I just did my own '05 keyfob programming this weekend. The remote took me two tries to get right, but the actual key programming was really easy. I can't believe someone would pay to have it done. It took literally 20 seconds.
However, you do need to have two working keys to use that method. If you only have one you're SOL.
BTW, I got the instructions off this site for both.

Re: output shaft
We took apart (and put back together) a 12A. I'm not sure what you mean by Output shaft? The eccentric shaft (two rotors sit and spin on that) in that engine can only be put in when the engine is disassembled.. (completely) If you are talking about an eccentric shaft change, it's a _BIG_ deal. The real trick w/ disassembling and reassembling a rotory engine is the seals between the various housing plates (combustion chambers) and also the seals on the rotors themselves. [the rebuild book talked about an "assembly glue" to keep the rotor seals in place as you assembled everything... we found out "assembly glue" is really just super glue.. once the rotors spin up, the bond isn't strong enough to keep the glue from breaking and the apex/corner seals pop into place..
I know the renesis has a slightly different apex/corner seal arrangement]
I'd almost suggest if you want to do this, to buy an engine from Mazmart and work on that engine... then do an engine swap. (I have no idea what a Mazmart _just_ the engine would cost...)
Re: '05 Key Fob
Actually I got the parts from mazdaparts.com, and then went to the dealer (at a service visit) asked for them to cut/copy my key to the blank.. then I programmed it myself. (My dealer cut the key for free.. they definatly did not have to, especially since I didn't get the blank from them!)

as for the reason they cut the key for free...no one asks them, just about ever

Clear bra
I noticed the guy that sold me my paint protection kit I installed has more kits on Ebay.
Not sure if I had mentioned how much the precut clear bra cost me, other than the time I spent puting it on.
I pulled it off of Ebay for a total of $40
((9.99 bumper and mirrors + 14.99 (for the hood and fenders, added on after winning the item) and 14.99 for shipping))
Just do a search for RX-8 and paint protection
I've had it on for two months and it looks good, saves from very small rocks and bugs emphasis on bugs.

I should be free between ~4:45 pm and ~6:00 pm
Let me know if anyone wants to have a quick meet-up. I have my Autoenginuity unit if anyone needs to scan or reset anything.

Jason,
Great!!! you'll finally done!!!
ahahaha now you'll have time to work on the car???
When we install your REVI. We should do some measurement and see if there is enough room for Jeff's MS front. If its about an inch or two then it should fit :D
