Sweet!!
sorry if I were talking to you somewhat absent minded... I got DNF on my first run and my mind was pretty much occupied just by that... after the event, on my way back, I was banging my head on steering wheel thinking why I didn't ask you to take some pics!

Thanks for sweet pictures!

I got better in later run, but couldn't catch up with the BMW. however, i have been start feeling better with my car and how it handles. I feel my tail is bit loose, but i think i can get it under control eventually... I'll put my movies in next few days.

Yes you can weld in stainless if someone didn't already answer that, you need to use stainless steel to weld with though. If your using a machine that feeds the material you will have to find a stainless steel replacement reel. Also make sure you know what type of steel it is because it helps. You will have to change how hot it runs also, stainless doesn't take as much heat.

Tact, save yourself the time and effort by just buying BHR's mid pipe with the high flow cat. It seems pricey, but trying to build one without owning at least a mig welder will cost close to the same by the time you find a shop to do it, get flanges, good pipe, a decent high flow cat, and a resonator. An unresonated mid pipe will be loud and raspy. A cheaply resonated mid pipe will be raspy too. I hated my AP mid pipe with the stock exhaust. I have only tried welding scrap metal quite a while ago, but welding an exhaust would be a bad place to start. Even if you don't care about pretty, yu need to have clean welds that penetrate well and have no gaps or even pin holes. If they have either you'll have leaks and have to worry about cracks. TIG is really the way to go for exhaust work. Just my $.02

Are coilover helper springs necessary for a street car? I would rather not run them.

All they do is keep your springs from dropping when jacking the car up, or when the suspension is unweighted. I'd run them if your springs don't stay seated when the suspension is at full droop. If they do, it's probably not necessary.

The springs that I am using are significantly shorter (9") than the current ones and I'm afraid I will have to crank them down too low to not have them come unseated during jacking etc. I really don't like the idea of running helpers but I guess it can't hurt it. I guess it comes down to that I'm really not doing this for the lowering affect, but more for the performance aspects of it and don't want a lot of clunking noises going on.

Thanks. I may look into BHR. but my midpipe would be more for weight loss than anything else, so I may go to full custom pipe... well.. let's see...

>BB8,
so you got all 4 corners ready to be installed? congrats! let me know if you need help installing. I can be a wrench b**ch if you need. lol

I just ordered the right side threaded Bilstein, so the next thing is the Springs/hats and such. I am going to have to coordinate some kind of install/BBQ party when I get all the rest of the hardware for it. The garage is big enough to fit two comfortably.

Tact if your gonna run a cat, there's not a lot of inexpensive options... that will last.

First one is never on time. I know she is probably more than ready to deliver! Hope everything goes well. And just remember, she won't mean most of the things she calls you while she's in labor.

The helpers don't do anything under normal circumstances. I have them on the Miata coilovers and they don't affect the rates.

Some people have said ziptie the hat to the spring. If I could get away using a 2.5 inch spring instead of a 2.25 I could get up to 11 inch length. Not sure if that added height would benefit when cranked down but I am new to all of this.

Still no baby. Late like her mother always is.

We'll be inducing Monday if it doesn't happen on its own this weekend.

New rx8 owner

Hello everyone! I am new on this forum and to Rx8 ownership as of yesterday I just spent about 6 hours lurking around on the newbie rx8 threads! I've wanted an 8 for years and finally purchased a 2005 WWP 6speed that I absolutely adore. I've tried to go back and read quite a bit of this NKY/Cinci forum... but there's a lot of posts lol. Well anyways I wanted to introduce myself.. I'm Cindy from the Dayton area, and I look forward to meeting everyone!

I will post pictures asap!

Hello Cindy, WWP is a great color for adding a little mods(I am assuming it 's a GT). Welcome, you've been a member longer than most on here LOL.

lol, I joined back when I drove my first 8... wasn't in the position to buy one back then... but I knew I'd own one someday :-) Only took me 6 years, but I finally have exactly what I wanted! Honestly I don't know if it is a GT, I'm googling and researching now to determine how I tell :-) She has heated leather seats, moonroof, spoiler, foglights, homelink mirror, not sure about the stereo system, spare in trunk, HIDs. I'm thinking its a grand touring, but I'm not positive. I read this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/general-auto...-model-235210/

And it's making me think its the GT :-) Not sure about those extra packages though. I'll have to go look at her and compare :-)

Welcome Cindy!

James let us know when you're thinking.

Also just a heads up I started my second job at an auto parts yard down on Kellogg Ave. we just got in an 04 Winning Blue rx8 and it's sitting on our lot waiting to be parted out. If anyone needs anything let me know and I can get a price quote for you. It was hit in the front and the airbags deployed so the front bumper is toast as well as the hood but everything under the hood looks fine, all other body panels are in good shape as well as the interior.
