FWIW - Schaumburg Mazda
I dropped my car off Wednesday night to have the neutral safety switch and the windshield wiper linkages replaced.
Overall not a bad experience. A couple weeks ago I had it diagnosed, they ordered the parts, and then replaced them. Nothing really bad about it.
The only thing I did have an issue with was the fact that I had scheduled this with them so that I could get one of their loaners. When I went they didn't have a car for me, so they called enterprise. Why they couldn't have just done that a week earlier I have no idea, but oh well.
As for enterprise:
Their customer service was excellent. I was very impressed. I had to wait for a car because they didn't have any on their lot, but it was only ~5 minutes after we had finished the paperwork. The manager even called me about 30 minutes after I left saying she was sorry for the wait and asked if there was anything she could do to make up for it! I was really suprised as I really didn't mind the wait at all. They told me ahead of time that they sent someone to get a car, so I was expecting a 40-50 minute wait(which I wasn't too happy about, but they were caught off gaurd by the dealership) but it wasn't anywhere near that!
Back to the story: as we're going through the paper work the guy looks up and says "Alright they got a car! It looks like were getting you a...oh...uh PT Cruiser."
I didn't expect to get a good car or anything...but I also wasn't expecting I would be getting in touch with my feminine side because of a rental.
At least it was black.
Best part of the story...as I was driving down golf, what pulled up next to me?

I felt a deep Chrysler bond between us as we drove next to each other. It was great! It felt just like I was walking a dog who hadn't taken a dump for a year.

It's just a question of how much is it worth to you. A professional autocross school will likely get you another tenth or two off your time. But, it will cost you a lot more also.

Ok...these potholes are WAY out of hand - I know they're bad everywhere, (I've driven all thru the western burbs in the past few weeks), but they are INSANE in the Rockford area - we have one main road that has over 2500 potholes in a 1 mile stretch and half of the road has been closed down. I don't think people realize just how big of a deal this is...you could have every road crew known to man out 24/7 and not get through half of the potholes in Northern IL this year - many areas will require complete resurfacing, not just patching - I plan my routes now based on pothole avoidance rather than shortest distance. I was on 52 in Joliet and hit a spot where I was going under 5mph to get across a bad section. Unbelieveable.

The class gets you more seat time than any regular event. Even if you only pick up a few helpfull things it may make a big difference in your total times at events. If you have been able to improve everytime you go out without an instructor great! The more seat time better you can get. I still pick up details when I ride with other drivers, either way it is about having fun and the RX8 in an autocross is a blast!
You never know what the midwestern weather is going to be like in any given time. If it snows in July, I am ready

I was wondering what people were using for brake pads;
I am planning on doing a little auto-xing and maybe some track racing this summer, but not too extensively. Ive been told that brakes are pretty much the best/most important thing to update to do this, and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to use.
Id like to try to steer away from anything that would destroy the rotors too quickly if thats a possibility.

Also, I was told of a free 1 day racing school being held at the Autobahn on March 29th.
Its run by North Suburban Sports Car Club

I'm not sure if its any good or worth going to, but at least its free. They have high speed auto-x and wheel to wheel racing, according to the ad. So far I am planning on attending; let me know if anyone else is interested in checking it out.

currently we have two cruises on april 26 and may 17. I'm sure we could get some people to meet in between if you won't be in for either of those!

Just got back and feeling WAAAYYYYY to lazy to go over a years worth of posts. Can anyone fill me in on the important stuff? Any immediate recalls, cool new toys (for the car you sickos), etc.
