for MyShinka) It's been a couple years since we've been able to camp after Memorial Day (due to fire restrictions) and ..well.. can't do everthing.
Cheers!

RotorFest 2005
Sorry this is so late guys, I had problems with registration. Anyway Rotary RX New Mexico's first real rotary shop is sponsering the first annual Rotorfest BBQ to be held on the 11th of this month at Rotary RX. We would really love to see some 8's there. We already have quite a few 7's of every generation coming from all over the state, but no 8's so far. It would be a great way to meet other rotor heads here in New Mexico along with some great food!
Hope to see some of you guys there

I just returned from the RockyMountainRX8 Rally in Denver CO, but I will be there on Sat around noon..with my RX8. Hopefully not the only one. I hate being so badly outnumbered.
