Driving Routes in/around Madison, WI

Hi everyone, I just joined the forum a couple of days ago.
My name is John, and I have a 2005 sunlight silver rx-8 6mt, and I live on the west side of Madison.
The only good driving route with some nice twisties is County Hwy J (Off of Hwy PD), but other than that, I've failed to find another nice country road to drive on without going into the Mt. Horeb area.
Just seeing if anyone here have any insight on any hidden gems that I'm not discovering.
Thanks in advance!

i just left madison for the twin cities but found a few roads that were fun on my motorcycle while i was there before i had the 8. obviously the less traveled roads will be more hard core twisty - for that wisconsin is known for its alphabet roads - otherwise the best luck i've had near town involves the mount horeb area.

1) To New Glarus (nice to stop at the brewery too) - see the link

pine bluff south on County S to mount horeb, south on County JG, East on County A then continue on County G, then County O into New Glarus

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...7&ie=UTF8&z=12

2) For a faster road 78 North out of Mount Horeb into Sauk City is pretty decent, then 19 east or west between 78 and 12 is fun, but watch for gravel in some of the corners.

3) Hwy 33 out of LaCrosse through Wildcat Mountain State park was real clean and fun on the bike

4) Hwy 16 from LaCrosse into Lanesboro, MN is phenomenal - asphalt rollercoaster - should have pretty good luck with anything around southwestern wisconsin (LaCrosse and the Mississippi river)

i guess i'll have to overlook your being a wolverine since we have similar taste in cars - good luck!

Thanks for the recommendation!!! I'll have to check them out sometimes soon.

lol are you a buckeye in Minnesota?

Or a Badger forced to leave for the twin cities?

Anyways, good luck in the twin cities to you!

Cheers

you bet.

i am a badger living in gopher-land. need to be where the job is, and it can be fun being on the minority side of a friendly rivalry.

yeah, i suppose ohio state is your premier big10 rival being the border battle, but i know Wisco holds michigan pretty high on the list given michigan's history of being the big10 powerhouse. we just always lose the close ones!

enjoy madison!

Thank you sir.

Wisconsin will be fine, as long as they get rid of Bret Bielema.

Would hate to see the fine program Wisconsin football has become under Barry Alvarez go to waste.
