Welcome home Chief. Seats are good, but are not as firm as I like. The car basically needs a turbo just to keep up. I took it out rt. 18 up to Rabbit Hash, Big Bone Lick, and back around Petersburg to the Anderson Ferry yesterday, so I got to test it out. Rear is loose, needs a big rear sway bar IMO.
...I took the same route earlier in the day in the other car. A group of Harley's in front of me. One of them dumped around a tight 15 mph turn.
It was pretty scary. I parked the 944 and did damage control for oncoming as the dude ate it pretty good. I am just glad the guy was all right... and I didn't plow into 7 full dressed Harley's. No amount of clear bra to help that.
I should be ordering the rest of my suspension stuff this week, so an install party would be good.

I should have everything by the end of month, but you never know I have to source out a few things from different suppliers, so I might have to wait for things to arrive.
- I am thinking mid Sept is a good time to shoot for if everyone is ok with that

Welcome home Chief!!!!
Ohio Rotaries had a club meet and BBQ at Rotary Park near Dayton Sunday - I was surprised at how many 8's came - we used to be in the minority. Here is a video of the cars if you are interested - I know some of you love making fun of the mods others do so this will keep you occupied for a bit I suspect

I was just up at Kerry this morning, normally I take a peek in the service bays but not today.
Thanks everyone for the welcome back. Hope to see some of you at Fuel this Saturday.
For anyone thinking about getting a set of the BFG Rivals, I found out they are exclusively available through Tire Rack. I wanted to give my money to the local shop, sadly in this case I can only pay them for installation.

Chief,
I might be at Fuel Saturday if the Miata is ready to be picked up from the body shop. Hail dents removed, some other bodywork done, including a new front splitter. Time for a clear bra on it.

New wheels are on:
Kevin, what do you think of the Recaros now? Note I just have it sitting in place, I'll need to get some flat bar to lay across the mounts and also cut up the extra factory mounts I have coming for the seat belt receiver mount.

Currently deployed to Afghanistan, due home in October and would love to hit up a meet or two when im back. my first ? is, does any one have any good recommended shops in the area for 8's, and what upgrades are recommended?
thanks

Welcome DJ. Stay safe over there. Upgrades will depend upon what you want to do with the car, and how deep your pockets are. A lot of the stuff people normally do can be done on your own, we have some folks with a lot of knowledge and they get together for work days on occasion.
Thanks Kevin, I'm going to watch it when I'm done writing this. Doesn't matter anyway as not enough people signed up/paid for the track day. Dropped my cylinder head off at All In Racing Engines today, place looks like they do good work. Plus they have a rotary guy (Derrick) so I might be getting my 13B overhauled there. Be nice not to have to drive to Banzai in IN for it.
EDIT: Damn, looks like a nice track layout-wise but I can see how much the surface sucks.

Welcome DJ. Former Army Sergeant here. Hooah! If your ever riding around Brookville and see a kid driving a black RX8 with a bodykit, take a pic, it's probably my old car.
Somebody at my work that just got hired I think has a VR S2,I'll have to check it out.
If anyone's interested in the racing. Some guy at my work has a 2005BMW 330Ci ZHP passed this on to me for track day stuff, so I'll pass it on to you guys.

Car looks good with the Recaro's chief.
Saw a C7 Corvette last night on the freeway going North on 75,obviously coming up from Bowling Green... it looked even better in person.
Speaking of GT-R's I snapped this last night riding home from work.

Thanks James.
I expect to have the Miata back together by mid-next week. Won't be at Fuel this weekend (obviously) and there is a drive the next weekend for Miata and rotaries, so those of you who still own one (you know who you are) should go. After that I won't be around until the first week of Sept. You will hear me when I show up.

The joint Ohio Miata Owners and Ohio Rotaries cruise that Chief spoke of above is going to be a fun technical drive through some of Ohio's best roads. Here is the info as posted on the OHR forums for those interested in going. It is the goal of OHR and OMO that everyone have fun and BE SAFE so most likely there will be two "groups" doing this run that day - one a few minutes in front of the other for those who want to drive a bit harder and have cars that are better equipped for such a technical road.
This is the first OHR/OMO event. We will be cruising the length of 555 with a fellow Mazda group, Ohio Miata Owners. The route is subject to change, but the meeting places and times will not. This is a VERY technical road, with gravel hidden on the apex of some of the corners. We will be keeping a brisk pace, and we DO NOT want anyone driving beyond their abilities. We will stop every ten to fifteen minutes or so to let people catch up. So if you cant see us don't worry, you will catch back up. That said, we are going to have a BLAST!!!
We will meet at our first meeting spot BY 10:30 a.m., we will leave very shortly after 10:30 so plan on getting there early!!!
BP 10:30 - 6310 Tussing Rd
Reynoldsburg, OH
After we leave we will make one more stop before the start of the nickel. This is the best spot to get fuel and drinks. The nickel is an hour and a half long, with no fuel stops along the way. If you cant go more than 100 miles without stopping for fuel you may want to consider bringing a full gas can with you.
Marathon 11:30 - South Sixty Market Inc
2040 S River Rd, Zanesville, OH
The Marathon station is within sight of the start of 555. A little after 11:30 we will start our way down the nickel. If you are running late you will need to call someone as it will be very difficult to catch us if we have a big head start. We will head south following all the 555 signs. Near the end of the nickel we will turn north and make our way to Nelsonville to get lunch at Sonic. Then we will head our separate ways on 33. Hope to see you there and if you have a Go-Pro you might want to bring it :-D
