anybody going to C&C this weekend?

ganseg 09-03-2011 10:36 AM

If you know anyone looking for a series II, Morrie's Mazda has a 2009 with $30k for $17,000. This is below KBB and Edmunds private party. I had been watching the price drop and it was $18500 when I bought a different car. If this was the price then, I would have bought this. Too late now.

I have no affiliation with Morries and I have not driven the car. The Autocheck on Morries website is clean. I would check CarFax too and ask the dealer if all the maintenance has been done to support the warranty.

Thompsolonian 09-04-2011 11:01 AM

I got my 8 from Morries, they are a really honest dealership. I live too far away to do regular service checks there so I go to Walser, which is also an honest Dealership. I am not affiliated with either, but those are the two Dealerships I recommend.

Stay away from Luther, bad news there...bought a car from them, broke down halfway home the day i bought it. They tried to charge me to fix it after i brought it back that same day...warranty or not, there is that 30 day lemon law...they actually never really fixed it, only temp, Had to bring it to my local garage, and after a third of what I paid later to fix it, it was finally fixed...

Wallets 09-04-2011 04:55 PM

I hate morries that is where I purchased my 8 from and they just lied about everything and had no idea about 8's luckily I read up on here before purchasing.

Also I purchased a "no" hassle extended warranty with them but there master tech is a d*ck who doesnt like to work on 8's. He has a million excuses about how the 8 is different than other cars so the hassle free warranty i purchased from them has been a joke...

Kaiser bun 09-04-2011 07:32 PM

I've done business at Walser (ordered various parts including the Mazdaspeed bumper), and they have been very good experiences except i've yet to see an SII the few times ive been there. Never done anything at morries except go and look at the $300k bentlys lol... I think they had 1 SII on the lot back in june when i was there, maybe that's the same one that ganseg is talking about.

ganseg 09-04-2011 09:22 PM

Yes, it is black. Luther and Walser start to drop prices around 90 days to move inventory.

Thompsolonian 09-05-2011 10:11 AM

The person who sold me my 8 was very knowledgeable, he let me test drive the crap out of it, gave me a pointer on where the black and whites don't hang out where I could open it up a little. Then a couple months later, I was in there for an oil change, and they noticed that my front pads were really low, they replaced them for free, I even got the MS pads because they had NO OEM on hand for some reason.

For Walser, I went in there for the clutch recall and for the ECU timing recall, they were really nice about everything, and I think the techs were even impressed at the conidition. BUT last week, it was idling rough again, and my check engine light came on, took it to Walser, they called Mazda, and I will be getting a new engine under warranty (it has 69000 on it). Their techs told me that my engine was showing the signs of going bad, they don't want to wait for it to really go bad and possibly have the warranty expired. They have one on order and it should be in sometime this week.

ganseg 09-05-2011 10:35 AM

Impressive!

Did your clutch pedal bracket fail or did they just replace it for you? If they just replaced it, i should tell the guy who bought my car. Never made me happy that I had to wait for it to fail somewhere - like at the track - before I could get it replaced for 'free'.

Wallets 09-05-2011 01:01 PM

WOW i may have to take mine to walser for my clutch and engine sounds like a reputable dealership

Wow, those are great stories. I think most people have a pretty mediocre feeling about any sales team, but the morries team was particularly hard for me to deal with. On the flip side, most people seem to really like the service departments at both, so that's the more important part for us..

I've posted my 8 for sale. 2004 base model, 50k miles, engine replaced by mazda at 35k due to blown compression. I just didn't like driving it in the winter (no traction control) so I need to get a semi-decent winter car. I might just end up keeping the 8 garaged if I don't sell it, but I'd like to have the $$ to put towards something new.

If anyone is interested let me know

My racing beat dual exhaust is still up for grabs. $300 for anyone local and I'll also throw in a K&N air filter with only a few thousand miles of use. I'll also deliver to anyone within 20 miles. Just trying to get rid of these parts to help fund my new winter project. I also have all season floor mats and an OEM car cover that I can work a deal with.

Well my 8 is sold. :-( Maybe sometime in the future I'll be back in one, but for now I'm moving on. Right now I'm looking at a speed3, speed6 or sti. The STI was my favorite during the test drive, but it's also the most $$$!

The strut tower bars are still for sale. I'd rather sell them to someone local so I can avoid the hassle of a long distance trade. If anyone is interested let me know.

ganseg 09-12-2011 07:33 PM

Its a sad day - I still miss mine daily. Sound like you have sue good choices on the list, particularly the speed 3 and subie.

wildriceboi 09-13-2011 05:49 AM

Yeah. $$ wise the speed3 is a no brainer compared to the sti. However, I'm not that anxious to get back in a FWD car :-/

Black Tire 09-18-2011 09:17 PM

I am strongly considering buying a new (2010 or 2011) RX-8 R3, but none of the Minnesota dealers has one to look at. I am most interested in checking out the Recaro seats and seeing how the suspension feels. Do any of you know someone in the Twin Cities (MN) metro area that has one and would be willing to let me take a look? I would be willing to ride to check out the suspension, I do not need to drive the car if that is a problem for the owner.
