She's a runner! I only had to remove the spark plugs twice this time. Not saying I learning anything from the first go-around, but maybe! I told the wife I was going to print out that little placard the one guy made up showing where the temp gauge should be before shutting the engine off, and plastering it right in her sight. That went over well...

I find the floor de-flooding method has always worked best for me.
You could do what I did. I got a cat-less mid pipe and my wife won't touch the 8 due to the smell. Problem solved!

Thanks for your input. I haven't done any research on it in a few years. I thought I remembered seeing a tread by MYSQL a couple of years ago about some of the effects RP fluids had on his drivetrain, although I might be confusing some of the particulars in it. Which as I recall ended up costing him a transmission (dealer replaced) which reverted him back to using stock fluids and that is the first thing that came to mind when they told me it was leaking.
Oh and job well done chief.
Loud and smelly didn't work to keep my wife away. Once she heard it pop when shifting and decel she was hooked. I don't mind though. She's super vigilant on not stalling. In fact, she revs before shutting it off just in case no matter what. She noticed that i would do it time to time if i was shutting her down relatively cold. My wife is awesome...sometimes.

I see that Fuel is closing. Last day open is Dec. 17. Too bad that it's happening since it's a good place to go on a Saturday.
Too cold to go tomorrow and I have a crapload of stuff to do and I can't get down there on the 17th since I'll be out of town. Gonna miss that place.

GRATZ and Merry Xmas - when did they say they would have it done - I take it you left it there with them now and have a rental?
#2984
No rental but I didn't need one, the quarter just ended at UC yesterday so I am on vacation until the 3rd. Perfect timing actually for my engine to fail in all accounts.

I checked their FB and there was nothing posted. I heard John telling someone he was going to visit family in Pennsylvania for the holidays so I wonder if that's all the closing is for.
On the subject of cars and noise, my wife too likes her car to have a presence. She complained her old Protege was too quiet so I had to install the axle-back I had on hers when I put a cat-back on mine.

Sad indeed, but it's good news for John. Hopefully everything works out well for him and we can find another place for coffee on saturday mornings.

I talked to John this morning, he confirmed he's leaving. Also said he's talking to a couple of people about selling Fuel, I guess time will tell if it stays there or if we'll have to find someplace else.

One good thing about the S2 is the tach has the progressive 5K, 7K rev limiter so you pretty much know where you're at in regards to temp. Boy, the 8 sucked down a lot of fuel this morning while I was warming it up. Just watched the gas gauge move from above 3/4 tank to below in about 5 minutes. I may need to put a bucket under the tailpipes and recycle some gas.
Almost got broadsided sitting in a parking lot near a Target this morning. I just got back into my car, which I parked way away from the minivan and SUV door banging crowd, and some cow driving a beater SUV and talking on her cell phone, crossed diagonally across the parking lot at a fairly high rate of speed and headed right at my driver's side door. I braced for impact and she turned away just in time and pulled into a spot in another row. Needless to say, I had to inform her of her lack of ability to drive and I offered to place her phone in a place that would be uncomfortable unless she had it set on vibrate.
I hate Saturdays during the holiday season.

wow... I will miss fuel, and now i'm regretting that I didn't make it often enough...
so the next weekend would be the last day for the fuel, unless the place being sold to someone else, and even then it won't be the same...
I'll make my best effort making to the fuel next saturday...

So I just filled up my gas tank..14mpg...not good at all. 50/50 highway and city.
Seems like its just getting worse. Might be time for an upgrade to a better car..maybe a STI hatch..hmmm yes please!

But yes, I do agree with the STI hatch...more practical and more mileage if only a slight improvement. I'm thinking that'll be the direction I head once I graduate.

sucks to hear about fuel guys... hopefully they find a way to keep it open... would love to go this saturday but I'm off to mexico to visit family...
Fuz ...have fun with the wife!
redsun ...since your pedal will be new... i would recommend having the RR bracket on it from the start...
Bourbon... I had my engine replaced on february, (but I had it done @ jake sweeney) they will have to "transfer" everything from the old engine to the new... so whatever you want to put on the new engine you can... doubt they will say anything... I just arrived with a bunch of pieces including oil and oil filter, they had no problems with it... belts, pulleys, whatever... just talk to them... good luck!!

My clutch and counterweight arrived this morning (waiting on the flywheel and pilot bearing seal) but I might pick up a new serpentine belt as well, thanks for the tip.
Good luck on your trip Fuz!
