No, I have a torque reduction tool for the big flywheel nut. But, I don't have anything to lock the flywheel. Mazdatrix used to sell a piece that bolted to the endplate to lock the flywheel.

Hey all, I am going to add this to the official EVOLV-Chicago meets thread as an add-on to the Lakeshore Meet/Cruise.

All are welcome to join in the cruise afterward!!!

Since I live in Plainfield, I'll probably stop by at some point and check out the fun that is a dyno day! I saw someone asking where to stay: there are a couple of hotels on Weber Road and I-55 in Romeoville. They are close and have reasonable rates (or so I've heard). A quick search came up with these

Question

MM,

Can you post a brief description of what your plans are? For example are you going to get a base run first then tune? Will you be able to generate two maps? For example, one for daily use then one for track use? I actually wouldn't mind driving daily on a track map if time is an issue, that is as long as it's not pushing the envelope to far in terms of engine reliability. I don't mind losing some mpg in order to achieve more HP, same goes for cat life. Thanks

There is only one tune - it does everything.
Put behind you the idea that there are different levels and tunes. That is a very 1990's way of thinking about it.
We will tune your car for its maximum potential as it sits that day.

I will dial in your MAF calibration, we will go for a ride and get some street/highway tuning and then strap it down and maximize the AFRs and ignition timing.
Power will come naturally from that.

I don't believe in tuning a street car for power only. It should have its entire performance envelope maximized and the results will follow.

^^ I have my choice of hotels actually.
I'm already booked to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterton.
However I may spend Saturday night in Chicago at the Embassy Suites downtown on North State Street or the Westin on North Dearborne

.... leaning towards Embassy Suites, I basically lived there for a year in 2006.

You do know that Chesterton, Indiana is quite a ways from the site. It is most likely cheaper than anything in the area. Gary, Indiana is a traffic bottleneck. Early Saturday morning shouldn't be much of a problem, but beware. You also will probably be driving on the Illinois tollway system. Be prepared to stop for toll booths.

^^^ Thanks alnielsen
I fly into ORD every Monday then drive to Chesterton Indiana.
I take the return trip on Friday and I'm quite aware of the toll booths and traffic.

I'm hoping that Saturday Morning will not be busy. While I may stay over in Chicago Saturday night. I love Chicago, prolly my favorite NA city.

Thanks for your concern

One trick the locals know (and you may already as well) is that an iPass is your best friend. It's funny how the tollway system stopped telling people that paying via iPass is HALF the cost of the cash toll. Even my out of town friends now have an iPass just to save time/money. It's a $10 deposit (refundable unless you JDM it like I did )

It's always a crapshoot as far as traffic goes: check this site to see accurate travel times

That should work well. Straight up 59 to 34. And no tolls! Well except for going to and coming from the Lakeshore meet.

For that there should be only one toll booth. And with everybody using the pass, the waits at the booth shouldn't be that long. 80 cents please.
