Indoor go-kart racetrack to open second site in Addison
By Elisabeth Mistretta | Daily Herald Staff
Published: 2/13/2008 12:17 AM
A new fleet of cars will race into Addison this summer.
Instead of zooming down Lake Street, though, they will gear up by September inside a building at 2391 W. Army Road.
The 105,000-square-foot site will become the second home to Chicago Indoor Racing, an indoor go-kart racetrack.
Chicago Indoor Racing co-owner Tony Stewart said the larger Addison location will offer similar features to the existing Buffalo Grove location, including two race tracks, a full bar and restaurant and meeting and game rooms.
The Addison facility also will offer a new feature called Cyber Sport, a game similar to Whirlyball featuring newer cars and electronic scoring.
Stewart said this will be the first Cyber Sport in the Chicago area. The 10-player game combines bumper cars with elements of hockey lacrosse, basketball.
"Basically, it's taking Whirlyball to the next level," he said. "It's taking something very popular and fun and tweaked it -- taking all the fun bits but incorporating the latest technology."
Other features in Addison will include two racing tracks that can be combined to make one larger track, and a meeting room that can accommodate up to 400 people for corporate clientele.
Addison officials say Chicago Indoor Racing will compliment attractions like nearby Dave & Buster's.
"It's going to be a nice entertainment venue," Assistant Village Manager John Berley said. "Normally that would just be a warehouse. Now it will bring people to Addison that normally wouldn't be here otherwise."
Village officials also were happy with Chicago Indoor Racing's zero-tolerance policy for alcohol, which requires participants to take a breathalyzer if suspected of drinking before a race. Alcohol will be sold, however, for those who aren't racing or have finished their session.

It has to do with the Danish editorial cartoonists, their images of Muhammad and attempts to censor their cartoons. There have been news reports of these cartoons in this country, but you have to search the inet to find these cartoons. They are being censored here too.

Well, that is exactly what we have come to expect in today's society. We bend over backwards to make the vocal minority feel better about themselves.
I can't wait for the Middle East to run out of oil so we can let those guys run each other back into the Stone Age.

I just found out that one of the people shot on the NIU campus is my friend's niece. I know her entire family and just can't believe it. What is wrong with people today?!?!?

So sorry to hear that...I work in the DeKalb area, and the hospital that everyone was taken to is a client of mine...I shot (video) of the press conference on Friday - it was quite surreal...I hope your friends family is ok - is that girl ok? I'm hoping she was one of the survivors.

That is just awful...I am so sorry to hear that. You just never think something like that would happen near you or to people you care about. My office is just 5 miles from NIU and many of my staff are NIU grads and some have spouses who work there...truly a sad and devastating time - I hope you and your friend's family somehow find peace in this tragic time.

Anyone know if schaumburg mazda has courtesy cars while your car is in the shop?
story:
My CEL came on last week. Went to schaumburg mazda since I was in there area and had them pull the code. P0850. Apparantly it had something to do with the clutch switch and cruise control. (at least that is what their book said, cause the guy didn't know. He said I would need to bring it in so they could really figure out what is wrong.
So I went in last thursday and after sitting for awhile they said the neutral safety switch needs to be replaced. They are also ordering replacement linkages for my wipers as they started squealing really bad a couple weeks ago. The tech tried to lube them but it didn't fix the issue. They did say that when I come back to have the switch replaced I will need to leave it either over night or at least half a day as the need to work around the cat and don't feel like burning themselves. I didn't think to ask right away if they would have a car for me to drive.
They also told me my front pads are paper thin and offered me a low low price of $320 to replace them. Seemed like a sweet deal and I have always liked the high pitch squeal of my brakes, but I had to decline.
I am probably going to get hawk ceramics through car boutique.
If anyone has any different suggestions for low dusk, low noise, but good performance brake pads please let me know. (or a better place to get them)

Schaumburg Mazda - is that the little boutique-looking place on Golf Rd.? If so - AVOID THOSE JACKASSES... I went in there ONCE when I moved back up from Georgia, and the service manager (read: fat d8mb-fu**) told me not only would they not honor my warranty program (I have some special extension to my warranty) but that they didn't have time to talk he was busy...
I would never, ever, ever go back in there.

A friend bought a CX7 from Schaumburg Mazda. They had a problem with all the dealer installed options that they purchaced. Not one of them was put on correctly and they had to go back several time to have them redone or have replacement parts installed. These replacement parts were ones to correct install errors that were too bad to repair. It was 2 months before everything was correct. Somethings were done wrong twice.
I would never go there.

Whew...after a bit of a long day yesterday, I got my new brake pads on (Hawk Ceramics) and my OEM Sirius installed as well. It did take 2 trips to the auto parts store and one to Anderson Mazda (we cracked the last bolt on the caliper - luckily, the service dept there had an old one laying around - otherwise it was an order only part that would've sidelined my car for a few days...) BTW, all this was accomplished with the skills of my brother-in-law - who did more of the work than I did...
Pulling the head unit was a pain - we did find that the mystery bolt had been removed by the dealership when they replaced my heater control unit last year, and the bolt wasn't replaced - of course we searched for it for quite a while before I found a post here saying that even dealerships often don't replace it.
We ran the cable thru the center console raceway into the trunk instead of around the side which seamed like a good idea at the time (thought it would be faster) in the end, I'm sure it was a wash because we had to take other things apart to get into the trunk.
In the end, no brake problems (vibration, noise, etc. - so far, so good) and I really like the Sirius as well. Quite the adventure - I know many of you have torn your 8's apart far more than that, but there was a point where we had quite a bit of the interior pulled apart laying on the garage floor on towels and you start thinking..."hope we can get this back together..."
