Al,

Mac is right. I'd say look for a part out car in the for sale threads. Like mac said, I got a perfectly functioning right side oil cooler plus the associated lines for 80 bucks. Also, try Paul at Mazmart. Tell him I sent you and he will hook you up.

I'm sure we can get some locals together to help you change them out. Of course I'm the least useful of the locals, but I'm happy to offer my limited services and the services of others

Try to look at it this way - hopefully these lines have been leaking all along and this is the source of your lost engines. Although I'm curious - where did they say the lines are leaking to? I would think you would be seeing oil on the ground if they were leaking bad.

Although I should say that my "new" lines were leaking at first (we didn't have the right size socket to tighten the big fittings going into the oil cooler), and if I remember correctly the oil just collected in the plastic undertray without making it to the ground.

Yet another thought - did you call MNAO? If you told them you were on your 4th engine and they just found these leaking oil lines, they might help you out. Worth a shot.

Getting the actual lines are the least of my worries. Getting it back from these extortionists/thieves is what I need.
I have a friend that is a salesman in the auto parts industry. He advised me that I have to follow the chain of command. I talked to the service writer, now I have to go to the service manager -> general manager/owner -> MNAO (Oakbrook anyone have the exact address?) -> Ill States Attorney & NHTSB. I tried to talk to the SM & GM on Friday. They were gone for the day @ 2:30(?). I'll have to try again Monday PM.

Al,

PM RSD - I think she has contact info for a specific person at the Oakbrook office that might be able to help you out.

miztic,

Just remember there will always be somebody with more power out there.

Be careful once you start modding - as you can see by my sig, it can start to get addictive

Also, I know we were talking a bit one on one about track events, but I forgot to tell you that I will be driving at autobahn on saturday. I think it is 5 bucks to get in if you aren't driving. If you want to come out and watch a track day for awhile to see what one is like, that would be a good opportunity. I would definitely recommend coming out to watch one before driving in one.

I'm not sure what kinda mods i can pull off, it seems like keeping the warranty around is probably worth it

and thanks for the track day invite, if I'm in town I'll definitely come out to watch

you can at least put a cat back exhaust on your RX8 without voiding your warranty.

I would like a more bit agressive sound, and I was told a high flow cat would be a good mod to get

While hi-flow cats give you about 7 rwhp, many people have had problems with them going bad. If you decide to get one, I would keep the oem cat on the side. If nothing else to put on the car to pass emissions testing once you get the codes reset, if the hi-flow does go bad and you use it any way. I found a found a universal hi-flow metal cat that is in testing at the moment by another RX8 owner.

well with a High flow cat.. it is a possiblity that they will void your warranty on some things.. it all depends on how cool you are with the Stealership.. i mean dealership..i didnt put my high flow cat on until my bumper to bumper warranty went out. and Yes it is a good thing to keep your stock cat. Never sell it

The Chicago Region SCCA will be putting on a autocross drivers school in April at Rt66 Speedway parking lot. Going to that school will give you about a years worth of experiance in one weekend. I would recoment attending a couple of autocrosses before you start open tracking. There isn't any comparison between driving on the street and on the track. The best place to find out about the autocross school is at the Chicago Autoshow, @ the SCCA booth, or at the Chicago Region website.

Hopefully I can get back out to the track next year, I would love to get a large group of people out to the track to get a good feel what it is like. Plus the more people that come, the better we can get to know each other, and I love giving ride alongs

This is only my 5th track day, so I'm a bit of a beginner too.

The event runs from 8 am to 5 pm at Autobahn Country Club on Saturday. It is a Northwest Shelby Club event.

Here is a list of participants. Looks like I'm the only RX-8, so I should be easy to find in the paddock. It does look like they are getting a really big turnout.

I think I read somewhere where the facility will be charging 5 bucks for people to get in that aren't driving, but I'm not sure on that. You will have to check in at the building at the front gate, sign a waiver, and pay your fee there.

Hey there, haven't been on here for a while so I'm not sure whats really new, lol... I'd figure I shall share a story from yesterdays funny incident =)

So I was out with the girlfriend out for some ice ream, I leave the ice cream store to have a seat outside. Doing so, I see a guy with like a box going torwards my car, I figured at first, maybe he is going to the car parked next to mine, but no wait....??? he is going closer to mine. So I thought he might want to put the box and stuff on my roof of my car to open his car, but wait... no, he is trying to open my door with a key. I'm like WTF!!! Maybe there is another blue rx-8 around the lot and he thought it was his. But I didn't see any around myself, so I quickly hit the alarm, as I see this stuff going on. The guy jumps, looks around and continues to walk in a different direction. I went too see if my car was okay and at the same time watched to see where the guy is going. He ends up going to a Blue 2000ish Toyota Corolla S type, I guess the color was similar, but not the same anyways... I have no idea how the guy confused a Mazda with a Corolla??? lol

P.S. I finally got a Rx-8 transformer =) yeayyyyy!!!

Not actual cars at the scene lol....

Service sucked for me and I bought the car from them, but then again every dealer I went to sucked lol... But they are the only ones I still go to out of the 3 I did.

My bad experiance in the following:
Autobarn, Evanston
Jacob Twin Mazda
Roto Mazda
Napleton Mazda of Schaumburg

whats up all!!

Whats up everyone. I hope everyone is doing good. I just brought my 8 to the dealer today 2nd gear grinding when shifting from 1st to 2nd while hot over 6,000 +. So we will see if they warranty it. I told the service manager about not being able to shift to 1st while rolling, even at 1 mph he said "you are not supposed to" . Has anyone ever heard about this before?? doesnt make much sense to me so I thought I would ask. I will keep you updated on my situation.
