I was at the races this weekend, it was a great weekend overal, but we did hit a few bumps in the road. It was true that, the #70 car was hit and sustained a lot of front end damage, along with suspension work! They had to start at the back of the field and they did get to the front eventually, ( we had 3 RX-8's) running 1, 2 & 3 early on, but mechanical issues slowed the Racers Edge car and Hyper Sport was taken out on the first lap of the race, but the had to fabricate a shock, but they got back into race and put forth a great effort.

If you guys want, you should bring out your better half to the event, as I have it on good authority, that Patrick Dempsey will be racing that weekend. I am sure you are wondering on who's authority, well Patrick's himself!

Here is a pick with Patrick signing posters for me...

Really nice guy and he loves racing and appreciates the fans as well. So if the wife or girlfriend won't let you go, use the "McDreamy" factor to your advantage

+1 on Patrick! He really is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I met him this past Oct when he drove for us at the 6 hr at VIR. He signed a rotor for me...I'll bring it with me, along with my SpeedSource signed rotor and maybe if someone wants to take a very valuable piece of SpeedSource memorabilia off my hands...the autographed rear door of the #70 from last year's Sunchaser 1000 at Miller!!!

Marlon,

I edited my entry for shirts, if possible. Your "McDreamy" post swayed her to leave the quilt show early!

Thanks,

Jeff

A couple hours after I wake up and that's highly dependent on how well Friday night goes...

Probably shoot for between 11-12.

I know that some of the Cleveland guys were talking about caravaning down at our last meet. So whenever RK wakes up I will probably be heading out the door. Personally I was hoping for 9 - 10 though.

tireman you may want to hop into the Akron/Cleveland thread. We are talking about meeting up at Rt18 and 71 right now and we are a bunch of passive folk so you may just get your wish for a time if you hop in. :P

I'm going to confirm the corral with Mid-Ohio this week, based on what I see in this thread. If you haven't posted your intentions yet, now's the time!

10 days & counting - can't wait!

I may have 2 more people coming down. If you're still tracking t-shirts add in a pair of Mediums. If not no biggie. They're more interested in McDreamy than t-shirts. I'm thinking I shouldn't thank you for that but I'm sure they will.

Just curious but only Mazda's in the corral, right? Trying to figure out some driving arrangements.

Damn, We've got some big boys comin' to this thing!! 4XL's?!?! 3XL's?!?! Yikes!

I might start talkin' trash to the non-Mazda folks and then ask them what they're going to do about it. Ha!!

If my buddy drives he'll be in a mini so it won't be hard. Then again if he came down in the Vette he raced at the Cleveland Grand Prix vette challenge 2 years ago he'd probably 'do' something about it on the track.

I'll throw my car cover in the trunk and can just cover his ride up when he's not looking... Although with a Mini I can probably cover it with a lawn size trash bag.

I believe he was speaking of trying to use me as his muscle. As an MMA fan I am sure I can hold my own...but as Mazda makes really small cars...I would be careful who you pick on. Can we keep it to Crossfire and Civic owners as they are normally under 100 lbs soaking wet? kthxbai

Pass this along to all the ladies coming just to see Patrick...he really does enjoy having the fans there but also keep in mind he is a race car driver and doesn't have a lot of free to time to go around. I know he doesn't mind taking pictures and signing autographs but please be courteous.

So panty throwing on sight is considered inappropriate?

It shouldn't be a problem. I vaguely knew he did stuff with Mazda but hadn't realized he's driving an 8 in the GT. Good for him and good pub for Mazda.

Panty throwing is allowed only if the rest of us get to watch the panties come off! HAHA! Yeah, Patrick drove 2 seasons in the MX-5 Cup and has driven for us in the ST class before. He will be driving for us again just not sure when.

Yea...while I spent my 4 hours at the dealer the other day I got to read about his story from the Mazda Magazine. It magically stopped getting delivered to my house. Twuz a good story...too bad Mazda doesn't love me anymore.

Any chance of putting together a small educational spring and strut workshop Saturday or Sunday? I have new MazdaSpeed shocks/struts and Eibach Springs to put on my car? Sounds like a nice size group in the corral!

If not no biggie, but thought maybe some might be interested.

Plus, it would save me the trouble...LOL!!

Also, I will probably be getting to the track on Saturday between 7:30 - 8:30am

The Cleveland/Akron gang has decided to leave from the McDonalds at I-71 and SR-18 at 9:30 AM. We expect to arrive around 10:30 AM...at least by Google's calculations. I expect us to arrive more like 10:00 AM though...we shall see.

Jeff,

What were you thinking as far as a departure time? How long did it take us to get there last year?

Anthony,

Marlon is currently confirming the schedules with the teams. For me, my wife has an early morning function, so we will not be able to leave Hilliard until about noon. That would put us up there about 1:30, which should be ok given a 5:00 race time. If folks want to go up earlier, by all means have at it. You had mentioned hooking up at the Rt 36 exit. Do you still want to do that? Any particular place and time in mind?

I'm giving more consideration to going up Friday afternoon to see some practice and qualifying. Anybody interested?
