Evolv-Chicago Meets HERE...

I'll snap his neck.
If you do a search on "forest preserve", i'm guessing there is all kinds of interesting reading on window tint. We don't want to go talking about it again and get RSD in a bad mood before saturday's meet.
Speaking of which, I'm hoping to make it. I just got the Evo-R spoiler installed today. So if you've been wanting to see one in person, hopefully i will be there saturday. Probably just for awhile in the afternoon, and maybe if we do something afterwards.

LOL, tint vs UV coating!! Hahahahahahahaha, yea I had my day(s) in court. Fought it for 3 months and finally had to plead guilty to the parking ticket to get them to drop the tint.
anyway, plans (if everyone is still up for it) are to head to O'Sullivan's Pub in Plainfield after the track day.

Has anyone checked out the forecast for Saturday? It doesn't look promising.

That's the same forecast we had last time we went. The rain stayed away last time, hopefully it will do the same this time.

FYI - I saw that CRH posted this in his thread on his trip...
"I must apologize for any disappointment or hurt feelings I have caused with my over-enthusiasm, but here's how my plans are panning out;
Rather than extend this drive to several days, Michelle and I have decided to keep things simple and get to AZ as quick as we can with one, maybe two, stops along the way. We will have to eschew the Chicago/Madison/Omaha stops and, instead, drive directly to Kansas City for the first leg. There, we will meet up with Rotaryfan04 and friends for a get-together dinner/BBQ of some kind and stay the night in town. The next morning we will head west toward either Denver or New Mexico. Then we will make our way to Oro Valley, which is between Phoenix and Tucson.
I apologize if the midwest cities have made plans and I have now broken them. However, if services are needed in those areas I will have a much more flexible schedule and be far more available after my buyout from Ford takes effect and before I buy a house in AZ.
Thank you for all the well wishes and support you have all given me now and in the past. Like I always say, this forum means the world to me and this is why."

Yea, there is only one way in and it's a small area for paddock/spectating.
As far as the weather, it was supposed to rain here today and I haven't seen a drop. In fact, it's nice a sunny out now!

Anyone going to the Mazda event at Autobahn this Saturday: we will be at the Gas City at I-55 & Weber Road around 7am.
Otherwise you can find us there, the place is not huge and there is only one entrance. Note: it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere

Looking at the facility map, it looks like there is an entrance on the south side and the east side. I'm assuming the entrance you are talking about is the east entrance?

That whole are by Ent 2 was not available when I was there last year. We were not able to go anywhere other than straight in from Ent 1 to the paddock. I hope it's open this time because viewing the track from turns 9 to turn 1 at the straight can get a bit ... monotonous
I don't know if they allow ride-alongs, but bring an extra helmet just in case.

hmmmm ... I've only been there once. We went in Entrance 1 (didn't even know there was another entrance) and they gave us such a hard time. We had to know someone's first & last name for them to allow us to PAY to SPECTATE! Luckily it was set up by someone on the forum who had listed his last name. I botched it trying to get in, but it worked well enough.

"If the passenger is over 16 years old, and you are enrolled in the Intermediate or Advanced then yes. We would need a track Waiver signed
prior to getting in the vehicle. For Novice driver we will have a ride
along instructor with the driver".
I signed up for novice but may move up depending on the novice group goes. He said moving up would be OK if the instructor felt you were up to it. Oh, and there was only one entrance open last month, I believe it's the main one with the registration building.

I don't recall it asking about my track experience or what group I wanted...though I would like to be in novice because I want a track instructor, at least for a few sessions since I've never driven there before.

I would probably also start out in novice because I've never been there before but I don't want to be outpacing the whole field like Devildog was last time we were there. I would hope that I could still have an instructor ride along if I moved up to the intermediate group?

Hmm, don't have a helmet. Anybody have an extra one for an extra large head? Not big from the brain, but from all the rocks in there.
If not, no biggie. I wasn't really planning on trying to do a ride along, but if somebody has an extra helmet and somebody is willing to take someone with them, me or my wife might try it.

Make sure you bring a long sleeve shirt, some places won't let you ride without one.
