Adjustable is nice, but i'd set the height once and never touch it again. I'm more jealous of the performance benefit

Carpet shampoo usually makes everything stink until it dries. It should smell better in a day or two.

here's a quick phone pic of dans car after the install and test drive.

No rubbing issues as of yet. I love the way the car feels now, I'm quite amazed by the improvement of how the car handles. To be honest the drop is a bit of a pain around the streets of columbus, but I'll get used to it again.

BB8, looks like a pretty clean pickup I bet the wife is happy to have some wheels now.

Dan's car is only about .5 -.75 inch lower than mine. He has a little less than a finger width of gap. I have about 2 fingers. When we let it down, his rears fully tucked, so he won't have to worry about rubbing. It would probably look fantastic with your wheels and tires.

I'm usually out of the office around 5, so sometime after that. Wonder if it will fit in the escort. I'll probably just bring the land rover just in case. What time are you usually home?

All you folks getting aero upgrades are going to cost me money if the wife decides she likes them!

BB, how come if it's your wife's new car, you keep talking about driving it?!!

You guys have no clue about scraping, come for a ride in the Miata some time! It sits higher than when I bought it, it wasn't quite slammed then but it wasn't far off.

I've been working on the Miata headlights today (doing a HID retrofit). Pulling them apart was a PITA, that adhesive is good stuff! I bought a set of projectors off a guy who had an extra set, but now I'm thinking about just picking up a new set as they have made upgrades recently. I should be able to sell these other ones.

Those windows are super dark! OHP is gonna love you LOL.
The windows aren't as dark as you thin lol. They're 35% tint. It was just dark/cloudy outside when Fuz took the pick.

I'd love coilovers too, but the KW's are basically the entry level for why i want them. I'm not ready both budget and track time wise for it yet though. I may go Koni yellows, or D-specs to hold me over until then. I'd like to go a little lower, but i'm far more of a function over form guy, so personally for me, low end coilovers would be a waste of my money since they won't perform as well as koni's/d-specs and springs. That's just how I see it. Last time I said that, people got butt hurt in this thread.

If you want a balance between performance and price, your looking at KW V3's at the higher end, followed by Bilstein PSS9/10, and then Stance GR+. You may be able to find some JIC magic, HKS, or some of the other tuner companies stuff in that range as well. Those seem to be the big three though.
The KW's offer a stiff but compliant ride that is good for daily use and pretty competitive on the track. You'd have to spend quite a bit more to out perform them.
The PSS9's are a little softer and better for daily use, but seem a little soft on the track from what i've gathered. I believe the PSS10 option is stiffer spring rates that would help this out. They are revalvable and custom spring rates can be chosen.
The GR+ are at a good price, but they have a linear springs which will make them way more harsh on the street. They're not valved or matched as well as their german counterparts, and probably don't have anywhere close to the same build quality. The KW's are beautiful as far as fit, finish and quality goes.
I've never really looked into the JIC, HKS and the like because they're hard to find and over-priced because of it. The above 3 are easily obtained and generally in stock with quite a few vendors.

I think konis/d-specs with springs will out perform anything less than mentioned above.

When I buy, i'll be looking at KW's, Custom AST's, Ohlins, or Moton. It will all depend on what i really want to do and how much i want to spend. One of the things i do love about our cars is that there is no need for camber plates and the like. That's a huge cost that we don't have.

As a disclaimer, this is info i've gathered from reading and talking to guys with lots of seat time at the track and autox course. They aren't all specifically rx8 guys, but very knowledgeable.

If you aren't planning on going to the track, kw's are waste of money IMHO. I'd go for PSS9's. Height adjustable and soft enough for daily driving and aggressive enough for some spirited driving.

I'd stay away from linear springs like the GR+ as they don't soak up the small stuff in the road well.

There is nothing appealing to me about a sub $1000 coilover with the exception of the price.

the powertrix have decent specs, but they look just like one of the other cheaper co's out there. I haven't seen any of the true track guys weight in, but they seem decent enough for a little more performance and adjustable ride height.

Unless you want to go lower (more than koni's will get you) I'd save the money and get konis or d-specs if you don't plan on tracking the car. They will outperform most of the sub $1500-1700 range CO's

Again this is just my opinion

There are a lot of people who want a ride in the Miata when she's done, I'm probably looking at after Thanksgiving depending upon when my COPs come in. Don't worry BB, I haven't forgotten that we spoke about the D-Specs. I still haven't gotten one bedroom painted yet, tomorrow I have to do a friend's rear brakes so any work on the 8 is put off for a little bit. I still have to get over to storage to check the BCs and see if the previous owner preloaded the springs, or if they are just too stiff.

Anyone have any experience with the H&R or Eibach springs? H&R drops an 1" all around and the Eibach drops 1.2" in front and .8 in the rear.

I can't see putting coilovers on mine since I'm not going to track but after parking next to Fuz, my car looks like it got a lift kit.

H&R and Eibach have both been in the game for a long time and make a quality product. I don't personally know anyone with them, but i've never heard anything bad about either.

I like the staggered drop for S1's because it tends to make the wheel gap even front to rear. I'm not sure if it would do the same on the S2's since they seem to have pretty even wheel gap to start with. I think either would be a good buy. Mine is on S-techs for reference.

Sprint springs drop the car like crazy. Matt, quicksilvr on here, had them for a bit and it was too low for daily use on our shitty roads

That's a great link BB8. There's loads of good info there.

Well went around to several alignment places up here with no luck. My car sits too low to get it on the rack at most and the only places that have a low enough profile rack are booked through next week. So I guess I'll be driving to DC without being properly aligned.

Fuz, as you remember my alignment wasn't that off that it would be too big of an issue right?

As long as you don't cord those front tires you'll be alright. They're pretty thin on the inside edges. That's all i'd really be worried about.

Yea, that's what I'm worried about. Unfortunately I don't think I have much of a choice. I'm probably going to try and schedule an alignment at Performance Alignment or TD Performance for Black Friday.

^^ that is a very good option.

D-specs or yellows will likely be my next config as an in-between before high end coil overs. Well unless someone magically drops $3k in my lap.
