Why NM 8 owners don't come to the forum
Ok I have seen many new RX-8 owners on the street. So why do we only have about 5 new members in the last 2 years. A few that I have spoken with don't bother registering on the site. Anyone looking at or for a RX8 on the web, gets rx8club.com on search hits. I wonder if it's just the people in NM, the type of people buying the car.... hell I don't know... just seems like pulling teeth to get anyone to take a little pride in their car and meet/hang out with some new people. Most have car payments so make the best of it Sh#$.... LOL maybe this is just my rant and nothing else... Anyone else's thoughts.

I dont know why they don't sign up either Ocho! I my self you could have tagged at least ten 8's in the last say year. Not one has joined. In fact I have even spoken to 2 of the owners in person and not one of them has joined. I know that there are more 8's out there and it sure would be great to have more join up. I wonder if we could talk to University Mazda & Rich Garcia Mazda to point potental & poeple who already have 8's towards the web site and the N.M. Forum? You know like they include a card or a flyer in the paper work at the time of sale? I know if it had not been for MadDog & his note I more than likely would have never found this site and all of you!

LOL... Hmmm you might have a point there.. the forum might help single out your car for the next theft... They figure out where you work and habits and Bam... cars gone for a new life in Mexico... Cars do disappear here at an alarming rate. I know RX-8 parts are harder to find compared to honda's. Can't get stuff at Napa/Autozone so less chop friendly.

Well, I figure NM is probably the least populated state in the "Mountain Region" yet has the most traffic on the board.
Different strokes......
<edit> Looked at who is with us and maybe not the least populated. But we beat CO for posts! </edit>

I just joined about a month ago. Got an invite from DJ. Where do you get those paper invites? I wouldn't have joined unless I got the invite. The site seems pretty well established, like everyone knows eachother and all the newbies get flamed. A little intimidating but I'm glad I joined it's an execellent site. If I can find those paper invites I'd invite more people to join. I run into rx-8's all the time. Thanks DJ

Welcome to your both!
AJ are you in the ABQ, NM area?
Both of you might want to check out the topic on our upcoming Albuquerque Track Day. You are welcome to join us for a little time on the track. You don't race anyone or the clock. The purpose is to get some instruction on driving and to get some time on the track.
The track is West of Albuquerque, easy to get too and in great shape. I think anyone who goes will have a great time. Check out the track day topic.

i only every once in a while pop in to check the NM threads but had to when i saw the title. i'm in CT now but am originally from NM and my family is still there. my sister has an 8 and lives in albuquerque (was Rio Rancho but i believe now she's somewhere closer to downtown) but hasn't signed up. for her the 8 is just another sports car to drive and not much more.
stinger- it's weird to see someone from peralta on the boards. i myself lived there from 5th grade through high school. when i'm down visiting i'll have to look you up since my mom still lives there. of course i obviously won't be driving my 8.

Well if you know where Joe's Pharmacy is the first street to the south you head west!

Most of the 8's I see around town are driven my middle-aged ladies. Let's face it guys, the 8 teetering on the edge of being a chick car. From the factory, it lacks the raw power to draw most of the males who are into cars as a hobby. Its also pretty refined, which draws the luxury-sport crowd. Bingo bango bongo - the perfect car for Tanoan wives to get to the tennis match and salon. It doen't seem to attract people who are enthusiasts. Most people just want to get from point A to point B. I'll bet they run the oil dry, too. Probably don't even know enough about the car to check it every thousand miles or so.
I would say that things would pick up once used 8's get cheap enough for RX-7 types to start buying and modding them, but I'm starting to doubt that, too. The Renesis hasn't yet reached the HP numbers that the older 13b's have, so why would they start with the Renesis platform?

Yes.. MadDog.. I have to agree. I have seen a fair share of the 40+ ladies driving them. In fact a blue one in Moriarty is driven by just that type..... Your points are valid indeed. yes only if ABQ was like Phoenix... LOL need some girls like on MazdaManiac's Avatar driving and meeting in the car club.

California, but they have a track here that I'm thinking about joining as soon as I get her modded a little bit more.

i think my brother's moving back that way so if you see someone in a blue cobalt SS you can shake your head at him for going the way of chevy. or if you see a blue SRT4 it's probably my sister's boyfriend so you can shake your head at him too. if you know who either of them are hit me with a PM and we'll have to see if it's the same guys. if you grew up there, depending on age, there's a chance we even happen to know each other - small world.

The 8 as a chick car??
Female drivers, "chick car"? I can see that, most Mustang drivers I see are women, so one can probably extend the label to just about anything (including Hummers).
Actaully a lot of middle-aged folks of both genders drive the 8. I'm in Utah, (male) and there are about three Utah owners registered (that post, anyway), though I see a lot of 8's on the road- and yes about half are driven by women and most of those are "my age" (late 40's) or older. The older the driver, the less chance of them spending any time on an on-line forum. That will change when the current teens-30's reach middle age. Of course by then, the 8 will be history!

there is a really nice white 8 around, with about the same amount of mods as mine. has SR exhaust/intake, after market rims... 20 something guy.. I think his name was jason. Talked to him about 6 months ago at a car wash.. I see his car around the Central/San Mateo area once and awhile... I thought he would join but, never did.. So Jason if your reading... get to posting and come out to the next event..
I know the blue 8 at montgomery shopping center is driven by a Verizon Sales Manager. she had a heart attack when she saw me leaving a note.. She came running out asking if I hit her.. LOL..

As for new members I have a new one!!! He is a co-worker of mine and had riden in & I was even nice enough to let him drive my 8 a couple of timeslast summer. He loved it and finaly bought his TI 8 yesterday! He said that he would be signing up here and that he plans on going to the Track Day next Sunday to watch. He also would like to see the video with us once we have a date for it. He is really enthusiastic about his 8! You should have seen this kids eyes today when I saw him at work! It was like seeing a lil kid at xmas with his most favorite toy!
