idling @ 4000

i just moved to IL from CA. it was 5 degrees farenheit this morning. when i started my 8, it idled at 4,000rpm for few seconds. it gradually went down as the car warmed up. this happened yesterday morning also. is this normal? is the 8 trying to warm up faster to compensate for this extra cold weather?

This is fine. Normally it will start out high and gradually when the car gets warmer it will go down. It was 19 here this morning and my car idle at 3000. It then went down to 2000 and up to 2500 and back down. After 5 mins or so it should idle between 750-1000.
