Well, the soon part is up for grabs now. I was due to be relieved around the 23rd which looked solid, but last week they decided to activate us. We got everything going by this morning (with lots of long hours), this afternoon we were told to shut back down. Now, this might actually work in my favor as I was facing getting stuck on here well past my due date. Depending upon how long they leave us shut down this time, I just might be able to leave from here. Time will tell. I just know I have some Miata parts waiting on my return. I would like to do the autocross on the 27th, but can't really pre-register in case I don't make it. Now I just have to figure out where Cincy Mills is...

Police Out In Force Today
I went to "Fuel" today and stayed untill 11:30am. Met a some people, Talked to some people, Learned a thing or two, and then took off to get my Saturday chores done. I Rolled Down my Wndows, Opened Up the Top and Turned Up the Voume on the Radio.... heading for home.
I got pulled over by a Hamilton County Sherrif for doing "74 in a 55 Zone" Northbound 71 after the Norwood Lateral. I got "POP"ed by Laser and the Warning was about 20 Seconds on my QI45. I Turned Off my QI45, Turned Down the Volume and then He Pursued Me for About a Mile. The Lights Flashed, I Pulled Over waiting to see what he would say. He asked for Driver's Liscense, Registeration, and Proof of Insurance - so I Unbuckled my Seat Belt and Handed over my Liscense. While Fumbling in the Glove Box, he asked me if I was "Going Home"? - I said "Yes". After finding the Registeration and looking for the Insurance Card, He Handed Back My Liscense and told me to "Be Careful!". I said "Thank You Sir" and slowly started to drive away.
I think, if I had my Radar Detector Visible (Dash, Mirror, or Visor Mounted), I would have given me a Ticket. I beleive having it all hidden and Able to Turn It Off Saved Me. I can't wait to buy the Laser Shifters that are easily added on to the QI45. My system is still "a work in progress", but soon I will be Better Armed Against the Speeding Ticket System. I was following traffic, but you know that Our Cars Attract the Police and We Usually will Get the Ticket. It happened in my 280Z (years ago), and now it's happening in my RX8. Later in the afternoon, there were a lot of County & State Police on 71 North & South - I was doing 55 and hiding - while my wife laughed at me. She thinks the Officer Let Me Go Earlier because I was an Old Man driving his Mid-Life Crisis Sports Car on a Saturday.......

The only ticket I have ever gotten was on I-71 south. My wife and I were coming home from lunch and errands at whatever that place is called up there. The guy didn't even ask me the usual questions, just wrote me up. I was in the Speed6 in the left hand lane, pacing a guy next to me. I considered going to court as he wrote it as a Mazda 6 but decided it wasn't worth the effort. The enforcement in that area sucks (as I was told after the fact).
My wife asked if I was going to blame her, as I had started driving a little faster than I had previously because she complained I drove too slow. I told her probably. She has gotten several tickets in the past few years (heavy right foot), including one in the Protege. I told her she couldn't say it was too slow after that one.

Anyone know where I can get a CEL read without having to pay $88 for it? I am 99% sure it's an evap system warning and I would rather save some cash being told my gas cap sucks. Thanks in advance!

Plans have changed yet again, I won't be going home this week so no autocross for me on Sunday. Should be back next week, unless the idiots who are directing us change things again. At least we are finally out of port and ready to move along.

Just throwing this out there, kings mazda did a full circle inspection test for 75$, the mazda tech guy is great and knows his stuff. They ended not charging me anything for the inspection bec i had no problems. He even rode in my car with me to see why my car was being sluggish (k&n hot air Intake). We even talked about the dealership day and trying to get the rx7 guys in. Really like kings mazda if you talk to the right people that know how to do their job and enjoy it.

Redsun. Our shop will do a compression test for $95.00 + tax. If your vehicle still falls under the warranty extension program that $95.00 will be covered by Mazda. Our phone # is 513-683-4088.

im not quite sure what you are getting at but when you join the scca you also join a local region as well(cincy would be best for most of the people on this thread but there are several other local ones as well). you do get to race for less cash and you also get discounts at a few hotels rental car places and you get a sub. of Sprots Car magazine aside form a few other things. i know i shouldnt say this but if you only plan on going to 1 or 2 events its not really worth it unless you are under 24(i think). glad to see you are interested though. if you or anyone else has any questions feel free to p.m. me for all the info you need. also of note i looked at our site at cincy mills.....looks like lots of fun.
since I'm planning about 3 or may be 4, it still kind a hard to decide....
probably go without membership this year, and see how i like it...
anyways, anyone attending this weekend?

I got up yesterday, and "Damn.. it was canceled for nothing".... up in oxford, weather was beautiful, no snow on the ground, it was cold, but sunny whole day...
won't be able to make it on 4/3, so i gotta wait till May for my first AutoX on 8.
Since MVSCC race is a bit cheaper, I may go to their event for May 8th though...

Off the ship, sitting in a hotel in Gibraltar waiting to fly home tomorrow. Fuel on Saturday, and I'll do the autocross on Sunday unless the wife has plans (or I try to sign up too late).

yea most of the snow melted by the early morning but our region has lost venues in the past due to "mishaps"(over zealous corvette drivers) in the snow so we are a little gun shy if it gets that cold. also glad to see you are back mike hope to see the miata at wilmington. if i remember correctly youve only been to riverdowns with us? if that is right you are going to love this venue(i for one am not a huge fan of river downs) and hey bring your wife and have her co-drive!

Home now. Stupid US Airways managed to lose my one checked bag between Philly and here.
Yes Nathan, I can relate to overzealous Corvette drivers (that guy at my first event spinning twice in front of me and ruining my run). I have only been to River Downs, I am looking forward to driving elsewhere. That's if I can persuade my wife to allow me to attend. I don't think I'll be able to get her into the car at this point, but I am going to try getting her to drive the Miata in the autocross they are going to have set up at The Mitty. Might get her converted then.
