I'm getting used rpf-1 tomorrow, and onemif the tire needsnto batched.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...38#post3972238

Is this something I can take to any tires shop to get it done, or are there any recommendation on where to take it to around Cincinnati?

I've read it should be $10-20 but doesn't make sense to me when mounting and balancing cost $20-45 a tire. Don't they need to remove the tire, patch, then mount and balance?

Anyways, let me know if you know a good shop to take it to, for decent price.

Thanks

Tact

Discount Tire does patches for free as I've had them do it twice, but unfortunately the closest one to Cincy is in Dayton. Otherwise the only tire shop I use in Cincy is Gateway Tire, no idea how much they charge to do a patch though.

thanks for the info.
I'll check the price for the Gateway tires.

hope it won't be too much, and more than anything else, hope the rims/tires would fit well... (it's +30, all around...)

btw, your new rims looks great.
is it like gunmetal color?

It should be cheap wherever you go Tact. More than likely they'll just plug it, unless you request a patch. ~$5-10 for a plug ~$20 for a patch at most places.

The +30 should be fine since you aren't lowered. You might need a fender roll if you lower it though.

I kind of want to get it patched since I want to use it for autox, and i'm worry about the inspection.
do you guys think patch would be okay for autox? i'm not gonna push hard enough anyways....

so far, cheapest found was TD Performance by I275, and cost $20. other places would be somewhere around $30.

well.. the problem is that i'm planning on lowering it...
however, J8635621 (who is genetically awesome) said that "it should be fine with no roll."
so, I'm hoping I don't have to roll, so we'll see...

As long as the patch isn't close to the sidewall you should be fine. I have yet to see an autocross tech guy look closely enough at tires to find a patch so I don't think you have to worry about it. Looking forward to seeing the car with the RPFs on it.

Yes the wheels are Gunmetal.

A buddy of mine recommended to me Princeton Tire to get my tires put on, but I'm doing it in Columbus. They're pretty close to Tri-County mall. Their number is (513) 771-1840 if you want to give them a try.

If anyone is interested in a free 3-day pass to the Rolex Grand Am race this coming weekend at VIR I have a ticket available. I can't make it so it's yours for the asking if you can pick it up in Maineville. Private mail me and we can coordinate a time for you to pick it up.

By the way, there's a Mazda corral there too. Supposed to be a parade lap or two. Last year the 1st session was "spirited" and then someone spun out on the second session. They slowed it way down after that.

Funny thing about parade laps, that seems to happen. There was a guy in a Boxster about four cars ahead of us at Road Atlanta that did that. One of the people in the group I was with was right behind the guy and said it was hilarious.

Thanks guys. The Princeton tires do it for $15, so I think I'm gonna go with them.

I read the review of the tires, and figured they are nice tires. Nut, as I'm so clueless, I don't know how much I can utilize the benefit.

Anyways, well see how the deal go when I pick them up and fit them on my 8.

holy ****, they're back at the tranny plant. I believe that is where they used to be but got banned because of a couple headstrong vette drivers going over the hill into the fence.

What's the cost for the Cincy SCC event? Maybe my eyes are tired but I didn't see it.

it's 18x8.5 +30.
it's not my first choice prefer something like 40-45, but this wheel came good price.
well... i'll wait until i see the condition.

it comes with 245/40/18, and I think i gonna stick with that size.
if it seems to have rubbing issue, I may go 245/35/18 or something.

damn... feel like a kids waiting for the christmas or something...

Tact,
with 245's and BrilliantBlacks s-techs, you should be good to go and probably won't need a roll. I run 18x9 +37 with 245's and have never had issues. There isn't much difference between the two setups as far how far they stick out.

edit: Chief. I didn't see a price either

Wonder how close i am to 95db. I have a feeling that i'm well above it at WOT and high rpm.

If you're over then I'm definately over. I'm quite certain mines louder than yours. But I rather doubt they'd actually measure how loud your exhaust is unless it's terribly loud all the time.

your a little confused. the cincy sports car club never got kicked out of anything that was one of the scca's events and that was a different ford plant. also yea i dont see a price on there either but i would guess they are within 10 bucks of a reg scca event. also i know most of you think your cars a very loud but i would guess you are well under 95db. we have the same limit at our events and the only people that go over are very modified cars. i know a rotary with no cats is loud but its not that loud and if it is you get a warning.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew it was one of the ford plants, but couldn't remember if it was cscc or the scca that was banned. It was the sharonville tranny plant before.

Oh i'm sure i'd still pass the test if they use standard db test procedure. WOT under load and idle to 2/3 of the rev range aren't even close in terms of loudness though. I was just wondering how close to 95db I am

Hey Fuz are you free on Saturday to help me work on my car? I bought a Racing Beat intake and duct from a guy off the site and it should be here tomorrow so I'd like to put it on this weekend. The only thing I really anticipate needing help on is removing the front bumper, since from what I've heard it's a lot easier to get off with two people.
