She's a sweetheart and it really won't be a problem. She has already asked how we will pack enough stuff for a week away, I know she would not be loving life if we had to drive for 10 hours with just the soft top. Put it this way, she asked me how much the wheels cost. I asked why, she said Happy Valentine's Day. I asked what she bought herself and she won't tell me. Little does she know my actual Valentine's Day gift is the hardtop.
I am due home end of March. However, we just got word that they are putting us back in service (hooray!). That might impact when I can get off depending upon how/where they schedule our first cargo.

Hey guys. I was wondering if you guys would like a rotary day at the dealership? We do one for the miata club every year with great success. Usually a Saturday morning.

I would be down for Rotary Day at the Dealership so count me in guys! Spring is almost here and I made it all winter w/o changing out tires, whooo hoo...and no wrecks either.

I was actually thinking of a shop day/meet. You guys could bring ur cars in. Put them on the lift. Do minor work and talk smack with the techs. There would be no charge and maybe a discount if I can talk the boss into it. We already have one scheduled with the cincy miata club.

Last time I asked my dealer they said replacing the fogs would be $34 if I supplied the bulbs. Yikes. I'd be happy to fork over a little bit because I know time and equipment is valuable, but that seems a bit steep to me still.
Plus it would be good to meet some fellow 8 drivers around town.

I don't think it was mentioned. I don't have any work that I need to do, and anything i have in the pipeline is a little more involved than a quick up the rack jobby.
On second thought, if i go with the RB gauge cluster by then, the lift would be helpful. Either way, I'm down.

Cool, new places to run! Not sure if I'll make the first one since I'm not quite sure when I'm coming home. Definitely going to try and run at least once in April. New wheels and tires should help me improve somewhat.

New to the RX8 World and stopped by Fuel this morning with my wife. Really like the idea that people drive in with all makes of cars and just chat about anything. I want to learn more about RX8's from other owners and see what they have done to their cars. I can see my obsession with my car may get out of hand like it did with my 78 280Z. I hope that RX8OhioTech can arrange something with a dealership so I can put my car on a lift and see the whole underside and get ideas for a modification or two. Hopefully, I can make it to Feul next week.
Thanks Kevin for the informative chat - really enjoyed the time!

this must be a dumb question...
i'm going to register for the autox event on 3/27, and thinking of becoming a member.
and.. well. is the member means SCCA member ship right? or are there separate membership for the local club?
it seems like if i go for 5 events or more, it's cheaper... are there any other benefit being a member?

I'm beginning to have some issues with starting my car after short shut-off periods. For example my car was at normal operating temperatures and I stopped at a gas station to get gas and it struggles to start. It does this anytime I turn the car off and try to start it in less than around 10 minutes. The car turns over and I have managed to get it started everytime after around 6 cranks or so. But it is starting to worry me. I have recenetly changed plugs, battery, and coils. And it starts just fine other than these instances. I'm wondering if it's my starter going bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have then updated starter? If not, start there. If you do, it might be time for a compression test. Do you still have your stock midpipe? I'd put it on before going to the dealer. If you don't, I'll can trade you for a bit to take it in even though it will make my car almost un-bearable.

I'll have to check the previous owner's paperwork to see if the starter was ever replaced. As far as the compression test goes, how much do they charge for that? Everytime I've ever had to deal with the dealer it has costed me or quoted me an arm and a leg for everything.
