In my area BP is the only gas station that has 92 octane and I always filled up at the same one and then like 3 times in a row even at the lowest fill setting it would always overflow! I was so angry because I always thought the pump is what was supposed to detect when the fuel was overflowing and kick off? Did you try refueling at a different gas station before you got your fuel tank replaced?

Yeah I did try different gas stations here in the KC area and in Lawrence, and all did the 'overflow' thing. If I remember right, the service advisor over at Laird Noller Mazda in Lawrence told me that my gas tank air outlet was cloaked or something, and that's why gas pumps couldn't 'read' the pressure difference in the tank, or something along that line. The only reason I know my tank was replaced was cause he showed my old tank on the floor, and a newer looking tank under my car :)

Have you ever met BDoty? He's showing up to take my car for a spin as he'll be in the market for an RX-8 soon and wants a hassle-free test drive.

Tirminyl 03-26-2010 03:19 PM

Surely, my garaged 8 can see the rain ;) :D:

RWatters 03-27-2010 12:22 AM

RX-8's won't melt in the rain I promise. ;)

I'll be there at around 12:30.

limpbozkit 03-27-2010 08:09 AM

Sorry guys I'd have to drive an hour minimum to get there and it's just not as much fun if you cant stand outside and look at at each others cars and talk. Also cameras WILL melt in the rain. I look forward to the next oppertunity!

Zonly1 03-27-2010 09:02 AM

Haha, nope. We went in to eat, hung out in the parking lot, went to NFM and on my way home it sprinkled.

RWatters 03-28-2010 12:52 PM

A lot of RX-8's and rain were missing at the meet. Seriously, not a single sprinkle the entire time we were there. The skies waited until the drive home to start to open up.

I'd love to do another meet, but I think next time I'll just set it up in JoCo that way I don't have to drive 30+ minutes just to hang out with a friend that lives 15 minutes away. lmao

Hopefully at the next meet my car will FINALLY get washed (I haven't had a chance to wash it since I bought it!), will be detailed, will have an intake, and will be lowered. Hopefully. lol

Twiztid 03-28-2010 04:33 PM

I might be interested in the intake. will be in warrensburg on easter sunday. maybe we could meet up in kc somewhere

That sucks.

What an awesome weekend! Such beautiful weather! It was so good I decided to give the RX-8 a nice bath then I gave it a coat of NXT 2.0. I forgot how amazing this color looks after you wax it. I also snapped some shots of it:

These were taken before the wax-job so there are more swirls than there are now. It needs a buffer bad as it has some deep surface scratches that wax applied by hand are not going to cover up.

I think my car got a good 100 miles put on it over the weekend. I took advantage of the weather and cruised until I could cruise no more. I hope you all did as well!

limpbozkit 04-05-2010 09:57 AM

Cruise you say? Sure did! I waxed mine as well, I usually use NXT 2.0 but Eagle 1 has a new gel wax out I wanted to try instead. It's not supposed to make your black trim pieces look chalk white if it gets on them. As for the black plastic trim pieces, you couldn't tell if the gel wax got on it or not. Unfortunately I couldn't tell where else I had applied the wax either as it is almost completely transparent. It was also somewhat difficult to get off so I'd recommend sticking to Tech Wax...

Hey guys I was just wondering what type and weight of oil do you guys use in the summer?

The kind Mazda dealerships recommend and put in it so if I ever have engine troubles they don't give me a truck-load of shit. Although from the sounds of it it's a hope and a dream to get them to replace it anyways so maybe I shouldn't. lol

STL05 04-12-2010 05:33 PM

Haha thats very true man. Thanks bud. And what dealer do you go to?

I've only taken the car in once so far and that was to Tuminia to have the MSP16 done. For oil changes I'm sure I'll use them as well since they're a 5-6 minute drive from my house.
