Lee's summit Mazda
Anyone had any work done at teh Lee's Summit Mazda yet (it just opened 50 and Todd George)? I've been to the Steve Oliver on Stateline and Glen is a class act. However the LS location is about 3 miles from the homestead, so I thought I would give it a try (unless warned away).

Thanks Wrexx, I'd greatly appreciate any insights you have.
Vamp6,
I guess "class act" may not have been the most descriptive term. Not that he is or isn't, I don't really know. What I meant was that I felt like my ride was in good hands and that shop seemed to do a good job. I just happen to have worked through him in the front. He seemed stright forward though, which is a good thing.

I've had mostly good experiences with Glen, except for the fact he recommended summer tires to me when I told him I needed to be able to get around in snow. Oh well, they're great summer tires!

Who knows. After spending over $2000 in the past couple of weeks in **** for this car the last thing I want to do is drop another $200 for plugs/coils and I'll probably buy some Redline tranny fluid and do another drain/fill myself.

Also, the CEL is gone. My #2 rotary plugs were SHOT. I don't think they've ever been replaced. The leading plug had NO electrode left on it! It was a little more of a hassle to change plugs on this car than my Civic Si was but oh well. It's done and the car is running nice and smoothe now.
Also, don't order your plugs online. Call up Advanced Autoparts (I kid you not) and order from them. $19.98 each and they can have them in a day. $85 after tax and you get a one day turnaround. That's better than any deals I've found online!

Also, I would like to submit a formal request to Showoff to please continue flying down Mur-Len south of the 151st street stoplight. It's a beautiful noise to hear when I'm chilling in my room with the window open (as it faces right out towards Mur-Len) and it makes my night each and every time. Keep it up!

I worked out a deal with them. I'm going to buy some Redline MT-90 transmission fluid for my car and they are going to flush it out for free.

Also, how long did it take you to change out the plugs in your car, and what mileage do you have on it? I'm at about 64k miles, and as far as I know I'm on the original plugs.

At least they worked out a deal with you... but it still seems odd that, if they recommend a second flush because the first one didn't work, they are still making you buy your own fluid.

My front plugs had around 30k on them I believe (I know when I bought the car the front plug TSB had been done) and the back ones were original. My car has 54,900 miles on it as of today and most on this boards say 30,000 miles is plug replacement time. Like I said the electrode on the leading plug for the #2 rotor was completely gone. The trailing plug on the #2 rotor looked a little worn down but in decent shape. The leading and trailing plugs on the #1 rotor looked to be in great shape but I replaced them anyways since I bought the plugs.
Next up for my car is brakes (ordered HP+'s, resurfacing the front rotors), a new air filter (ordered an AFE dry-flow OEM replacement), and a slam-job (Tein S-Techs have been shipped and I have a set of OEM struts sitting in my trunk). I just had new tires put on, installed the exhaust system, the disaster of a tranny fluid flush, and I'll be having an alignment done after the car is lowered.
It's been a good month for my RX-8, and a bad one for my bank account. lol

Thanks for the info! I'm right at 30k on my 04 and was thinking that I would need to be looking into the plugs soon... Advanced Auto it is!

Welcome, Brandon! I think we'll definitely be having a meet in April from the sounds of it. I guess it's time to start planning it since April is only a few days away.
What types of meets are typically done with the 8-squad?

Good luck with the plugs at advanced, I was unable to get them, all they carry is the plugs for a FD rx7 with is 1 or 2 ranges colder then our plugs, good for nitrous use but not so great for daily driving. Spark plugs.com had the best prices around. http://www.sparkplugs.com/results_ap...1&AAIA=1416844 About 20 bucks a piece but its better then the dealer $200 to $250 a set.

And as far as best prices around goes, I disagree. After tax they're $85 and you get them in one day at Advanced Auto instead of spending $79 plus $15 in shipping and having to wait 3-5 days at Sparkplugs.com.
You can buy plugs through whoever you want, I'm just saying it's a waste of time (and money) to go through Sparkplugs.com when you can buy them locally for cheaper and get them faster. And this is coming from the guy who NEVER shops at local automotive places.

I agree that the dealership is a waste of money, BTW. They carry the SAME EXACT SPARK PLUGS but want $40-$50 per plug. When I asked them if they'd price match $19.95 they said that price was under their cost and they have no idea how I'm even finding the plug that cheap. lmao

I'm dropping my car off there tonight to have the second transmission fluid flush done and I may see if I can have that TSB performed as well while my powertrain is still under warranty.
