Next Meet for rotaries in Chicago area?
Hey guys we should start planning for another meet now. So we can get a lot of people to come. How about May 15th or 16th or next weekend after that?

Ming,
We tried the last weekend of each month a couple of years ago, and it didn't work out very well, since a lot of holidays fall at the end or beginning of the month. And when you have a holiday, people tend to plan their vacations around that to maximize vacation time allowed at work. (i.e.- the holiday os a "free" vacation day)
e.g.- July 4 is a Sunday this year, so people might take off with the family from June 26 - July 5
Memorial day is at the end of May.
Labor day is the beginning of September, so the last weekend in August might be another prime vacation slot for people.
Easter is often at the beginning of April or sometimes late March? Although that is past this year...
Last year we tried the middle of the month, and it worked pretty good. So if we do one this weekend, that will work out well with that plan.
(Except for my personal schedule this weekend - I am committed for a family event this weekend. But I look forward to meeting everyone new and old members at the next meeting.)
Hopefully our Chicago club prez Bill Allred will be joining in this discussion and will help drive the monthly meetings...
How does the middle of the mnth sound to everyone?
Cheers,
Steve

I posted the link to this discussion on the RX-7 forum too.
This split between forums for RX-7 and RX-8 owners is a bit of a pain in the behind. Bill Allred is redoing the CHicago club site, and is going to incorporate a forum for Chicago there, so it will be a lot easier to keep the rotary community in Chicago tied in to meetings, events, etc.
Cheers,
Steve

>It's all about unity and organization.. woo hoo!
Absolutely.
With all due respect to Ryan and others who run both the RX-8 and RX-7 forums and put all the hard work into starting them up and building up to their present state of excellence, it would be easier if there were only one rotary forum we needed to go to for all Chicago info and forum-type community.
I think once Bill gets the Chicago site updated it will help a lot.
Although that won't eliminate the issue entirely - we won't get the same opportunities to see what is going on in the Midwest with other clubs and events. So we will still need to check the RX-n club.com forums...
