Well hopefully I'll have my car back from the shop this weekend. Took it in a week ago to fix the synchro problem I had and I have yet to get it back. Really wish mechanics didn't throw warranty work to the back of the line whenever possible.

On a related note, how long is long enough to get a mazda rep involved? :P

I'd love to, but I don't have the cash for coils lol
I have a set of R3 bisteins off of my dad's R3 (he went coils >.>) that I'm wanting to run with lowering springs to upgrade a little from our series 1 suspension.

Thanks for the invitation to the event. Unfortunately the only days I work are weekends and Tuesday's. So I can't really afford to lose out time on that.
But you are right, I do work there lol

And Pm is coming your way!

Where did you take it? I find the guys at Kings do good work. They've worked me in several times when I drove up. Ask for Scott the service adviser.

I agree! When I lived in cincy I always took my 8 there. The dealership and shop needs a huge make over / renovation / should just build a brand new place. They are great there and would always highly recommend them to any 8 owner!

They worked on my Speed6 a lot. Had to.

Kiings never fought me over TSBs like I heard other Mazda dealers did. Even the notorious clutch TSB. The service advisor drove mine, stalled it 2 or 3 times, then took out a new 2007 with the clutch fix in it and was able to drive it without stalling it out. Mazda only compensated them for 8 hours of work but the job involved dropping the engine cradle and a bunch of other stuff to get the new clutch in. I think they had a couple days of labor in, but they know I always buy from them so they got their money back in the long run.

Heck, I even get free oil changes, so they keep the record of maintenance. That has to help if there's ever a warranty issue Mazda doesn't want to cover.

I bought my car used from kings, and got the free oil change deal. I only used it once, because they want to do it every 5000 miles, and only use 5w20. I run 10w30 and change it about every 2500. They have always been friendly up there though. I've never had work done by them though.

Took it to Jake Sweeney in Tri-County, where I got the car. Both times I've had it there they've kept it for over a week when I told them exactly what was wrong with the car up front.

That is your first mistake! I have heard horror stories with them and I would suggest stay far far far far far away from them! Get your car and take it to Kings Mazda..NOW!

Me too! They did my new engine, my new clutch and installed my slotted/drilled rotors. Excellent work, fair prices and fantastic customer service and yes, Scott is the man in the office area to deal with and Jason Durbin is the dude behind the great work in the shop. I can't say enough great things about them, seriously!

Doughnuts, and not the parking lot kind.

And Cheryl, who's a service advisor now, is fun to tease, since she's a big Steelers fan. At least she has a pro team to support.

Well it's where I got the car from. Figured they couldn't be that bad. But both times I've taken my car in (once because the amp was bad, the other because my synchros were bad) they've had it for ~2 weeks. Pretty ridiculous, even when I understand that warranty work is the last thing mechanics wanna do.

I have a story about Jake's Weenie on trying to buy an R3 from them that's a hoot. The most uninterested of dealers who sell cars. Couldn't care less if they sold an R3 that was sitting on their lot with 1000 miles on it and trying to sell it as "New". Young (hot) female sales rep didn't know what an R3 was, much less an RX-8. At least the R3 had a full tank of gas and my friend and I drove it about 50 miles and over an hour before bringing it back. They never called me back, so I took them off the list. Recaro's in the R3 are a bit tight for my butt and I really wanted the sunroof and I was growing tired of Velocity Red Mica, which chips if you look at it sideways.

Sweeney still has both R3s. I guess they forgot about them. I bet you can take one off their hands for 26K

Yeah, I see the red one all the time. Actually wasn't going to go through any dealership. Was talking with the owner for a private sale, but he wanted to use the money he got from me to buy a Speed3, and knew one of the salesmen from growing up. Soooo we went this route.

BB8.

Check all of your plug wires and make sure they're still all on tight.

As far as vacuum leak, slowly spray soapy water on the vacuum hoses one at a time. If you take your time and have a keen eye, you'll see bubbles if you have a leak.

BB8,

Hope you can get things figured out.

Fuz said what I was already going to tell you to do.

Good luck!

Ever drive a Speed 3? Interesting torque steer mitigation - not.

I drove a 2011 last winter. I couldn't believe how much twist that thing had up front. Trying to accelerate out of a corner you never knew which way the wheel was going. Mark Knox, the sales rep at Kings, ask me how I liked it. I didn't. I guess I was spoiled with the AWD of the Spd 6. I do kind of miss the kick in the butt torque of the Spd 6, but I don't miss the 600 lbs more weight it had over the RX-8. No way to rotate the Spd6 through a corner either. True redline on the Spd6 was about 5800. Above that was a waste of time. Still, it was a blast to drive and MPG on highway was 25 or higher. Best I had was 28+. I'll still keep the 8. It's a blast to drive and I love the exhaust sound.
