Any St. Louis folks on here ordering?

Just curious if there are any St. Louis area people on here that might have placed an order yet?

There has been one order placed ay Bommarito Mazda in St. Peters that I know of before I got in there.

I just "ordered" one through Bommarito on the mazda.com site. I'm just kind of testing the waters right now...I don't even have my FD back yet

Even though I'm doing a crap-load of work on the FD, I'm still concerned about long-term reliability, esp. now that it's past the 10 year mark. I'll eat my *** on money with the FD upgrades, but it'd be nice to have a brand-new rotary powered car with a warranty! Plus, the RX8 is really looking sweet the more I see it!

I got mine ordered on Monday. Got the Titanium, 6-speed, black/chapparal leather, Grand Touring Package, and no navigation.

I ordered mine from Bommarito in St. Peters. They already had 5 (including mine) deposits/orders already on Monday, and last Saturday at noon they only had one order. They must have all came flooding in at once. They are getting 7 cars in their first allocation, so I would assume by now that the last 2 slots were filled.

What's going on with the FD? It's been quite a while since that thing has been on the road! You get a new engine?

The FD has been a major event in my life! So yeah, I blew the motor back on May 25th, and nothing has gone smoothly since - both my fault, my mechanics, etc. I have all the parts and the engine (streetport w/3mm hurley seals), now I'm just waiting for my mechanic to get a spot open for me - should be next week!

I can't wait to get it back, but at the same time there's still that lingering fear in the back of my head that something else will go wrong with it. The engine should be bulletproof with everything I'm doing to it, but there will still be all the little maintenance issues popping up as would be expected on a 10 year old car. That's why I'm really thinking hard about an 8 I've never bought a brand new car before...the 8 seems like the perfect opportunity to do so!

Maybe this will all change once I get the FD back and drive it again, but I don't know. I just keep going back to the fact that it would be sooooo nice to know that IF anything goes wrong with my car, it would be covered by a warranty rather than me having to scramble for the money to fix it. And, being a new car, there "shouldn't" be anything to go wrong, other than the usual new release fixes (although after the FD I think Mazda will have mroe than made sure the RX8 is VERY well tested and reliability will not be issue - ah, no turbos indeed!).

So that's that. I'll keep you posted

Yes!! I heard a couple of days ago and I am diggin' it. I am taking a day off work to go down there and just drool all day over it and take about a million pictures.

I'm wondering if they will have it blocked off on some "stage", or if it will be where people can get in it???

I've seen pics posted on here from a couple of other car shows that it has been too and it was just down on the floor. It damn well better be here in St. Louis, or I'm jumping up there and hopping into that sucker!! :D

The auto show is here Jan. 29 thru Feb. 2nd. I was hoping for a yellow version but any RX 8 will do just to get to sit in one. I haven't ordered as I am still too steamed about the yellow/black interior not being available after tormenting us with it for the last year. Sure the red cars get their two tone interior....I guess we are just lucky to get yellow offered. (In Miatas....Mazda has always treated red as first class and yellow as steerage.)

I ordered mine from Bommarito in St. Peters. They already had 5 (including mine) deposits/orders already on Monday, and last Saturday at noon they only had one order.
I called Bommarito the next day and the sales goon said they already had 25 deposits/orders for the RX-8. Knowing this was complete bull@!&t, I very quickly said "thanks, but no thanks" and hung up.

I then drove to Lou Fusz (who I had also received a response from my original inquiry through Mazdausa.com). The sales person was very friendly, courteous and helpful. Needless to say, I gave them a deposit and ordered the RX-8.

I received my confirmation number within several days.

The dude ay Bommarito lost at least one sale strictly on attitude alone!

How much of a deposit is required? And is it refundable if I get my 7 back and change my mind?

I put down $500, fully refundable, at Lou Fusz.

It's a no-lose situation for me. The money was just sitting in a no-interest checking account and it will go towards the down payment anyway.

$500 NON-refundable at Bommarito.

jonalan.....which Bommarito did you go to....John in St. Peter's, or Frank down on Manchester Rd?

You did not make it into the first allocation I'm assuming, so are they selling it to you for MSRP? If so, you are lucky.

Actually, I spoke on the phone with a guy named Tim at Bommarito (not sure which one); I think it was St Peters. If, after his first lie, he would have told me to put down $500 "NON-refundable", I would have laughed in his face!

I'm not exactly sure which allocation I am in. I ordered on 2/6 (after the first deadline), but I believe they put in a change to an inventory spec already submitted. They said they have 5 allocated to them, with only 3 ordered at the time. However, since I have not received the follow-up e-mail from Mazda that many people from the first allocation are getting, I am assuming that I am in the second allocation. Which is fine with me; more time to save up for a down payment and also let the plants work out some of the bugs in the first production group.

My cost is MSRP (guaranteed), plus $520 destination charge; which kept it just under $30,000 (where I wanted to be).

Everything is in writing.

I'll have to ask the guy I'm dealing with if there is a Tim there. If so, I'll ask him to smack the guy around a bit for you.:D

i'm new to mazda, rotary engines (why doesn't EVRYBODY do this?) and this forum so...wassup?!

i had the RX-8 on the short list for my next ride which included the TT, 350z and crossfire. i quickly settled on the 8 after seeing it at the st. louis auto show and placed my order on feb. 3...which leads to my points:

i ordered at john bommarito in st. peter's. dealing with a guy named bill. he asked the sales manager and told me that bommarito would give me my $500 back if i decide not to buy. he ALSO said that they wouldn't put it in writing. i let it slide cuz i don't plan not to buy the car...but who in their right mind would buy a car without driving it first? hopefully, if i don't like the 8 after i drive it (doubtful ) bill and bommarito will live up to their word.

Welcome ELX13! You'll find most of the information you are looking for in the "RX-8 Discussion" threads.

Lou Fusz had no problem putting "$500 fully refundable upon test drive" on my contract. Good luck if you choose not to buy. I, too, have every intention on buying the car, but who knows until we sit in it and drive it.

The deadline for the 1st allocation was mid-January. 2nd allocation was around Feb 6; so you may be in the 2nd allocation. There is a chance you could be in the 1st group if Bommarito had already placed an order for an inventory car in that group and put in a change with your specs. I recommend calling your sales guy to find out. They WILL know. You should also have received a confirmation e-mail from the dealer with your confirmation number on it. Ask for that as well.

thanks for the 411 jonalan!

guess i shoulda gone to lou fusz, huh?! oh well.

like u (and i) said, there's no intentions not to buy the car anyway but it'd be nice to have that "insurance" on paper.

i'll be callin' bommarito when i get back in town to check which allocation i'm in. (i'm in chicago right now enjoying a much needed 4-day weekend!:D)

We definately need to organize a Group Pic and Winery Tour Drive a week or two after everybody takes delivery. In addition to everyone here, there are 3 people at my work who pre-ordered. I talked them all into it of course :D

FYI...i received my confirmation e-mail from mazda today so i'm guessing i'm in the second allocation.

my guy (bill) at bommarito moved to florida without telling me! i got a call from one of the sales managers (his name escapes me right now) last week about that. he was very accomodating and apparantly all is good with my order considering the fact that i got my e-mail today.

now...hopefully my 8 will get here in july...in time for the group pic and tour! :D

I just got my e-mail from Mazda yesterday and I am supposed to be in the first allocation. ELX13, maybe that means you made it into the first allocation.

I am going to be getting very antsy if I am not in that car by July! It better be sooner.

They told me I would have the car in April (back on January 13th when I ordered) and I knew there was no way that would happen. I'm guessing the dealership will be lucky to have one for their showroom floor to display by the beginning of May.

As soon as they get one for display, they'll probably need to call the sherriff to have me hauled out of the showroom at closing time. I won't want to get out of it or quit looking at it.:D

91vert, since you ordered on Jan 13, you missed the cut-off for the 1st allocation by 6 days -- cut-off date was Jan 7 (I believe). Actually, I'm happy that I'm in group 2. This gives Mazda a complete production run to work through some bugs, if necessary.

As far as the sheriff goes, they'll need him (or her) there to keep all of us from fighting over who gets to test drive next...:D

Who else ordered from Lou Fusz?
