Jethro Tull 09-26-2007 03:50 PM

Oh, man, I'm so sorry to hear that you're giving up the 8. No way to swing a second, part-time job?

Just out of curiosity, what are you asking for it? How many miles? Condition?

seriouscoin1 09-26-2007 09:38 PM

i dont know maybe around 20,000 it has 32,000 miles its in great condition

bose 09-27-2007 02:04 PM

I just got my 8 yesterday, right now it's stock to the bone but I 'effing love it. It's so much more fun than my 02 protege. So if you see a long haired kid driving a silver '04, say hi.

Jethro Tull 09-27-2007 03:31 PM

^^bose, where abouts are you? I'm in Granger (West Valley), you might see me in my silver '07 once in a while. Former long-haired kid now short gray haired middle-aged guy with white goatee.

We've been trying to get the locals together at a restaurant or coffee shop for a while, so-far only Darius Demon and I have met.

You should get it listed if you are serious about selling it. There are a lot of used 8's on the market right now and I've seen prices on '04's down as low as $13,500. Do you owe money on it?

Man, my heart is just busting for your loss. I remember when I had to sell my RX-7 back in '81. It was like having to put my dog to sleep.

bose 09-28-2007 09:04 AM

I am up in Sandy, I think it would be killer if we could get a large group of us to go cruise around, Let me know when you guys are meeting next. I wanna come.

kobe24mvp 09-29-2007 03:43 PM

Where at in Sandy? I live about 20th east and 8200 south. i drive a black one

Jethro Tull 09-29-2007 08:44 PM

Tonight I saw what appears to be a Copper Red Shinka, '06 perhaps, parked in front of a house on 3600 West, at about 48th or 49th so.

Anybody?

(The more I see this color, the more I like it...)

Jethro Tull 10-01-2007 06:50 PM

Another Silver spotted today.

Northbound I-215, at about 7th north at 3:50 pm. Looked like a clone of my car!

Anybody?

DariusDemon 10-01-2007 11:34 PM

I saw another black one today in draper. That you Kobe? By the way Seriouscoin, FYI my 8 is an 05' and I bought it with 19k miles for 19k dollars two months ago. Problem with 8's is they depreciate crazy fast. Oh and I'm in Sandy too 114th and like 2700e but yeah we should definitely try and do another meet before it snows!....again.

WreakLoosE 10-02-2007 09:41 AM

I would like to get a meet going.. but maybe somewhere between Sandy and Ogen. I live in Roy and sandy is far from me.. But lets get something going.

bose 10-02-2007 11:03 AM

KOBE im just by the new home depot and alta canyon. 2015 east about 10000 south.

Took a drive up big cottonwood canyon sunday around 6, and saw a great looking charcol 8 going up as I was heading down, any takers there.

Jethro Tull 10-02-2007 01:13 PM

Maybe we could meet somewhere in Bountiful- it would be a good compromise for folks living far north and south. Or maybe by the airport?

A restaurant would be nice.

seriouscoin1 10-02-2007 02:28 PM

im just going to post it either way im going to have to eat some of the cost, i do owe on it. i have a guy wanting to buy it for 18k but well see

Jethro Tull 10-02-2007 02:51 PM

Do you have to sell it as soon as possible? Being in a hurry to sell will probably lower your eventual sales price...

WreakLoosE 10-02-2007 03:37 PM

Im down to meet in bountiful. Or we can do some local canyon runs. Im new to the area so I would need to meet people and follow to the canyon... But the bountiful place would be good for me to meet as well.. Maybe this Sunday not too much traffic would make a great drive.

seriouscoin1 10-02-2007 03:43 PM

well i would rather sell it before snow gets really bad. that would be fun drifting tho ha ha.

kobe24mvp 10-02-2007 10:45 PM

Nah that wasnt me in draper. im up to meet up with you guys. but yeah hopefully before it snows. I saw a blue on down in PG today

kobe24mvp 10-02-2007 10:46 PM

its really not that bad in the snow, i just got snow tires put on it and if you've driven in the snow before, its really no problem, just gotta be more careful than normal.

Jethro Tull 10-03-2007 10:29 AM

Saw that silver one again yesterday, Utah plate 314 MME. Anybody?

I broke-down and drove my 8 to work today since weekend weather is forecast to be crap. If Sunday is dry I might be convinced to take it out if everyone can agree on a place to meet.

Jethro Tull 10-05-2007 08:49 PM

Saw a blue RX-8 today, maybe an '04 or '05, in front of the American Express building, turning west into a subdivision. The driver was a young guy in a hoodie...looked like a gangsta wannabe. Anybody???

WreakLoosE 10-05-2007 11:03 PM

I saw a guy in a yellow one yesterday getting off on 5600s in Roy.. Anybody.

BTW. are we going to meet this sunday for a drive or what?

Oh next question. I am currently using T1R tires on some 5zigen Rims.. I want to put my stocks back on for the snow weather. Will they work ok in the snow?

Jethro Tull 10-05-2007 11:56 PM

I can't answer that. I bought my '07 in March- and won't be driving it in the snow. It's spending the winter in the garage and only coming-out for occassional warm-ups when it's clear and dry. I'll be bored in the Explorer from November through the end of February.

But I've read many posts that with all-season treads you should be OK, as long as you don't try to drive in 6" of snow and take it easy.

I'm OK for Sunday if it's not too far...pick a place...

WreakLoosE 10-06-2007 07:36 AM

Yea, thats just it.. I dont know if the oe tires are all season or not... If i remember correctly i dont think they are. but if so I would be happy..

Jethro Tull 10-06-2007 03:48 PM

^I have the OE Dunlops and they are most definitely NOT an all-season tire.
I've been thinking of buying a second set anyway, long before the Dunlops wear out. On the "Tires for Life" program, you have to get 25,000 miles on them before you get a new set, and I've never heard of anybody getting more than about 20,000 on them. So I may get a second set when they start to wear and then put them back on when I get close to 25,000 miles, so I can get the free set. What a pain and extra expense, though.

DariusDemon 10-07-2007 01:58 AM

Well seeing as to how it's already sunday, I'm thinking it's too late to do it today. I doubt everyone's going to get on and check this thread today. I'd name a place but i don't know bountiful all too well.

Jethro Tull 10-07-2007 02:47 PM

Weatherman says "no storms" for next week. Let's get something lined-up early so by the time Friday or Saturday rolls-around, everyone's on-board.

ToothFairy 10-07-2007 03:14 PM

Has it been snowing at all in Utah?

Jethro Tull 10-07-2007 04:33 PM

Hey TF, lots of snow in the mountains, one to two feet at the high elevations. I'm thinking of a day hike up there sometime soon.
Snow on some of the higher benches but it's melted quickly. In the valleys where most people live, just two days of rain. Today is bright, sunny and dry, but on the chilly side.
Temps for the next week are forecast to be about 70 during the day and sunny. No storms for at least a week. Indian summer.

ToothFairy 10-07-2007 04:57 PM

So are we going to have a Utah Rx8 party when I show up

Jethro Tull 10-07-2007 05:11 PM

When you show-up, count me in! Getting the rest of the locals together, however, has proven somewhat difficult...maybe you will be the needed catalyst!

DariusDemon 10-08-2007 12:17 AM

im down for next week maybe we should meet somewhere we all know for sure. Like the delta center. Wait excuse me, the "Energysolutions arena".

ToothFairy 10-08-2007 01:15 AM

Alright! If I can finance the darn car I will be posting here again!

Jethro Tull 10-08-2007 10:10 AM

Darius, funny you should mention that, I was thinking of Gateway...

Should be someplace with lots of free parking, near a restaurant maybe, and hopefully someplace where we can keep an eye on our cars...

Maybe the E center would be better, from a parking standpoint? It's also just off the freeway (I-215). Lots of places to get a bite or coffee right next door.

We'd have to get pictures if five or six of us showed-up.

ToothFairy, if you get the car, you'll always be an honorary member of the Mountain Forum!

WreakLoosE 10-08-2007 11:27 AM

Lol hay ToothFary, I just got out here from So cal my self.. I want to get a meet going soon.. So lets meet up this week the weather is supposed to be ok.. So lets set a day now to do it..

ToothFairy 10-08-2007 02:58 PM

oh jeez thanks :)

Jethro Tull 10-09-2007 01:33 PM

So, can the northern Utah owners get together this coming Saturday, the 13th?
E-Center parking lot? 2-ish? Anybody?

WreakLoosE 10-09-2007 02:37 PM

Sounds Like a Plan to me. I will be working in Salt Lake but I get off work at 3pm. So i will be a little late but thats all good with me.. LETS MAKE IT A DATE PEOPLE!!

bose 10-09-2007 03:40 PM

sounds great. I'll be there for sure!:boink:

Jethro Tull 10-09-2007 03:57 PM

Want to make it 3:30 so WreakLoosE can make it on-time? I'm OK w/3:30.

There's several restaurants right next door so we can get coffee or early dinner.

kobe24mvp 10-09-2007 09:27 PM

i can probably make it 3:30. hopefully nothing comes up.

DariusDemon 10-09-2007 11:15 PM

3:30 works for me...I hope there aren't any events scheduled for the E center at that time...

Jethro Tull 10-09-2007 11:33 PM

^If there is something happening at the E center, lets just pull into the Applebee's parking lot to the south of it on Decker Lake Dr., OK?

EDIT: I just checked the E-center's calendar and there is nothing scheduled for Saturday. We could meet there to look-over our cars and then go somewhere else if desired. Big parking lot, more room to open doors and hoods.

Guess I'm washing my 8 on Friday! :)

DariusDemon 10-10-2007 07:34 PM

also a good place to open throttles!

Jethro Tull 10-10-2007 08:05 PM

I just realized that the E center may only show events scheduled for the arena on the Website, and not the parking lot.

But we'll just play it by ear. Even if something's going on there, we can at least meet-up and then move if we need to.

Jethro Tull 10-11-2007 02:44 PM

RAIN forecast for Saturday afternoon/evening!

It had to happen, whats this, 4 Saturdays in a row?

If it's a downpour around 3:30 then I'll take a raincheck (pun intended) on the get-together at the E Center. If the rain holds off until evening then I'll be there.

Grrrr....since I plan on garaging my 8 starting in only 3 weeks, I want to drive it every chance I get before then! If November turns out dry and clear then maybe I'll delay it, but winter will be here sooner or later. :banghead:

Rx8-4-LiFe 10-11-2007 07:05 PM

Hey whats Up all. I Live in north ogden. buti got a question for you all. i want the greddy trubo and so aftermarket stuff on my car. but to be completely honest i dont know enough about cars to install all this myself.. it there anywhere reasonbly close i can go look at some stuff and get that greddy turbo i want lol thanks and sorry for the noob question.

WreakLoosE 10-11-2007 08:05 PM

Hay no problem. i live in Roy Im new to UT I dont know where to get some stuff out here at this time. But I do have some aftermarket stuff on my car you can check out if you would like. Oh yes 3:30 is perfect. Im good to go rain or shine..

Rx8-4-LiFe 10-11-2007 10:21 PM

Where is it that we are meeting? lol there is like 3 places you guys are saying. and its this saturday right?. idk if you guys want me there lol im all stock i kinda just want to me you all and ask some questions about the greddy and stufff. but Lmk. if you all dont mind me there i would Love to go.

Jethro Tull 10-12-2007 12:55 AM

Rx8-4-LiFe, you are most certainly welcome! My '07 is just about straight stock- no mods at all other than clear corners. There are so few of us around that it's just a kick to meet any other 8 owners. DariusDemon has a cool aftermarket intake on his that you may be interested in looking at.

We are pretty scattered all along the Wasatch front, so we want to meet this Saturday in the parking lot of the E Center, it's centrally located. Get to I-215 and get off on the 35th south exit, go east about a block to Decker Lake Drive, turn north at the light and just go a couple of blocks to the arena. It will be on the west side of the street, you can't miss it. It's where the local hockey team plays it's home games.

3:30 pm, so WreakLoosE can get there after work. We may adjourn to a nearby restaurant if anybody's interested and the married folk's spouses let them stay out for a while.
