Yeah, understeer is what most cars are set up for from the factory because it's safer. If you can drive though, it majorly sucks.
Fuel tomorrow? I just finished 2 1/2 days of working on the Miata so I am ready!

with my recent working situation i have been unable to check the forums out in a while. To let everyone know there are meets in the nky/cincy area every thursday and saturday nights. The locations change due to weather and the cincinnati police, sadly some people that go are kind of lame.. but recently it has been becoming more of a casual place to learn up on what everyone is doing with their cars. Evos, hondas, nissans, a few rx7's and me in the lone sunlight silver rx8. If anyone is interested in stopping by give me a call or a text 859-462-0754 usually towards the end of the night a cruise is in store.

I know you aren't talking about the one that kept spinning! His SO seemed to be doing better than he was.
I can't really talk though, I missed the final gate my first two runs. Then turned out my tire pressure was too low. It was fun though, just have to see what goodies I can put on my car before the next one.

Just wanted to let all you Miata guts on here know Kings Mazda is having a Miata day this Saturday from 8-12. And we are still trying to organize a Rotarty day in June or July.

Weather isn't looking so hot this weekend, but is anyone up for Fuel?
Also debating on putting the Weapons on, despite the rears being pretty much done for.
Along those lines the best deal I've found so far on tires for the rears are Hankook Ventus V12 255/40-18s from TireRack for $343.39 after shipping, the tires themselves are $158 a piece. Anyone think I can find a better deal?

Check Discount Tire Direct. They have a Discount Tire store in and near Dayton too. Prices are a little higher in store, but include mounting and balancing i believe.

ill agree with the 245's instead of the 255's. a stock rx8 doesn't really need anything that much bigger than a 245 unless it sees lots of track time and when you look at a 245/40/18 you start to see some better options. id say go with the r-s3's as they are very close in price and will deliver much better performance. if you got a few more bucks to throw around star specs are great as are re-11's. and ive heard good things about ad08's. id avoid ecsta xs's like they were going to give you cancer however....

I, on the other hand, am not smart enough to worry about wear on my daily. The stickier the better. Sadly star specs are over $200 a piece in 245's thanks to a price hike I think I may give the Nitto NT05's a try this year once it gets closer to me going to an HPDE. Not that I'm cheaping out, but it's hard to justify spending $50 a tire more for a tire than what it was last year just just because it's "the best." Any one of the tires your mentioned would work for me honestly, an I've hear great things about the NT05, especially from a track perspective. If I was autox'ing a full season, I'd probably give the RE11's, or Toyo R1R's a go.

Useage wise, I plan on going to a few autox's this spring/summer. Mostly DD useage though. I've heard really good things about the Hankooks and they seem like good bang for the buck.
If I had the money I'd replace the fronts too, but currently I might not be able to even pull enough "extra" funds for the rears so the fronts are going to have to wait. As fuz said, college student budget.

Sounds the the v12's will be a good bet. tires in that 240 to 280 tread wear range will still be decently sticky, but you should be able to get quite a few miles out of them. Once you get below a 200 tread wear, you're looking at maybe 10,000 miles out of a set.
If the fronts are 245's the rears might be 265's. Either should fit if they're +38.
If you aren't down into the wear bars, and you dont' have cords showing on the edges, they're still streetable. Just be carefull.

But then someone might get a leg up on me! Not that I'm good enough for that or anything. I'm thinking about some Flyin' Miata frame rails, and maybe a set of their VMaxx coilovers. Then I'll just have to get something really sticky for the rubber side. After that, the only thing holding me back will be everything else. Mainly I just want to have a fun car that will make me happy, more than it does.

Hey man, what's up. Yeah, I remember you, your Keith. You were the Mazda mechanic, right? Your car sits pretty low on Megan Coils, if I remember correctly. Do you have a fender rolling tool lying around? Or know anybody with one? I want to do it before my car goes on yellow's (on Tein S-tech's now), and I am looking for anyone in the area with access. I can rent one for $50, but it's not very convenient. The wheels I bought are pretty aggressive, (as in +25 18X9.5) I will be ok until I don't drive this thing in the winter anymore (hate doing free snowplow work for the city of Cincinnati) that is when I will put the shocks on it.
Thanks,
BBRX8
Thanks,

Sadly i do not have a fender rolling tool, but i will need one as the hunt for an aggressive wheel setup is on. I have always wanted enkei rp-f1's but slowly my tastes are changing for something with more pop and a decent lip. I just got a set of cooper Zeon ZPT 245/40/18's and i really want them to go on the new wheels and not my spaced factory rims.
Suggestions for a good wheel for a nasty stance? and also i should be getting a job up at Kerry mazda this summer so come on up and stop by for all your warranty needs! but i must remind you the only after market parts mazda allows on the engine for warranty work is JUST a catback exhaust... if you need stock pulleys, stock wires, stock coils, or even a stock exhaust for the extra security... let me know i have them all from my rx8.
AND also if anyone is looking for a small 8WHP gain for under 200 bucks, i recommend the agency power underdrive pulley... i put mine on a year ago and i can truely say its the best pop for the dollar.
Lets all get together soon! im feeling a devuo park meetup followed by a route 8 cruise down to hebron then a stop for lunch? kinda like the old days... i miss them!
