I haven't ever taken my 8 to Freeway or Allan Patch. At Freeway, I have seen the Sales Dept. At the time I worked at Ken Garff, and we had taken in my 8. I decided to check into the prices of new. The one that I bought had 11,000 miles on it. Not bad, but I thought if payments are gonna be close, I thought I would check into an 05. I would say that the drive from West Valley to Freeway, was a waste. I was let down on the way I was treated by the sales. Which, I was critical as I was a car salesman myself. I went with the one we had taken in. The service Dept, at Freeway seemed nice. I have called to Allen Patch they seemed really nice and helpful. But Dahle, I would stay far from, I wouldn't trust them with anything. I am thinking of taking to Allen or Bountiful to make sure the recalls were done correctly. What do you all think?

lovinmy05 10-19-2005 02:15 AM

problems with D. Dahle?

I got my car there. They did the recalls. When i found scoring on my brake rotors they replaces the pads and rotors for free. When i hit the jack rabbit and busted up the front splash guard they did a really good job replacing it for me fast. I guess it's all about personal experience though. I shopped around alot and found that the most personable was D. Dahle. I dunno. Well i know december is a busy month for alot of people but i would like to meet sometime in there with a few. Maybe see what ppl have done.

Hello, Fellow 8 owners. I just got a new 8 and love it. It is just a plain one. but that is how I liked it. Don't see many on the road here. I'm from Lindon. Seen one in Lehi and one out in Eagle Mt. area but that is about it

New Utard 8 owner

I just bought an 8!!! I live in Logan (probably a bad time/place for an 8 but I know from the countless test drives that I love it anyway) and I think I've only seen two other 8s up here, and one of them had a 4sale sign on it... It's good to be different. I have to go to Houston to pick it up (bought it on eBay) on saturday then it's shiftin' and driftin' at 5k rpm. Anyone know what Customer Service is like when you've been to a dealer, decided not to buy from them then took your 8 (bought from somewhere else) in for service?

csaltkill 11-17-2005 12:45 PM

I bought my car slightly used. At the time I was working at a car dealership. As for service, I would say the best Customer Service was at Bountiful, it was a very nice facility. However, actual work. I would go somewhere else. D. Dahle as you can see in earlier posts, I would completely skip, unless you just want an oil change. I have only experience with Freeway in the sales dept, as I looked at new before used. So, I can't say anything positive or negative there. However, if it's possible I would go to Legacy Mazda in Orem. In speaking with there service depts, they are very nice and honest. However, I haven't had a chance to get any work done there yet. I will give them a try.

Congratulations! I wonder if it's me you've seen... I work in Orem/Lindon and have been out to Eagle Mt. several times in the past few months. I have a titanium gray RX-8.

I may have seen you on the freeway a time or two. The one I see out west all the time is dark green. I would really like to see one around here that has exaust and some other mods done. All the 8's I see are stock.

zoom44 01-27-2006 12:08 PM

anybody around the orem area interested in a little product testing? wont cost you anything but a little time. just to check if the product is fully compatible with the 8.it a scan tool similar to harrisonn or hymee but with some different features. send me a pm.

zoom44 05-18-2006 11:41 AM

anyone in the Utah area want to help a brother out?

Landon_Starr 05-18-2006 07:57 PM

If I help out, do I get to keep the product after testing...? :)

--Landon

zoom44 05-19-2006 08:26 PM

no it would just be a few minutes to connect up and make sure it is compatible.

Landon_Starr 05-20-2006 01:20 AM

Not much incentive...

zoom44 05-21-2006 01:19 AM

there is no incentive other than doing me a favor that could in return get you a cold beverage if we ever met in person

Attn: RX-8 owners in the SLC, UT area

COBB Tuning is in need of some RX-8s to help us finalize our AccessPORT - ECU Programmer development. We currently own a 2005 RX-8 6MT but would like to acquire the ECU data from the following models:

2003-2004 6MT
2003-2005 AT
2006 ALL

The process takes only a few minutes and will leave no trace. All we're doing is reading the ROM data from your ECU so we can build our tuning library.

Those who volunteer will be eligible for a discount on dyno time (we have AWD/2WD chassis dynos) or a discount on the AccessPORT when it's released hopefully later this year. Whichever you prefer.

It should not matter if you have any piggybacks installed currently. We are reading the data through your OBD-2 port under the dash so we don't need to see or touch the ECU or anything else under the hood.

If interested, please make an appointment by emailing me directly at trey (at) cobbtuning.com.

Best regards,
Trey @ COBB

PLEASE tell me someone is helping Cobb!!!!

patrick_andraste 06-15-2006 01:17 PM

I'll Drive to Utah to help out!
I have a 2004 6MT

Trey@COBB 06-15-2006 01:50 PM

Thanks for the responses, I don't think it'll be quite necessary for anyone to drive across multiple states just yet. We have some locals who are helping as well as some trips planned in the near future to Colorado, California, etc where we can acquire some needed data as well.

Things are still moving forward without us having every single ECU program for every single year, it'll just be something we'll obviously need in place prior to a release. Until then, we still have plenty of programming and hardware construction to do. :)

Cheers,
Trey @ COBB

Am I crazy???? Last week, I traded my RX-8 in for a CX-7......... Anyone who's read my previous posts knows my "problems" Mazda and the dealerships basically kept telling me that there was nothing they could find wrong and anything that I pointed out wrong was "normal" or "suppose to act/be like that". So I decided I didn't want a RX-8 that that was "normal" in. So in the mean time I will enjoy my CX-7 and wait for a MS RX-8 or something.

zoom44 07-02-2006 11:02 AM

yes you'e nuts.

weird - for some reason the OP, dragonstar, decided to delete this thread. cant see any reason to do that so i have undeleted it. please dont do that again. the other utah folks like having it.

dragonstar stop deleting this thread unless you can pm me with a good reason to do so.

well im in oregon so not much help. you need to get the cel code and then post this up in the issues and problems section. we'll figure it out:)

csaltkill 07-12-2006 11:57 AM

Orem

Hey Maybeashinka?,

I can understand the frustrations with the Murray dealer. Have you tried Legacy Mazda in Orem? I have never been there, but from talking with the people in service on the phone, they are seem very nice. I have been to the Ogden, and Bountiful one. I don't prefer really any of those.

Paxhumas 08-31-2006 12:42 PM

Hey i am from Rock Springs Wyoming and i would like to know your opions on all the mazda dealers down there i have heard okay things about Dahle in murray but nothing on the others i just really want to know if it is okay to bring my car down there for warranty issuses and if they would be willing to sell the full tech manual for the car Thanks.

Utah RX-8 owners

I keep seeing a blue RX-8 on I-215. Going south in the morning, north in the afternoon. Anybody? Anybody?

maul 09-14-2007 01:25 PM

I have an Winning Blue but I go North on I-15 in the morning and south in the Afternoon :) then head west

WreakLoosE 09-14-2007 07:36 PM

It may be me.. I have a Galixy Grey RX8 With a Carbon Fiber Hood Going South I15 in the Morning 7-8 ish to the 215 W and I take the 215 E to the I15 N in the after noon arround 2 - 3 ish. Today was about 3-4 ish.

WreakLoosE 09-14-2007 07:37 PM

I seen a Red one today going south with me on the 15. And a yellow one at the 711 gas station in Roy ut today at about 4pm.

WreakLoosE 09-14-2007 07:39 PM

I got another quick question. This may belong in the Tech side but I will shoot.

Do I need to get my 8 Reflashed because I am Higher Elevation now than I was in Cali. ?? does any body know??

Jethro Tull 09-14-2007 10:57 PM

Boy, that's a good one. I have no idea...better ask the gurus in the Tech section- or call a local dealer. Closest one to you is Bountiful Mazda...good guys, I've bought accessories from them.

Jethro Tull 09-15-2007 05:30 PM

Saturday afternoon I passed a grey RX-8 going eastbound on 4100 so. at about 45th west in West Valley. Had a temporary plate taped-on so it's a recent purchase. Couldn't tell if it was used or new- I was going westbound in my Explorer so only glimpsed it for a moment. Looked like 2 young guys, I think the driver had a soul patch or goatee. Anybody?

Also Friday night, a white one going south on 2700 west through Taylorsville. Looked like a middle-aged couple. Anybody?

I had my silver 8 out on Friday morning & afternoon, up in North Salt Lake for a supplier's open-house, I took 215 both ways.

Jethro Tull 09-17-2007 12:48 PM

Has anybody else in Utah installed the clear corner lenses?

WreakLoosE 09-17-2007 12:50 PM

I am planning to. Has anybody installed some Headers yet?

Jethro Tull 09-17-2007 02:36 PM

I'm not doing any powertrain mods until it's completely paid-off, and the (extended) warranty expires. Mine's an '07, just bought it BN in March. 3200 miles. I suppose I could have the dealer install the Mazda header without warranty problems.

I've thought about buying a 2nd RX-8, a used one, say an '05 with reasonably low miles, and then do some mods on that one- but the wife is still shaking her head on that plan unfortunately...unless it becomes hers!!

DariusDemon 09-18-2007 03:12 PM

haha don't you hate when they do that?

DariusDemon 09-18-2007 03:17 PM

By the way I met another rx-8 owner at some street races, however the guy is kinda of annoying so I don't know if I want to introduce him to this. He doesn't believe me when I tell him the manual version has more horsepower than the auto, and his car sounds like crap and over heats alot. It's red with a fake mazda speed front bumper, a carbon fiber hood, and exhaust.

seriouscoin1 09-18-2007 04:10 PM

ya i live on 4700 south and redwood and see a red rx8 heading east on 4700 south and he has clear corners he flashes at me, i do the same is this anyone. i have a dark grey rx8.

DariusDemon 09-19-2007 05:52 AM

mine's black with black rims that have chrome lining. If you see me say hi!

Jethro Tull 09-19-2007 10:50 AM

This morning I saw a Nordic Green going south on I-215 at about 9:25 am, just approaching the 22nd North overpass. First N.G. 8 I've seen around here!

BTW, I in addition the clear corners I took off the sunroof wind deflector. The car now looks "cleaner", but there is more wind noise with the sunroof open. It was easy to remove and can go back on just as easy.

seriouscoin1 09-19-2007 03:51 PM

i have seen a black rx8 looks like it has more of dark bronze rims. i love the black tho

Jethro Tull 09-19-2007 08:09 PM

It's strange, guys, but I hardly ever saw any RX-8's around here since they were introduced, but since last spring they've been popping-up everywhere.
I wonder if it's just that I didn't notice them as much before, or if there actually are more used ones on the road, now that the '04's are nearly 4 years old?

kobe24mvp 09-22-2007 03:43 PM

I'm usually going south on i-15 between 6:30 and 7:30. i have a black one

dirty8 09-22-2007 06:04 PM

Im new to utah and new to the 8's, but i love mine, is there anyone here who lives in the saint george area with an 8, iv'e olny seen a few

My 8 isn't my daily commuter. I usually drive my Explorer to work and just take the 8 out on weekends or in the evenings. So you won't see me on the freeway during rush hour unless the Ford is in the shop.

Jethro Tull 09-24-2007 12:44 AM

Well, I'm glad I took the 8 out Friday night, 'cause the rain came Saturday afternoon and it's been in the garage ever since.

Since I bought it in March, I've only been caught in the rain exactly twice. :icon_no2:

Darius, about where was this street race? I saw a rather beat-up red RX-8 driven by a guy about your age, could this be the same one?

Jethro Tull 09-26-2007 02:53 PM

Saw one of those deep red 8's coming south on I-215 on Tuesday morning. Couldn't tell the gender of the driver unfortunately.

Today was one of those rare days that I drove my 8 to work. Too nice of a morning to waste it in the Explorer. Might have to leave early and take the "long way" home!

BTW, today I ordered a set of the "all weather" floor mats from Bountiful Mazda. Any Utah owners have them and care to comment on them?

DariusDemon 09-26-2007 02:58 PM

If it had a carbon fiber hood it's very possible it was him. The races usually happen a little NW of the I-80 Bangerter Highway intersection.

seriouscoin1 09-26-2007 03:41 PM

well if anyone is interested in buying an rx8 2004 galaxy grey let me know. im having a kid and its just too much for insurance being that i am 20yrs old.
