Here are the pics from today's event!
I had a great time. I hope you all did too! Who could ever guess we'd have RX-8s show up in all different colors? It was really awesome seeing these five beauties come ripping through the twisties and roll through Hell, Michigan.
Enjoy the pics!

Jesus, this Phreak'n Impala will not move. Aargh! Sometimes, it seems Grannies always take the most scenic routes. Oh well, I don't own the road so I'll get over it.

Typical RX-8 Moment #1: The gas station!
![](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/Phreakdout/RX8%20run%20to%20Hell/June23rd2007RX8triptoHell020.jpg)
Casedogg is suckin' it up at $3.35 a gallon.

OK, what the heck is this old guy doing with a Carrera 4? At least do the speed limit! But 5 under? Trade that thing in for a dozen Mercury Grand Marquis or Buicks!

Typical RX-8 moment #2: Add oil!

We kept the meet to 3 hours so we could all enjoy the weekend. This was a great crew. We'll be back together again. Hopefully we can pull in a few more members! Just drop in.
Going home ...

BTW: Any of you wanting larger sized copies of these pics, just let me know and I will burn them to a CD or you can bring a USB drive to the next meet. (Give me notice so I can bring the computer.)

Just got home from the west side of Michigan. Sat right down and opened up all the pics from the Run to Hell. I am sooooo sad that I couldn't have come and met everyone, saw the cars, and driven with you all. Fun that there was one of every color. Wish I could have added my Whitewater Pearl to the mix. Maybe next time. I do have MORE weddings this summer, so hopefully they won't ge tin the way.

Many thanks to everyone who was able to attend on Saturday......what a fantabulous time!!! The weather was perfect and you couldn't beat the sound of all those rotaries winding out as we 'zoom-zoomed' the twisties. Not that we went fast or anything.......just the speed limit +50% for speedometer error.
Can't wait to do it again, thanks to 'the Phreak' for going to the trouble of organizing it.

I sincerely hope I did not press anyone into an uncomfortable situation. I was hoping that I could pull the front of the group to a fun but safe speed and let the lesser aggressive enjoy a slower pace in the rear. I really don't want anyone feeling pressured to break speed limits. (There's nothing wrong with being a lawful citizen. ) I could see some big smiles in my rear view mirror though!
As the lead, I had the responsibility to know the road and watch for potential hazards, slow the group in areas where there could be a problem and of course watch for pedestrians, bicycles, cars, animals, etc... A few times I had to slow the group for hills that I was concerned would unload the suspension and cause a potential accident.
Let me know your honest thoughts on the run. What was good, bad , etc.. I will use this to tailor the next run a little better.
A couple I will add,
1) Don't turn on Patterson Road (a dirt road) instead of Patterson Lake Road. I can't believe I stalled twice trying to jockey the 8 back onto the main road. What a rookie. LMAO.
2) No gravel parking lots for the meeting location. (Bandamier Park)
3) Avoid Huron River Parkway due to slow traffic and bicyclists. Everyone has to be Lance Armstrong!
4) I thought the route was OK, except for the above noted points.

You won't be hearing any complaints from me! I thought that the run was great and you did a fantastic job of escorting it; the speeds do not worry me a bit (remember you are talking to an ex-road racer here who still has a 100 mph shifter kart in his garage) and, as you pointed out, if anyone was uncomfortable they could drop back a bit knowing that we would wait for them a mile or so down the road.
I agree that we do NOT need any gravel roads. I laughed until I almost peed myself when we made the worng turn onto Patterson.......you never saw so many cars jam into reverse so fast in your life, it was like watching a scrambling herd of cats.
I am not put out by running Huron River Dr.............yes, it is slow but it is a nice peaceful lead-in and post-run cool-down.
Overall a great job Brian!! Thanks for all of your hard work to put it together and lead the pack!

I enjoyed the run as well! It was very nice to see these wonderful machines zooming through with great control.
I was worried about cops from time to time, expecially as the speeds climbed towards the 90 mph range.... (remember the police truck with the boat)....Twice
..... I was somewhat dissoriented and wasn't sure if we did a lap and zoomed by the police truck twice or there where actully two police trucks with boats
Next time we should plan for a longer run maybe.... and also we would probably get more owners participating in the run.... Maybe setup BBQ @ some location around noon time.... so we could have a morning run, then have lunch @ a park or something, then have a second after-lunch run..!!/.......

I was concerned that I made the run too long. I'm glad I was wrong. There's a great picnic spot on Territorial Road just west of where we were. We could have someone drive another vehicle and set up base camp. The other option is setup base at Hell. There are picnic areas behind where we parked.
Anyone else feel free to take the lead on the next event.
BTW: My neighbor was bummed that I didn't reach him before going to the meet. He was planning to come with his Ferrari 348 Spyder. Mike's a hell of a great guy and he tought me this run. I'm sure he'd come to the next one if we can give some advanced notice.

I sure missed out. Is there a possibility of doing it again this summer? Maybe we can get more RX8's the second time? Or, I may have to do the run to Hell myself sometime? More fun, tho, with the full array of colors of RX8s! I'm gone a lot in mid and late July.

I was thinking about a Cedar Point Run. Get Pittsburgh, Columbus, Cincy, Michigan and NE Indiana RX owners together. Any thoughts on this?

...........sign me up, I'm for it. As long as it isn't a week or weekend I am travelling on business I'll slap on a coat a wax, drop in a tank of premium and away we go. Can't wait to get out again, the car has been lurking under its cover since Saturday evening.
