Speedrx8er suggested the 1st weekend in Nov as a possible get drive / BBQ. Does that work for anyone else - either sat or sun?

truemagellen 10-31-2005 10:25 PM

lets do it, then have another one the week after :)

Speedrx8er 10-31-2005 11:31 PM

papajoey79 11-01-2005 07:41 AM

Please PM me your mailing address :) .. or if you like we can meet up in Alexandria.

Damn I wish we have back road like that hahahaha zoom zoom zoom !!!! :D

Are you still going to Alexandria if you are having people over?
I'm down for whatever...

fray 11-01-2005 09:03 AM

Depending on the weather I may be interested.. As we get further on into the week lets see how it goes.

(BTW I _highly_ recommend non-oxygenated fuel for these rides.. much more fun) :)

Has anyone tried to fill up their 8 at the Fleet Farm in Lakeville? They look like a place that might actually enforce the not for automotive use...

I've never heard of this fuel?
Is it ok to run in our cars?
I'm all about more fun!!!

Haven't try the non-oxygenated fuel yet. But I'll try it on my next fill up. :)

Have not determine when this month We'll head to Alexandria. My wife have been with upgrades at work..

fray 11-01-2005 12:36 PM

papajoey, in MN they are required to add oxygenated addatives to the fuel here.. (specifically ethanol).. Nothing wrong w/ Ethanol per say.. just a bit less power.

A few stations in Minnesota have "oxygenate" exemptions so they can sell fuel for non-road vehicles (i.e. atv's, lawn tractors, etc..) as well as "collector cars".

I've been using it in my RX-8 now for the past month or so when I finally found a place I could fill up at. My milage increased about 1-2 MPG.. (so I'm not exactly saving money since it would be cheaper for me to buy premium w/ oxygenate..) But my butt dyno says I have a lot more acceleration now.

(I also want non-ethanol fuel for winter storage.. I've been told that it stores better.)

truemagellen 11-01-2005 12:52 PM

I LOVE NON-ETHANOL

4yrs to supercharge (ted) and I have been on the hunt for Non-ehtanol/non additive fuels...Ted has a place kind of near him but there is nothing near me (I live 2 minutes from uptown). Whenever I go to Wisconsin I make sure to fill up on the stuff when I can.

I get MUCH better gas mileage, car runs/starts better.

Now that Governer Piece of Shit Pawlenty signed off on 20% ethanol compliance we are asking for trouble pouring that crap in our car...this is because he has hardcore lobbyists throwing money at him to become the Ethanol King of the midwest.

sorry for my harsh language, but I'm pissed as I have called Pawlenty's office before (especially after the MNPass fiasco) and they treated me like shit...so yah I'm bitter

:) He'll be replaced in one year fortunately :)

Speedrx8er 11-01-2005 01:21 PM

If you missed Ted's email or was it a post . Anyways, here is a website for non-ethanol in
mn.

Non-Oxygenated

After running it for a month I had to put a couple gallons in of oxygenated (Crap only going to get worse gas :( ) it immediately idled rougher, probably the roughest it has ever ran. When I got to the good station and filled it up it smoothed right out. :)

sadly that website is out of date only a few non oxy left in the state

those that are aren't listed (as Fray said) as fillups for cars...but rather specialty applications :banghead:

BoosTED 11-01-2005 02:23 PM

Eden Prairie

The Mobil on Flying Cloud has no signs about off road and collector cars only. It does have its own pump but it doesn't have a credit card reader. I was talking to one of the cashiers. She said it is the only thing she runs in her cars. They just got the permit to run it year round, normally the stations stop selling it during the extreme cold months (Dec, Jan, Feb) probably because it doesn't run as clean and during extreme cold it runs even richer.

Where are they both located?

IIRC, Steve is in Texas, but flys up here on occasion to tune rotary cars, and Cam is in Florida. No one close by.

fray 11-02-2005 11:58 AM

Not the closest fuel station, but I use the 12th and 66th Sinclair in Richfield.

They have a permit for year-round non-oxy fuel.. it's not cheap, but my car feels like it runs better. Fleet farm has it much cheaper, but I'm not sure they wouldn't yell if I tried to fill up my car there. (since technically if the fuel station allows you to fill up on non-oxy they are liable for a fine.)

BoosTED 11-02-2005 12:56 PM

All Premium

The other Mobil in Eden Prairie has Non-oxy in all the pumps just have to push the button for premium and nothing is marked any where that it is non-oxygenated.
That is the one off of 39.

I tried the gas and it is non-oxy. :smoker:

Speedrx8er 11-02-2005 12:56 PM

Fray do you know if all fleet farm station are oxy free?

Speedrx8er 11-02-2005 01:00 PM

FYI:

for those with flooding problem or hard startup.

alcimedes 11-02-2005 01:07 PM

Just as an FYI, I emailed the person who runs the nonoxy page, and asked if it was up to date or not. I haven't heard anything yet, but if that site is no longer accurate, it migth be worth having one that we set up ourselves with a list of known nonoxy stations. Not sure how you'd know for sure other than watching milage though.

truemagellen 11-02-2005 01:09 PM

Great idea E!

Could even link it into google maps :)
