There will be 5+ RX-8s at Turfway Park tomorrow for the autocross. I'm happy to chat with other owners if you come find me! If you're planning to just watch, you can come around 11am. Please be mindful of where people direct you to for spectator parking, as the parking arrangements are pretty cramped over there.

If you guys are looking for a nice place to do the cookout in august there is a park on U.S. 50 called Fernbank. It's really pretty down there. Overlooks the Ohio river, and you can walk down to the bank and fish or chill. They have lots of little eating areas with picnic tables too. just throwing that out there.

First off I havent been on these forums since the days of steves turbo titanium grey rx8 so HELLO AGAIN!
and in response to the quote, i currently work at marks garage in southgate. I can work some numbers on getting you guys tires and if you want someone with a bunch of rotary experience working on the parts of the car you dont, you can always come see me down there!

also I have ASE certifications in steering/suspension and electrical so stuff outside of work i am always down to help with. Price? Food and jack daniels haha im simple.

BUT as my 2004 sunlight silver RX8 sits we have, Greddy catback, rx7 store midpipe, megan racing springs, agency power underdrive pulley, and my racing beat plug wires.

Plans within the next two months - MB battles 18x9.5 +15 offset <-- FLUSH
Racing beat Flash, hopefully track/race to help with AFR since that midpipe is beastly.

But it's great to stop back and say hey and would love to see all the 8's again.

I work in the E.R. at Christ hospital. And Keith I need a 245/45 cooper zeon sport RS for my rear drivers side. Know any place I could get one cheap or do you have a price on one I could pick up? I currently have a broken band and a nail in mine.

Count me in for the 20th. I can meet up wherever, Eastside isn't too far of a drive, since I commute over there for work anyhow.

Speaking of which, while we're talking about dayjobs, I work at an IT consulting firm out in Milford. In between projects at the moment, and looking elsewhere. I do agree that a lot of geeks are also car enthusiasts. A buddy of mine that works there has a pretty nice G35. We've also got some new Camaros and a Ralliart Lancer.

So i was doing a little calculations this past Saturday with fuel mileage. So here it goes.....I filled up this past monday with 91octane at Costco and I didnt have to fill up until Saturday. I averaged 21-21.5mpg. The car is an 07 with 31k and I am on the original coils and plugs. Its not too bad but I really want to get the BHR ignition set up to improve that number.

Also, yesterday I washed, clay barred and waxed the car. Much needed. Car looks amazing now. The pearl in the white just pops. Very satisfied indeed.

I had a great time at autocross on Sunday. It was a really fun course. Nathan don't feel so bad about loosing to Ryan I lost to Tact by .002, LOL. I love this close competition! This has been the best season so far.

What were you doing? Pairing up like NASCAR?

Best I've had so far is about 18.9 highway.

Nathan do you have video of your fast run? It's always interesting to see runs by different drivers that are really similar in time. There's probably things that both of us can learn from it!

I had a great time on sunday.
my best run was my third one despite completely missed the shifting at start...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5BeyikZ1k8

>Nate, Ryan
Thanks a lot for letting me ride with you. what I found was that both of you drive much smoother between turns... (don't know how to describe, but I felt that the transition between each turn is smoother...)

i tried driving like that, but it's not as easy as being said... combining with advice not to squeak the tire much, probably that's why the third run went the best for me...

somehow, I loose the grip on tire after each run. I start feeling the rear end getting looser and looser every run, and 4th and 5th run, i was all over... sliding around...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HGG7hkhAkk

by the way, I totally forgot about the hands position advice while I was running...
I remembered it just until I lined up at the grid, and it just vanished as soon as I took off... and then remembered when i was reviewing my video...

>Ashley
.002 second... wow... It's really interesting, even when I'm looking at my own time only.. all the runs (except first one..) fall into about 1 second from other runs.. Even when I thought I did good, it really doesn't mean actually faster time... still feel like it's just like a luck, even it should not be...

Don does have a Youtube channel but I'm not sure if he's going to upload anything from Sunday. He ran out of memory space and only got up to his 3rd run maybe.

Here's mine:

Tacti,

I see a lot of "overdriving" and late turn-ins. Looking further ahead is very counter intuitive but it will help avoid both of those things and make it easier to go faster. Trying to be more aggressive with the same turn in points is why you were breaking traction on your later runs, as you were gaining more confidence.

Another guy on the Cincy autocross forum said it best - do the fast parts fast, and the slow parts slow. The last turn before the finish, and the 180' turn at the bottom of the hill were slow sections, and you can only hurt yourself in them by trying to take them too fast, there is no time to "make up" there. All you can do in those situations is make the turn as tight as you can and set yourself up correctly for the exit.

Fernbank will work. I don't know any roads on the west side, so someone else will have to lead the cruise.

I was thinking the lower part of Woodland Mound park that's down by the river.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Steamb...,0.017059&z=15

I've driven most of the roads in the area and we can organize a nice spirited drive from there.

As long as there are some fun roads to drive, I'm good with whatever.

Thanks.
yeah, I was keep fighting on those 2 corners.
not only on this course, but all other courses, I ran, I'm really bad at those tight turn..
I do that steering brake (?) by turning too much, because of over speed...

looking ahead, is something I hear from everyone, and just can't figure it out yet...
tried to look ahead, but soon my eyes are nailed on to the corn which I am turning, even knowing it's not right....

So right now we have Fernbank Park, please feel free to add to the list, and we'll make a decision, based on the list.

1. Fernbank Park
How do you think about we will be meeting at the Fuel?
everyone can come to the Fuel at any time, and then we'll leave there around noonish to the Fernbank Park.
if anyone wants to meet directly at the park, we can figure out the time based on how long it takes from the Fuel to the Park.

Where is the fuel exactly? Could someone post a Google maps link please? You said you meet up there every Saturday?

They have Cars & Coffee every Saturday from 8AM to Noon. Most of us who go get there between 9 and 10.

Tact, I'd imagine Fernbank is about the same distance from fuel as Woodland mound, so about 15 minutes or so. We can have those meeting at the park get there between 12 and 12:30, then we can cook, eat, hang out, and go for a drive.

If we do Fernbank, does anyone know the roads to lead a spirited drive? Are there fun twisty roads out there?

I am for meeting up at fuel first if that is what you want to do, for others that can't make it to Fuel, they can meet up later at the park.

Kevin, I won't get my parts this weekend, so I am going to the Air Show on Saturday. Hopefully Mr. Hill can send them as early as possible so we can get them in. I haven't been happy about the buying experience and lack of customer service on their part, but they are not really a big business, and I know I have to take that into account.

If Esmeril Racing would throw in the wires, I would go with their kit instead, it's fully plug and play now as well.
If we go with woodland mound, or anything else close to the east side, i'll happily lead a drive. I spend a lot of time on the roads out this way.

I have a hard time ordering things online, because i always want instant gratification, so I know your pain. I'm open until mid september except for july 30th and 31st, and August 6th. Just let me know when they're in.

There are a few twisty roads if we go to Fernbank and take US 50 down to bridgetown and then dog trot, to wessleman and wessleman all the way down into Harrison and down buffalo ridge. Then back over wessleman, down rybolt, across Taylor, back to dog trot, bridgetown, and back onto 50. That's just a route I'm familiar with.

Oh and Fernbank is 17mi from the fuel coffee place. It's on Google maps under the name River park. On Thornton avenue. Which is a small street that crosses 50.

The cruise i'm referring to is after the park. Once we eat and hang out a bit, we can go hit some twisties and enjoy our cars a bit before heading home. Getting to either park from fuel is a pretty straight shot. One is west, one is east.

If we do Woodland Mound, how long do you guys want to beat on the cars for. I can put together something short like a half hour to an hour, or something that will last us all day?

BB is absolutely correct. We need some imput!!!! NAO!!!!

I would say woodland since its a bit bigger and as far as the drive after I would say have the options open... but I would be down for a shorter one. Stuff to do after...
BB8, fuztupnz: I have the same problem... instant gratification, but be patient grasshopper!! hehe. BHR... they are small but I'm telling you they will stand behind their product... I know it takes a little longer but in my opinion it's worth the wait...

either park would be fine with me, and as for cruise, I'm up for something like an hour, and how about including some stops at scenery to have some photo shoot.
(well.. not that familiar with the area, so if there's any such place...)

There are actually a couple of nature preserves in the area that would probably work for some scenery. Either that or we can take over one of the small towns we could include in the trip.
