Apologies if it has already been posted, but anyone aware of a good mechanic near Grand Rapids with 8 experience? My normal mech was great for cheap, not necessarily legal fixes on my old cars, but I'd like to get the work done right with the 8.

I have been debating on whether I was going to go to this or to Lapeer Dragway to finally get some times with my car on the 4th. If it's moved, that makes my choice a lot easier.
And like I said, I will be going to Lapeer Dragway on Aug. 4th (Weather Permitting) to see how much slower my RX8 is than my old car. If anyone wants to meet up that would be awesome.
Sat's test & tune starts at noon and usually runs until 4pm. It's $25 at the gate. Lapeer is never that busy so you can get a ton of runs in. The address is: 2691 Roods Lake Rd. Lapeer, MI. 48446.

The cruise/cook out is in fact on the 25th.
Rumor has it that this is now going to be on the 25th of August. Is that the case?

I figured it would just be best to mention this here. My friend, Hank L. is the main parts guy at Ralph Thayer Mazda in Livonia. He will provide a 15% discount on Mazda parts for us RX8 guys. Just tell him that you heard about the discount through Joe at RX8club and he'll hook you up.
Also, he has a very good connection with Corksport and he can sometimes get discounts on Corksport stuff. When I was there the other day I also noticed that they carry a nice stock of Eneos fluids if you are ever in need for that.
Hank is a good guy and very much an auto enthusiast and he'll gladly help you out.

I was hanging out near Woodward and Long Lake tonight with the local PCA who I instruct with. I was sitting next to a Carrera GT
I didn't see 1 other RX-8 the whole night. I saw 1 ratty white FC though. No other Wankels. I even saw 2 Ferrari 458s.

Hello Michiganders,
From my research on this site, I think my 2004 GT 6MT is in need of new plugs/wires/coils (stumbling idle, CEL code P0301 - Cylinder Misfire Detected). I'm looking to save some money and try to do this myself, but I've got very little experience with car work. Anybody near Metro Detroit that has done this job on the 8 and might be able to give me a hand with it? I'll buy the beer and do the work, I just need someone to guide me through it, and maybe help with any parts that I'm not up to.
Thanks!

Hey guys, just bought my 8 about 2 weeks ago. New to the club, I've read a ton of stickys and what not. I'm in SE Michigan. I read read about Troy's Mazda not being the greatest. Anyone know anything about Suburban Mazda? So far I love the car and I want to stay up to date on maintenance.

Wisconsiner playing in Michigan
How "understanding" are the police in the UP? I recently had my RX8 in the UP, and found some wonderful roads to play on, but kept wondering what sort of trouble I could be getting myself into. By southeast Wisconsin standards, I was in the middle of nowhere. No crossroads, driveways or buildings. Just trees.

If you get pulled over by a state trooper, they are not understanding at all.

Saw a fellow sunlight silver series I in the Red Robin parking lot off of State St in Ann Arbor. Really clean with "Zombie outbreak response team" decals on it. Anyone on here?

Well it's been a long and depressing winter but the the weather is finally nice. Has anyone brought their 8s out to play yet?
Edit- It seems that michiganrotaryclub.com is down. I hope it's just a minor setback. I was looking forward to the annual cruise and cookout this year.
