I won the Powerball lottery and gave all my money to charity. All I had left was enough cash to buy a demo 2010 RX-8.
Not really, but it sounds good. I work for a company known for their yellow boxes of film. Now days the film portion is mostly gone, but I work in a division that deals with creating anti-counterfeiting technology, which we sell to pharmaceutical, consumer products, and luxury good companies. Mostly in the printing and packaging of products. I get to travel worldwide on occasion and New Jersey/New York a lot more.
If I had really won the Powerball or Megamillions, I'd probably be driving a Lambo and living somewhere where the humidity measures in the 10-20% range (Napa Valley), a killer wine celler, and the roads have lots of twisties (Marin and Sonoma County coastline) and no farm vehicles driving on them.

Another quote: "Brakes don't stop cars. Trees do." That lead to a discussion on friction.

Marine engineer/merchant seaman (depending upon who I am talking to, one sounds better than the other!). Currently working as Chief Engineer on a LNG tanker. My work schedule is basically half the year spent at either work or home. Although when I am due off end of September, I will have spent one year on board this ship in the past 19 months. Something's a little off there!

Parked next to a beautiful VR at the Kroger on 18, may work there because I have seen it there before. Kenton Kentucky personalized plates TH, nice car, don't know who owns. I think it's lowered because it looks like it sits almost as low as mine. Had tinted windows. I have been seeing alot of RX8's running around NKY lately. Nice lowered SS last night in the same area as well. If this is you, you need to get on this forum and get with the program! We need to increase our troop levels! LOL
For you guys headed to Mid-Ohio, there will be a Mazda Corral there. You can find info about it in the Ohio section over on Mazdas247. I went to the one about three years ago and it was great. I am probably not going to be home for it, but my wife might be going (she was promised time with Patrick Dempsey to make up for the fact he wasn't at The Mitty).

There are mazda owners from all over going bbrx8. Not to mention the rest of the Grand-Am fans.
The event is sept. 15-18 with the Grand-Am race being on saturday the 17th. I'm thinking of taking off and heading up friday, camping, and watching the racing on Saturday.

The corrals are pretty good. I won a pair of Pilotis at last year's MidOhio corral. Makes driving the Miata possible in my size 11's.
I'll probably head up on Friday as well.

I'll be at midohio for the rolex race too. We have gone every year for the past 4 years and it's always a good time, but this year will be the first time we are doing the corral. I'm looking forward to it.

My wife's going but only on Saturday. She going to have two others with her so will probably drive the Speed. You can all tell me how dirty it was after!
I know we got parade laps at The Mitty, you won't generally go too fast (depending upon how many cars are out there). Still there was a Boxster a couple of cars up from us during one parade lap and he spun. It was pretty funny. I wish I could drive on Mid-Ohio, I have ridden a bike there twice at the California Superbike School. Love that up-down left hand blind crest turn after the end of the long straight.
She's only going because she has a chance to see Patrick Dempsey (we were told he was going to be at The Mitty but he wasn't). I just hope she doesn't see an 8 with something on it she will want on hers!

Sexy exhaust that you don't see come up much. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/hks-legamax-219727/
What exhausts are you looking at? I'll keep an eye out for you.

Order coils and plugs. They are easy. If you have the extra money, get BHR's ignition. You won't have to worry about coils again. I haven't installed them myself (yet), but it looks just as easy as installing stock coils. Coils crapping out could be all that's really going on. We can test for vacuum leaks pretty easily too. It's infinitely easier than doing springs. I can bring my kiwi wifi so we can look for codes when we're done.

This stuff works good for caliper paint: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/acces...tail.jsp?ID=41
If you have some rust, you'll probably have to knock that off first. They include a can of brake cleaner. I used the black paint and it went on easy. At first I thought it was pretty runny, but it sets up quick. You'll have some left over and you'll think you can touch up later, but the next day the stuff left over in the can has already set up.

BB8:... if you can do the BHR ignition I would definitely recommend it... lot better spark and the coils will last forever. as far as installation is straight forward... a tight fit... but other than that is great...

BHR is one of the first things I did on mine.
there were nothing wrong with my factory one, but read about other problems coil can cause after its failing, I thought I just gonna go ahead and do it.
took me a little while to fit the bracket in (it was really tight), but other than that everything went well.
One tool I wish if i had is, this this ratcheting wrench.
the nuts holding down the coil bracket is kinda hard to reach, and I think this could've been a help..
anyways, to be honest, i don't see any difference in performance nor starting, but just give me peace of mind.
if there's any installation party again, I'll be in!
and well, if you want to use my garage, I don't mind that neither. just a bit of drive for some of you though.

Hello fellow RX-8 lovers. I just got my 8 a month ago and recently found this site. I am from just outside of Cincy, Down by Edgewater raceway. I am glad to have found a place with info on stuff in my area, and other people who own 8's in this area. I look forward to enjoying future events with you all.

welcome!
though I'm not going down, but quite a few of us go to the Fuel on saturday morning, for coffee and cars. It's a coffee shop at east of downtown.
also we are planning on some cook out on august 20th.
more details to be decided once the day get closer, but mark it down on your calendar!

Buffington and Apok: welcome to the forum!! should plan on august 20th!!!
BB8: I installed them about 2 years ago... like tacti said the main issue is that bracket they come in makes it a tight fit, but it's easy... don't have to worry about coils going bad again... and maybe it's cause my coils were going bad when I did it but the starting got better, didn't have misfires again, before would have problems with hot starts, now not an issue and for some reason my gas mileage went up... but like tacti said it's more peace of mind and not having to deal with it...
hope it helps!

Just so y'all know, it is still possible to flood an 8 with the GM coils. I got a homebrew setup on the wife's, and last time I was out here she flooded it. Took me half a day to get it running, and that was after it had been sitting for over a month.
Welcome to the new guys. There is a Thursday night thing at Edgewater Raceway, some of the Miata guys have been going. As mentioned Fuel is always good. Pretty soon lycanthrope will chime in about autocrossing. Just so you know I swing a lot of ways with 4 different Mazdas (only three running currently). Right now I only get to dream about it all...

Tact you still have that noise box for sale?? I am starting to get sick of the stock intake, it just gets in the way of things.
Tact, in a couple of months, I will be putting on the wheels, and exhaust, your garage is nice and big, that would be great if we could have an install party. Just don't have a big vehicle to haul all my stuff up there. Maybe I could enlist the help on someone with a big enough vehicle to carry it all.

My place is always open for working on any cars. we can work on one car in garage, and probably 2 or 3 more cars on drive way. if you can find someone to bring the parts down to the Fuel, I can take my wife's highlander to carry them to my place.
