Haven't checked-in for a long time but I saw a real nice red 8 tonight at the 20Grand movie theatre -- parked right next to me Wondering if it was anyone on the board .... nice rims and exhaust

Can't believe it was 4 years ago (August 1st) that I had my 8 delivered (4 years and 28k miles but she has been a great "toy" to play with) I had the pleasure of pre-ordering online and then sealing the deal in person at the Jan '03 Detroit auto show when the 8 was officially rolled out -- see avatar for a shot before she was taken off the truck.

Had all the warranty updates done before it expired at Woodhouse -- car actually drives noticably better -- even with my IntX and turbo it made a nice difference. A/C works much better too for some reason...

Haven't done much to her in awhile -- just fine tuning the IntX. I need to put on new brake kit really bad -- that is my next project. I have been thinking about upgrading my turbo to Scott's (MazSport) new set-up but haven't pulled the trigger yet. The GReddy is running very well with the IntX tuning -- just miss going all the way to 9k as I don't push the GReddy past ~7k. I should sell the GReddy to someone who wants an inexpensive turbo set-up and make the switch this winter...

I will try and check back to see if there is a meet & greet set-up sometime -- sorry for being a stranger lately

Hey, cool! I haven't seen too many in C.R. yet. Parked by one yesterday at Lindale Mall and I see a nice silver occasionally but I've only had mine a few days...I'm sure I'll really start to notice them now. I need to hit up the dealer and make sure everything's up to date under warranty. Is there a thread on here for new owners that shows all the little things to look for and fix and the best starter/simple mods? Thanks for any help guys, I'll get pics up soon

Welcome 3DZukini,

There isn't really a single thread for that sort of info. However you can find some good starter information in the following places

https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-faq-9/ = basic FAQ area (should read)
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-section-category-alphabetically-101998/ = DIY listing
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/ = common issues/fixes area

Happy reading and Happy modding!

Thanks for the info Fencig! Kinda scary, makes it seem like the RX-8's have all kinds of problems. I hope I got a good one
RXhusker: Let me know if you ever come through Cedar Rapids, that's one sweet little TiGray!!

I guess calling it "common issues" would give the impression that everyone has them. Sorry about the mis-wording. That's really just a common area to discuss issues people are seeing. It often gives the impression the 8 is falling apart but then again, those of us that are not having issues are not posting "still no problems" threads

Fencig - do the Foglight mod DIY first -- very simple and easy and so much better being able to have your foglights on all the time without the headlights. I replaced the foglight bulbs too -- looks very nice

When you are ready to have a little more fun with modding -- put on a new exhaust

^^^ Yeah it's a lot of fun and I got my RB about 2 weeks ago and I love it but it wasn't loud enough for me so I have my RB midpipe coming in tom. which im excited about. The only problem is **** is expensive for us. My exhaust has cost me $950 so far but then again my car is one of my big priorities. Def a wonderful car to have a lot of fun with and catch people off guard and turning heads. Congrats on the new purchase and I can almost personally say you will love the new car, until you fill the tank...lol

LOL, yeah...I've noticed so far that it seems to be using more gas than they claim: 18/24. I have a Ford Escape V6 that claims the same mileage-it always goes on the low side around 20 or less. But, WHO CARES! it's too much fun to drive fast

Thought I would post a few "old-timer" Husker RX-8 club pics for the new guys

Early RX-8 Club lunch meet in winter 2004 (Kain, Hskr8, mooneycj, RXHusker)

Kain, Hskr8, mooneycj are all gone now

Track day at MAM back in summer 2004

My RX-8 winning it's class at World of Wheels winter 2005

p.s. == don't ask me about those FOOSE wheels -- they were put on local wheel dealer that asked me to enter my car in WOW with those wheels

Man, I love the MazdaSpeed body parts.....wish they weren't so damn pricey. Any of you guys put in an ipod integration thing? Wondering whether to order the factory or if one of the aftermarket ones is better. $135 from dealer. It's only listed for '07 but they say it should work on the '04. I can't find anything that says if the song titles are displayed on the info panel. I spent $50 on car washing stuff last night, lol. Shhh, don't tell my wife

I have found the two best music system upgrades for the 8 -- they are a Borla exhaust and a blow-off valve I hardly ever turn that stereo thingy on -- ruins the sound of the car

Yeah I can understand that last statement. Its 4 am now and I just got done messing around town with the midpipe.....it took a lot longer then I thought it would to put on. At first I really didn't like the sound that it gave me but it quickly grew on me. Esp when I had my buddy drive it around the block and saw that backfire potential. Could be the ricer in me but damn i love spewing flames at shift points!

Did you guys ever start up your 8 with the mid-pipe off??? WOW -- it will literally blow out the windows in your house -- just at idle you might hurt an eardrum. I've read stories of RX-7's without exhause blowing out other car's windows.

When I first put on my borla, midpipe and hi-flwo cat it really was just on the edge of being too loud for me -- so I tried using dynamat -- installed under the entire trunk section and it worked pretty well.

Now that the turbo is installed (no cat) the exhaust sound is close to perfect for me -- great sound without being overbearing or ricer-ish. Those flames are FUN the first few times aren't they

NOTE for 2004-2005 Mazda RX-8: The factory headunit's firmware revision must be 9.55 or greater. The unit will not work on earlier firmware revisions or with 9.81 or 10.01. To find out which revision your Mazda RX-8 has, make sure the radio (FM) is turned on, then press and hold "TEXT." Then, also press and hold "1" at the same time for a few more seconds. The LCD should then report your firmware version.

Thanks for the tip Staticlag! I'll check that later. Do you know if it displays the song titles from the ipod on the info panel? Not really important but I thought I'd find the best option to put on my car, factory or not.

RXhusker: I hope I get to see your car someday, sounds awesome!

I'm not sure if it displays songs, I know you can control the IPOD from your steering wheel controls though.

Hi Remix, I passed a red 8 yesterday afternoon on Wilson Ave., were you over on that side of town? I work on the NE side and I see the same blue one on my lunch sometimes. Welcome to the club...not sure if I qualify to give out the welcome....I haven't been here too long

Im mostly just passing through c.r since i work and live in marion. It may have been me. I think i may have the only tinted red eight in c.r.
I did see a tricked out white eight, with some hot chick driving it.
