The go to Shop (Performance Autowerks)
Well guys....I have begun major transformation on my 8. It should come out a BEAST. I went to many different shops to scope out what they are all about. I decided going to Performance Autowerks. They are located in Plainfield. I must say the shop is great. They have experience with practically every kind of engine, EMS tuning, etc. They have an in house dyno. They can fab, install, do basically anything you want done. They have even done some work for Michael Jordan and will have two cars (Solstice with LS2 swap), You can see one of them on the Lounge threads titled Fast and Furious 4. The pic of the car is on page 2 of the yellow solstice.
Their prices are great and EXTRMELY fair. And they are totally excited about doing an RX8. It'll be their first one. They would LOVE to do more. That doesn't concern me given as they assured me they will take their time and take great care. What I look for in a shop is the chemistry between them and the customer (customer service), how well the shop is taken care of, past build/work, and obviously prices. Everything IMO is a perfect 10.
I can't really say much else about the shop except for I highly recommend them SO FAR lol. They are currently awaiting my turbo kit. So, basically I will give my final thoughts after everything is said and done.
MDW1000 *Mark* met me up there and I'm sure he will put in his thoughts as well. I think he feels the same though. We talked to them about doing a dyno day and I really think this would be a great thing. They really set it up for a fun time. Plus the prices range from a group of around 10 cars would be like 60 bucks and close to 20 cars would be 50 bucks. Mark will make a seperate thread to see if we can get something going.
Check them out at www.performanceautowerks.com And no they aren't paying me to write this up I'm simply doing this because I know how hard it was to find a shop when I began m search.

i was looking for a good shop to get some work (flywheel & clutch upgrade) done to my rotary in my area and remembered Performance Autowerks in plainfield, il. gave 'em a call just now and was quoted $500 for the work. that's for replacing my flywheel or flywheel and clutch as well. does that sound like a fair price to you guys?

I believe the dealer shop rate for changing a clutch is 5.5 hrs. I think the quote is fair.
Isn't this the place we had a Dyno Day/Tuning session last June?
We (EvolvChicago) already has a dyno day Apr 24th at Shook Motorsports. See EvolvChicago.org for details.

Although I should say the dealer price included the parts, so it is not an apples to apples comparison. I think it was around 800 bucks to replace the clutch (all parts included), and more if you wanted to do the flywheel as well. But don't quote me on that - I asked about it awhile ago.
