Welcome, I work for BP also. Up in Naperville/Warrenville offices. Check the Chicago Meets thread for our goings on. The first post has all the latest information. BTW, Whiting is in IN (Indiana). Not IA (Iowa)

My apologies on the IA, I seriously am horrible at geography!

I found the chicago-meet thread last night, I am very excited to get out there. Compared to law school, I am going to have truckloads of free time. I look forward to getting out on the weekends and enjoying myself -=D

PS -- I am interested in trying to play some soccer in a Men's league this summer, any one know of a team / league?? I played last summer in Houston, the heat was absolutely horrendous!?!?!!!?!!

Wow that website is great! I really can't wait to get back to a big city (spent most my life in Houston and Austin!) for a little while!

I am going to have to get some input from yall about where to go to get a few drinks downtown! The only place I've been is the signature room @ the 2nd tallest building's top 2 floors... cant remember the name of the building! When my gf comes to visit I will have to pretend like I know the city

I have been to Napervile Great area!!

What do you do for BP? I work for Fluor, an engineering, procurement and construction company that is just starting a large project at the Whiting refinery. I have some experience in Cost and Scheduling within project controls. I worked out of the Houston home office for a little while after undergrad -- before I started law school. I think it will be interesting to get my hands dirty in the field!

The Signature Room is the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building. I take all of my out-of-town friends there instead of the Sears Tower. For the same price as admission to Sears, you can get a drink and a great view!

If your gf likes shopping, she'll love Michigan Ave (the magnificent mile) cuz they've got pretty much everything there. Grant Park/Millenium Park is pretty when the weather is nice. Steer clear of Navy Pier ... it's all touristy crap (and not the good kind).

Waaaaaaay too many places to name for a drink Be sure to have lots of Chicago deep dish pizza (Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, etc.) and a good Chicago hot dog (Portillo's, Wiener's Circle, etc. Gene & Jude's out by O'Hare is my favorite!)

OK, I'll stop now cuz my mouth is watering!

They won't tell me too much until I get out there, but from what I've gleaned so far our primary objective appears to be adding more burnt-turd scent into all available smokestacks Sorry!

By the way, importshowoff84's signature is making my mouth water! I look forward to meeting up with you guys (and gals) next month!

And as for the gf, she does like shopping but unfortunately we are BOTH poor law students. Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to keep her AWAY from Michigan Ave

I used to keep my boat at Hammond Marina. That smell is from the soap factory there. We hated it when the wind was in the wrong direction. I think there is a corn starch factory in the same neighborhood that adds to it.

Mspeedpro: I work in IT, as does quite a few of us that own RX8's. Once you get on the BP net and email, you can look me up.

I was at the carwash today washing my car, this guy that works there comes up and says the following things:

Guy: Hows Mazda?
Me: Good

Guy: Whats the sticker price?
Me: About $27k

Guy: Built in Mexico?
Me: No

Guy: My friend a mechanic says built in Mexico
Me: No, heres the vin number tells you all the information about the car J for Japan, M for Mazda, then engine, body, etc.

Then he kept insisting that the Rx-8 is built in Mexico...

Guy: You beleive that?
Me: ..... Okay, wtf???

Me: I am an ex-Toyota technician, I know my cars
Guy: Where's Toyota built?

Me: Japan, USA, Canada
Guy: 4Runner only built in Japan

Me: Yea 4Runner is one of Toyota's built in Japan

The guy walks away whispering under his nose like I don't know what I'm talkin about???

I didn't even bother responding to him anymore, what a weird guy...

My parents had their boat at Hammond Marina a couple of summers ago. They got sick of the smells and that it was out pretty much in the middle of no where. No where to go to if you are not going out on the lake and hardly any close food. All of it that is around is a car ride away. They went to New Buffalo, MI last year and love it up there.

That speed & low pressure will create a lot of heat in the tire. A sure recipe for dramatic tire failure and loss of control. Kids don't try this at home.

Wish I'd been on the forums last night I would have gone for a run. Speaking of which if anyone in the area ever does just let me know, I'm on vacation so I've got plenty of time.
