According to one of the local Miata guys I know, Fuel will be under new management (car guys) so it should be around a bit longer. I'll be there in the morning.

Anyone have to deflood their car recently? Tact and I managed to get the clutch pedal installed, but my engine is flooded. I tried following the DIY that said to remove the fuel pump fues and crank for 4-5 second intervals and then replace the fuse and start it. But with no success.

Any one have any insight on this?

This is the method I use:
I get another car and hook up jumper cables. Keep the gas pedal pushed to the floor and crank for 2-3 seconds, stop, and repeat. Sometimes it can take 2 mins but other times it takes 20 mins, but keep doing it. It will start to sputter once it is ready to start, you then pulse the gas pedal as you crank (as soon as it sputters push the pedal to the floor.) I have had my car flooded more times than I can count. I have never removed plugs, fuses, etc. This method has worked everytime.

Unfortunately I may have burned out the starter solenoid on it from my earlier attempts this morning to get it deflooded. Something started smoking after repeated cranks and I'm 99% sure it was my starter. After letting the battery recharge still nothing so I guess it's time to get a new starter. At least this will force me to upgrade to the upgraded starter.

Get the one from Advanced Auto Parts before you buy the upgraded:
1. Limited Lifetime Warranty
2. Less than $100 if you buy it online and pick it up.

And if your starter isn't bad, Advanced will take it back. I know from recent personal experience.

You can take your starter into AutoZone (maybe others but I know they do for sure) and they will throw it on their tester and tell you if it's good or not. Takes maybe five minutes tops.

What is everyone's opinions on the Tein S techs or the Eibach springs? What's better?

That CXracing T61 turbo is a pretty nice upgrade. I'd be willing to bet that the owner has close to the asking price in upgrades in this thing. The car needs help in the looks dept though, that is not a big deal. I would loose the rear spoiler for a lip, and drop it about 3 inches and add bigger wheels and tires. That would change the attitude of this car quite a bit.

Hope you got it all sorted out. How different does the clutch pedal feel now?

Here's a rare Miata. I made the mistake of asking about this car a couple weeks ago, and now I get emails daily from the sales dept. about my interest in it.

The car is located in Cleveland near the airport. It's pretty rare. Always wondered about the potential of a turbo Miata.

aww... so the starter doesn't turn anymore after that?? sorry that I couldn't help you on de-floding.... but if you need extra hand when you replace your starter, let me know.

hope you can get the car back on the road soon, so that you can enjoy the new clutch!

bb8: the clutch feels nice and solid

tact: I got a new starter today from advance auto parts in Colerain today it was $99.00 plus the $50.00 core charge. It was the only place in the area that had a starter for the 8. Still haven't put it on yet, I've been distracted with football all day.

The starter shouldn't be too bad to switch out, hopefully I can get it back on the road soon. I'd prefer using the 8 over the camaro in snow.

Anyone up for an engine and transmission swap in the next week or two?
Seriously though, it'd be nice to have someone experienced in this at least watching over me :P

unfortunately, I'll be out of the town till new years eve from mid next week.

if you were still working on or not started yet by the time I come back, do you mind if i visit, and see how it's done?

Kings gets the occasional MS Miata in the used department. They had one up there a couple months ago. It was in pretty decent shape and not a lot of miles.

Just thought I would share: bought the full Agency Power Exhaust and Tein S tech springs today. I deserve it and I can't wait to install them this weekend.

Anyone want to buy the dual resonated mid pipe from me? The combo is way too loud for me and I drive a lot. So if anyone wants the DR mid pipe just let me know and we can work something out.

Anyone want to help me install the springs Friday night if I can't get them installed at work?

ThatNewGuy - indeed keep us posted I would love to see it done as well.

Moete87 - Hmmmm, what else would I need with that dual resonated mid pipe for my car I wonder? I am so tired of my car not making any sound - at the OHR meet this weekend the joke for my car was "Hey kytten, you sure that thing is running?" They threatened to have me come by today and cut my exhaust to give me sound

Any of you guys ever change out the bulbs in your fog lights? I got two new bulbs and I even bought rhino ramps so I could have an easier install...or so I thought. What a !@#$%^ it looks like to get to them, I fail.

nice pickup Moete87. I would help you Friday, but I have to pick up the wife from work that night. AP sounds very nice with stock midpipe. I wouldn't mind picking up that midpipe from you, but I am afraid it would be way too loud for my apartment complex to handle.

Thatnewguy, I want to be there as well when you do the swap, maybe you can find it in yourself since you are replacing it, to just add another rotor housing while your at it!

If any of you want it, just let me know. Exhaust should be coming Friday and going on same day. I've had this exhaust before and I love it. The catback sound is perfect for me and is the sound that I am lookin for.

I will take pics of everything on Friday.

It's actually something that can be done in your driveway, as long as it's flat with relative ease. It's just always good to have 6 new nuts and 6 new bolts available as the one's in the car will break. If you want, I could even help you since I'm literally five minutes from you.

Absolutely! The engine came in today, and the trans will be here tomorrow around noon. Surgery will begin soon, and I will certainly keep you all posted

actually I just changed my fog bulb this weekend.
it's pretty easy and straight forward.

1. Jack up the car, and remove front wheels
2. remove plastic rivets and 3 metal screws under the car holding the bottom half of the wheel well.
3. look next to the oil cooler, and you will see the bulb
4. disconnect the coupler, and twist off the bulb.

it takes only took me 30 min or so for both side, including cleaning up.

the only thing is probably rhino ramps won't work unfortunately...
you gotta remove the wheels.

I won't be back till new years eve, but if it were not done by then, I'm more than happy to bring my jack and help. let me know.

Thanks - I was afraid I would have to remove the wheels, some guys told me they did it w/o, damn. Sigh, I am leaving for new Mexico Thursday and will be back after the second so if I can't figure it out when I get back I might give you a holler - thanks for the tips.

Driven with Purpose October 2012

Something to think about for next year...Coming October 2012!

What drives you?
That is the question that is asked by many. We here are Driven With Purpose.

Our Goal?
To combine our love of Automobiles and helping others and raise $10,000.

How?
A road rally to benefit Breast Cancer Survivors (Local Beneficiaries to be named as soon as they approve our request).

What is a road rally?
A cannonball or road rally is a fun, street legal driving event where participants will drive a given distance, meeting checkpoints along the way, specifically checkpoints that highlight the businesses that are sponsoring the event. The participants will be given clues to discover the route, which can cover several hundred miles, across multiple counties in the state of Ohio.

Who is this marketed towards?
The target audience is car enthusiasts of all types, to include Import, hot rod, exotic and classic automobiles. This event will not be exclusive to those listed. The only cars that will be turned away are those that are not mechanically sound or appear unsafe for Ohio roads. All vehicles must be street legal, have current insurance and ability to prove coverage, and finally, have valid registration and license plates. Age range with the owners of the vehicles, but the minimum age limit will be set at 18 years old for all participants. The target number is 100 vehicles, to include a driver and a navigator.

When will this take place?
The ideal day time will be in October, during Breast Cancer awareness month.

Two person teams, looking to have the Route start in Columbus, head towards Athens, run east to Little Hocking, North on Ohio 555 to Zanesville, cross Columbus westword up to Sidney, then back south to end in Dayton.

We are looking for Sponsors, Volunteers and Donations. If you would like to be a part of this monumental event, please contact Jeremy jeremyshaneclark@yahoo.com Jeremy is an active member of the Ohio G Club and it would be great to see some rotary love in this event. I will be driving in it for sure!
