You need a set of deep winter and semi-winter rims - the summer rims are just for photo shoots man :-) Will it ever be 70 degree weather again? Sure doesn't seem like it.

lol, I used to do that... kinda...
Deep Winter: stock rims with snow tire
Semi Winter: Cheap rims with cheap all season
plus my autox RPF1 with StarSpec...

Now my DD/Semi Winter rims are bent, I need to decide if i'm gonna get cheap all season again or just start driving on my summer tires...

I'm trying to tell my wife, A new set of rims and tires for DD will cost me at least $1000.
instead, I can buy cheap NA Miata for DD for 2000.... She doesn't like the idea for some reason...

Take her for a drive in one and she might change her mind. Mine is a little peeved that she won't be able to drive it while I'm gone with the head gasket problem.

Just saw one of the worst 8's ever. Appeared to be gray, with two big white racing stripes across the hood/roof, 20/22" chrome wheels, some sort of F&F decal down the side (on the plus side it wasn't huge), and a large aluminum bi-level pedestal wing. I threw up in my mouth just a little.

she rode with me on miata before... the problem is that she doesn't care about the convertible...
I gotta give her a ride on hard top, and accidentally pick up the soft top.. lol

Big Racing stripes +2HP,
20 inch rims +1 HP, chrome add 1 HP more, if 22, omg +3 HP.
any decals +1 HP. (if it's TypeR +2HP!)
wing + .05G on cornering since it's bi-Level +.1G.

damn.. I gotta do all the mod on my 8 before the AutoX season start, and my time will be 3 full sec faster than anyone in the class.. lol..

Adding any of the above constitutes a ban from parking anywhere near my house. The high schoolers and ex-civic guys seem like they have taken hold of the 8 lately, sad but true. I guess that's what happens when these things get so cheap... your next 350Z.

Tact, I applaud your enthusiasm but not your math. If it were only that easy...If you want next time I'm home and get the Miata running I can bring it by with the hard top on so you can try to convince your wife. I'll let my wife drive her so she can tell her how cool of a car it is. Can't promise she won't bitch up my modding though.

James, that has been a hot topic on the Miata forums of late as well. They are getting cheap and all the little snot-nosed wannabes are buying them and "modding" them. You wouldn't believe the number of "I'm going to weld my diff and go drifting" threads you see there.

So you guys saw my new 8 then, sweet, I really love those racing stripes too. Sometimes I wonder if this is the attitude that happens when you get old and crotchty folks, lol, just sayin'.

I told my wife about your offer and she was like "yeah, you keep trying and but not gonna work..." however, I have learned from our marriage, that if I ask enough times, and beg her enough, she'll get tired of hearing me asking and say whatever, just go ahead...
All I need to is to deal with some consequences and nudging afterword..

Trust me, if you had seen this abortion you would have been appalled as well. I don't mind some tasteful striping, but the convergence of so many different styles was abhorrent.

drove past the dark colored LOL at VTEC car with pink calipers and pink fogs last night... if you're reading, damn your car is loud, louder than just a cat delete. Sounded like Mid-Ohio (minus the awesome 3-rotor). I don't know how you can get around without the Local Authorities after you, but good luck.

Then saw a nice Grey GT then as I pulled into Speedway to get gas... I never saw so many 8's when I had mine. Now I see them everywhere. Where did they all come from?

They were waiting for you to sell yours. Didn't want to be associated with an old crotchety guy like you.

Saw a Black R3 up in Mason yesterday, pulled into the Speedway on Union Cemetery. I was in my van, so I had a hard time catching him. License plate was ITSLI, I think

Posting this from Mason while underneath my 8...

Looks like my A/C belt shredded, and managed to cut through the wiring harness just above the A/C pump. LOVELY. Argh

Headed back to work today. I'll be skulking around on here occasionally. Probably going to be gone for four months so it'll be most of the way through summer before my smiling face turns up again.

You want me to take care of your Miata Mike?

I went (drove by) Fuel on Saturday. I never saw so many cars there. I couldn't find a spot to park unless I wanted to hoof it 1/2 mile. Great day for cars if you got there early.

James, I checked out Ault Park. I can't see getting good shots there unless you can go up the back driveway and see if you can get a car in there. Not sure Cincy Police would like that. I checked out the Observatory up the road. Not bad, but not much room to shoot.

Sorry Steve but the wife would have you beat on that one. In any case no one is taking it anywhere with the head off the engine. Robyn again accused me of doing it on purpose so she couldn´t drive it while I am gone. I explained to her an engineer would never knowingly damage a piece of equipment (I didn´t use the gearhead argument, she´s thinks I love the car more than her as it is).

Saw some of your Subbie crowd today, Dan. I think they come out of the woodwork as it gets less snowy.
