Nope. Normally 60y/o women driving them.

Oddly enough I myself find that to be true...usually see older women driving the 8s...I wonder why...

By the way, what summer tires do most of you guys use? My OEM looks pretty much like F-1 tires now so I'm planning to get a new set. Any recommendation? Thanks.

Sorry man I've never used it. I take it you want to use it to clean out the carbon build-up? I'm not sure how necessary it is for me since I premix with Marvel Mystery Oil and usually change my oil before it hits 3,000.

STL05 03-08-2011 04:04 PM

Yeah I Change my oil every 2500 and premix just thought it would be worth a shot to keep it clean

STL05 03-08-2011 04:06 PM

@gumboo. I use General Exclaim UHP's and I love them I drove my 8 two times this winter and they got around no problem in snow. On dry they are like being on rails I have them on my M3 as well. Just my personal choice.

I just recently did the seafoam treatment to mine. Well worth it. It's pretty simple too. There is a DIY if you need some assistance. Wait here you go. https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=seafoam
My car runs much smoother now though.

Just figured I would stop in and say hi. Just bought an '04 black manual and am loving it so far (except the stereo but that's another story) it's a blast to drive. I'm in Saint Joseph so a short drive from the kc area.

I actually was wondering if anyone knew of any track days or auto-x for beginners to get involved with in the area?

TrevorsTII 03-23-2011 10:21 AM

kcrscca.org is the Kansas City Region SCCA Site. Good group of guys, i ran with them for a season. The tracks they host are awesome too.

If I remember right, the service advisor over at Laird Noller Mazda in Lawrence told me that my gas tank air outlet was cloaked or something, and that's why gas pumps couldn't 'read' the pressure difference in the tank, or something along that line. The only reason I know my tank was replaced was cause he showed my old tank on the floor, and a newer looking tank under my car :)

Will it kill the car to use 89 or 87 gasoline? I only use 91 or 92, not willing to risk it, but still curious..

Finally got my 8 back after it being out for over a month! Had to get a replacement engine and they were on back-order. She drives like a dream now. Fio07, I drive through the plaza everyday and haven't seen ya once. Quit hiding hahaha. I live off of Shawnee Mission Parkway.

@BoxofSticks

Which dealer did you use for your engine replacement?

You live around the Joe? I might have seen you, did your RX-8 originally come with the 16" automatic wheels?

That one wasn't me, I have chrome 18" and just got her about a month ago. The only other 8's I have seen in Joe Town has been a White one on campus and a red base running around town.

As long as the weather doesn't ruin it, Import Face-Off is May 1st at KCIR. I am definitely planning on attending. I'll be the only 8 in my group heading down but anyone else is welcome to join the caravan...

@ STL05

Sorry for the late reply.

I went to Tumminia Mazda. Don in the service department was surprisingly helpful. Everything was covered under warranty so no cost to me! :ylsuper:

OlatheRX8 07-08-2011 06:52 PM

I've been using 87 for a few months now. I'm not an aggressive driver. It seems to run fine. I'll move back to 91 when the price comes back down.

OlatheRX8 07-08-2011 06:55 PM

I also use Goodyear F1 A/S that seem to do okay. And by okay I mean they do okay in the snow for my limited use of them in those condition. They are great for summer driving. If you drive to work any distance the you might get something better in the snow than these. My 2cents anyway.

I have the same on my car. They work fine up here. I put them on last fall. I don't think they make them anymore. You would have to check on that.

OlatheRX8 07-08-2011 07:03 PM

Welcome to all the new owners and those who just joined. We all need to meet sometime soon!

Agreed! Speaking of meeting up Import Face-Off is in October...

BradG33 07-10-2011 04:06 PM

I'm thinking about picking up an RX8 in the next month or two. I haven't owned a car in nearly 5 years, but I'm moving back to KC and will need one. How do these things get around in the winter? I don't expect them to do well in heavy snow/unplowed roads, but is it a practical daily driver in the winter if I can get a ride from my wife on the "really bad" days?
