Anybody else still driving their 8?

I saw a couple last week.

Red - turning onto industrial Blvd in NE minneapolis (i was pulling out of wendy's)
Blue (it was dark, not sure) - on france waiting to turn onto 62 westbound. I was getting off the frwy.

Still driving mine, but I was not the one you had seen. I've seen a silver one a couple times. Once at Ridgedale Mall outside Chipotle and I think the same one turning off 100 north bound right after going under 38th St.

I'm in Mankato, but yes, I drive mine year 'round - even last winter! I use a set of 17" Hankook Winter iPike tires, and that works out well.

That wasn't me either, but I drive mine year around too on stock rims and Blizzaks. Around the south Minneapolis and Bloomington area normally.

There's alot of 8s not on this board though, this type of question comes up alot and very rarely is it an active member.

At one point we did have a 14-15 car meet... the forum get more active in summer.. but a lot of people have been turning in their 8's in for a better mileage car.

I drive all year long. prophet, i pass yours almost everyday, if i see it outside.

I know we have been possibly planning a meet first week of june.

Kailas 02-02-2012 06:25 AM

Hey Tony, were you the one with the aftermarket spoiler at our last year meet. I'm the asian dude that was in the velo-red.
Was thinking about getting one but does the spoiler obstruct the rear view at all? The mini stock spoiler we get is already blocking a bit of the view. I want to know how the bigger spoiler is like.

Btw, anyone who works at Eagan Bestbuy with a Blue 8? I frequent that bestbuy, and wanna take a few pics with Blue and Red; looks nice together.

And on driving 8s in the winter...I still have summer tires on haha. awesome weather we got like 3-4 weeks ago.

Yes... That is me... it does obstruct the view quite a bit.. but not in a bad way, just something to get used to.. you can still see just limited. nice at night cause it blocks out all the truck's lights out there.

Kailas 02-03-2012 02:29 AM

lol I didn't know spoiler has a secondary use. But how much did you get yours for? And where do you recommend to get spoiler? I looked around online, but I have never bought aftermarket parts before.

the wing was universal... from vivid racing->http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/index.php, i've gotten all my parts shipped from there. the spoilers will range $160-$1300+, mine was only $220 at the time. My AEM CAI came from there, underdrive pulley, test pipe and exhaust has also come from there, pretty good shipping and finance options.

interior or cosmetics i go to rotary fx->http://www.rotaryfx.com/.

Kailas 02-04-2012 11:17 PM

Cool, thanks. I will check them out.

Spotted 2 RX8s On sunday.... 1 black downtown minneapolis Sunday morning.
1 at the MOA 6th floor parking ramp Sunday afternoon (Red). Both cars looked great

Prophet 02-07-2012 09:30 AM

Red one was probably me. Unless there was two of us. Lol

Hello everyone!

I'll be moving to the Twin Cities in May for a job (recent grad) and it'd be nice to meet some fellow Rx8 owners! Please keep me updated with any info on upcoming meets as I would gladly make the drive to MN. Of course, I'll be checking this forum myself for info as well... :)

Welcome, welcome. I know we're trying to arrange a meet the first week of June (see post above). But I thought maybe we could get a group out for the MN C&C (http://www.mncandc.com/) in April, I think it'll be April 7th.

Very nice, I've heard about the concept of a full MazdaSpeed RX8, but can't remember seeing pics. I wish Mazda would have released this version factory like they've done with the 3, 6, and others, but it makes this setup very rare. Hopefully I'll get to see it when you bring it out. Btw did you go to the dealer to get the wheels or somewhere else and what'd you pay (I seem them listed on the Mazda site for $650 a piece). I've been looking for new summer wheels and can't really find any aftermarket ones I like.

Kaiser bun 02-10-2012 10:02 AM

I'm loving the full MS, nice find if you just got it, and nice work if you did it yourself lol!

MAZSPDRX8 02-10-2012 12:01 PM

I brought the car back in 2007 brand new. Took me four yrs to fully get to where im at. The wheels ur looking at is not mazdaspeed, its 19" Rays g-games. I brought the kit directly from mazda dealers, all came painted and i did the work installing myself.

Prophet 02-13-2012 09:25 PM

Stopped by North Country Ford and seen another RX8 sitting in the visitors lot. A grey S1. Any one from on here? I parked my red S2 behind you.

New owner of a fabulous velocity red 8

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum and also owning such a wild beast. I just recently bought a velocity red RX8 and am truly impressed with it so far. I even got to test it on wet snow the other night and found as long as I don't over throttle it and ease the brakes it handles fairly well. On dry pavement it handles excellent though. I reside in Red Wing, MN.
So, if anyone wants to chatter with me or talk shop on cars or whatnot just bomb me a message. Thanks. Hope to make new contacts here.

Prophet 02-14-2012 09:01 PM

Welcome! I would highly recommend snow tires if you don't have them already.
