NM rotary roll out

So what is the dog's name,...Z?
It was a good turn out and I'm sorry about the long drive. Next time we will make it a really short, or shorter drive. Thanks for joining us on the drive and sharing the pictures...

Heh, I almost forgot about that dog that was running in the street... it decided to cut right in front of me. came very close to hitting it.
Oh yeah, and I got confirmation on the autocross... it'll be on Saturday, April 1st from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. It's going to be in the Hope church parking lot which is on Juan Tabo about 1/3 mile north of montgomery across from the fire station.
We'll be getting there around 5:00 to set up... We've never run these on a Saturday before, but if it's anything like years past... it's best to arrive early before the line gets long.
Here's the link to the website that they have set up for it... I've got something I hacked up that's got more info ready to go, I just have to track down the webmaster and see if they'll let me modify the page they have posted.
http://www.hopeevfree.com/events/arta/index.htm
I'm going to try and get all the results posted too (without any personal info, of course!) after it's done so people can go back later and see the results.
Anyways, it's free of charge and just for fun...

What was Stinger worried about....with the black bra and the black dog....he should have gone for the dog! The stupid dog....
The yell back to the Z was unexpected to be sure....and funny...too bad she wasn't a little bit faster on the comeback to be sure the Z heard it....
Nice pictures Sik....thanks for taking them and sharing...

I didn't mind the drive either...of course I knew what to expect. I had a good time as well I just feel bad that I didn't do a better job of making it clear so that everyone knew. Perhaps we should have just driven to the Pondarosa on 337 and back....had lunch there. Their food is excellent as well....just no long straight road sections to 'test' the car on.
Has everyone checked their oil levels!!??
txag98 thanks for the autocross information. I will have to see about getting to the event...maybe just to check it out the first time and try it next time. But I'll bring the helmet just in case.... Glad you could join us on Saturday, I hope you enjoyed it...maybe next time we won't put so many miles on the cars....lol. Not that you don't already have lots on yours. Drop me a line if you have any questions on the car...after 2.5 years I have learned a few things about the does and don't. Keep any eye open for the June Colorado RX8 meet and track day..you might want to consider going. Usually the early part of June.

Well it was long trip but I think a few people got to take their cars faster and for longer period of time than ever before. I had the round trip at about 245 miles. I'm fortunate to get 22 mpg so the trip wasn't as ruff on the wallet as others. But I'm glad everyone spent the cash and took the time. I really enjoyed it and we should plan on a shorter trip real soon. Top of the sandias is always a fun one. Everyone's car's looked great. We sure turned a lot of people's heads.

Do you have the intake as well as the RB exhaust? Did those have any impact on the mileage?

Well I probably paid the most for gas then anyone(with my 190 on a full tank), but it was well worth it, I would do it every weekend if I had the chance with everyone. I must Kewl, I was shocked, I was hoping you weren't getting scared with me being a few inches from you at 100mph. I must say the old guy can drive (j/k with you). although it is a good thing you were in front of me, cause I would have just left everyone. Me you and that 7 had no fear taking turns at those speeds. I remember looking back a few times and not seeing anyone else for a good 10-15 miles.
#43
Yeah you are right Sik but you have to also remember it took me a while to get around everyone else I only had to wait till I was able to pass almost every car out there except for the 3 of you in the front and the last 2 people in line behinde me and I did it all in one pass to boot.

I don't know if I can make it, I have my infant (7 mos.) son this weekend by myslef. So I might not be able, to unless I get a mini helmet for my son, and they don't mind a baby seat in the back. lol. But I might come and watch, Man got my tires on too.

I don't know about anyone else but I felt like my speedo was reading way low... The way the car felt and handled we couldn't have been going too fast. Smooth, tight, crisp....maybe it was the tires.... I didn't mind you checking out my license tag mounting screws Sik...it is good to know someone was watching out for the old man in the group. Nothing worse then having your tag fall off out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks. Maybe next time you will want to check it when the car is sitting still. Heck I just figured you were wanting to draft to save fuel...we all know how thirsty that car of yours is. I'm more impressed that you took some of those pictures at speed.... Next time I think I'll try the drive from the rear of the pack instead of the front. And no....I don't think you would have gotten too far away if you were in front...
I plan on making the autoX this weekend. Most likely just to watch this time, but I'll bring along the helmet just in case.
And while I don't wish to make this point too obvious...did anyone notice that on the serious, real roads (not the easy Interstate), the 8's were always out front? And as Sik pointed out...miles outfront...interesting indeed...

lol I was a bit close, almost had to rub you on that turn when you couldn't get into second, and Kewl you have to lead show those younger owners how its down. (I will always be one inch behind you lol). After you have been racing your car for as long as I have I know the limits and what my tire limits are, I didn't get any squeel so we weren't even close to pushing it yet.

Yeah, sorry about that second gear issue....I'll practice some so that doesn't happen again.
After my track day I did learn that curves like what we encountered were nothing for this car. If any 8 owner has a chance to attend and partcipate in a track day where you get to drive (in a controlled environment we hope) on a road course, do it! The experience, both in learning some about your driving skills, or lack there of, and the ability of the 8's handling is worth every penny spent on tires.

It's generally very informal... helmets have been optional... the course is pretty tight so it helps to keep the speeds under control--I don't think anyone ever gets out of first gear. That said, if you've got a helmet I'd say it's not a bad idea to bring it anyways.
