^^ This is probably how the Andretti family got into racing. What an awesome thing to do with your son. (and brother, etc...)

I think everyone knew what you meant on the comment with the Mods. I agree, the 8 doesn't NEED anything. Any changes I've made were to be just slight improvements. (Tighten up the suspension, increase the induction noise, etc..) I'm not into "blingage" on my rides. Just functionality.

We have a race weekend coming up, 30 june and the first of July, If there is any interest I can see if we can get a "Road Test" during our lunch break. Many times we have clubs come and hang out at the Hill, then they are invited to drive thier cars out on the track for some parade laps. It's always a good time and if you are a car enthusiest, you will really enjoy the racing. Open wheel and closed wheel racing.

If there is any interest, I will open a new thread!

Yesterday, around 5:30pm, I followed a TI Grey RX8 with appearance package South down I275. There were two very nice looking ladies inside. The driver must have been married as the ring was large enough to see from 20 yards. LOL.

They got off (I275) at the Michigan Ave exit and headed east. It was nice having two 8's headed down the road together. So if you're a member out there, nice Mazda ... err and nice ring. LOL

I'm checking to see what event is being held at Waterford Hills next weekend, but it is always a good time, there will be a place that everyone can park next to each other in the grass overlooking most of the racing surface. Good chance to get together show off the cars and possibly get the cars out on track. (Parade laps)

So, bad news. I'm no longer in Michigan

Long story short; my mom came up with me and she didn't like the idea of me being there, her name is the main name on the car (my credit wasn't built up enough to buy it at the time), I could stay but she told me she was taking and selling my 8 or I had to come home, back to MD.

After she punched me in the face, I really had no other choice. So I drove for 18 hrs. in 2 days.

I'm not sure if I'll be returning. I may just give her the car to sell and buy a new one when I get up there.

Hmmmmmm..........sort of a strange series of events and for you an unsettling weekend by all standards. All things considered I hope all is now quiet on the home front, hopefully this all works out happily in the end. Got a nice drive out of it anyway......... Best of luck.........

Mandy,

No car, no amount of financial assistance, apartments, etc is worth putting a price tag on your pride and self respect. Shame on her for striking you. I hope this haunts her as no mother should hit their child in the face. I am deeply sorry you have gone through such emotional trauma.

My personal opinion, you should consider driving a used Kia before giving her the power over you. Stand up by yourself and take away any power she thinks she has. You will respect yourself more in the long run.

(Sorry for such personal advice. As a parent and one who had to make it on his own from 21yrs old, I can understand what you might have to go through.)

Best of luck to you girl! No matter where you live, your RX friends will always be here.

No no, I was literally punched in the face. She even bragged about it to my grandmother.

But I know I shouldn't allow her to have control over me, I just don't want to give up the only thing that made me happy at one of the hardest times of my life. It's kind of a personal thing

Perfectly understandable, I think that almost everyone faces a situation of this type sooner or later in their lives.
But eventually you will have to take your power back regardless of the cost to the material things that make it "OK" for now otherwise you risk big issues with self-worth & self-esteem. But only YOU can know when and if to do that.
In the meantime your friends will be waiting.

Hey -- figured this is the page some of you local guys might check. Anyone got a used OEM Potenza 040 tire I can buy (or borrow?) from you. I was going to buy four new tires but the ones I want are out of stock everywhere and on back order. So, I need one (or two) RE040's for a month or two till they come in. One of my tires is down to the wear bar and I have a 3000 mile trip coming up in July. Don't want to ride all that way on a tire that's worn. So, I need to replace that tire. Got any RE040's laying around that I can get from you cheap (since I only want it for a month or two)?

__________

17 cars!!! Excited about the recent metro-Detroit additions. What about the west side of Michigan or up North? If you know of anyone, let them know about us and have them list their information.

Maybe we should try for another Meet this summer (mid-August)? Maybe another Meet and Run to Hell, for all who couldn't come the first time -- like me?

PS. Anyone have a RE040 tire for me? (See 5 posts up.)
